Instructor: Don Toothaker
Recommended prerequisite: Basic Knowledge of your Camera
All Skill Levels Welcome

Black and white photography is not only alive and well in the digital age, but it is better than ever before. Personal growth in photography is rooted in the fundamentals of exposure and composition and no genre teaches you more about each than working in monochrome. Boston is a vibrant, photogenic city full of tones, textures, and details that lend themselves very well to seeing, thinking, and creating in black and white. During the weekend we will seek out, discuss, and demonstrate characteristics that make for strong black and white images. While photographing a variety of scenarios emphasis will be placed on cultivating subject development, strong compositions, and using light and shadow.
Each day there will be strong emphasis placed on technique in the field with hands on instruction. Attendees will also benefit from a final critique session.
