Join the dynamic duo of Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis to explore the world of Hollywood glamour, and learn the photographic style of George Hurrell. Bobbi & Lee will teach you how to achieve the look of the classic Hollywood glamour images of the 1930’s & 40’s using modern lighting tools and digital retouching techniques. Hurrell spent the last 12 years of his life shooting in Bobbi’s studio, during which he experienced a revival of popularity for his classic style.

In this workshop, you will be learning from her first-hand experience Hurrell’s creative approach to lighting, styling, and posing! Hurrell “sculpted’ his subjects with large Tungsten movie lights. In today’s world, we will use LED lights (courtesy of Nanlite) with Fresnel (pronounced “fre-nel”) and Barn Door attachments.

This is a fascinating and dynamic workshop with models dressed and styled in Hollywood fashion. Over two days, we will cover lighting, posing and directing, and how to use this style in the modern world.

After hands-on shooting, Lee Varis will teach Lightroom and Photoshop retouching techniques that allow you to replicate Hurrell’s classic creamy B&W tones and smooth skin, without the hours of tedious re-illustration for which he was famous.

Included in this workshop is an introductory webinar on the Hollywood Lighting style to be held on Tuesday March 17th at 7pm EST. (If you can’t attend live, it will be recorded, but you should watch it prior to the workshop.)
