The Faroe Islands consist of 18 archipelago islands off the coast of Denmark. Each island is connected by a series of roadways, tunnels, and ferries. Amidst ever-changing light, clouds, and weather, we will explore colorful fishing villages, lush landscapes that are home to thousands of sheep and endless stone walls, dramatic seascapes sculpted by fire many thousands of years ago, impressive fjords, and nesting Atlantic Puffins. Our week will be full of creative opportunities that will challenge every photographer. The Faroe Islands are accessible via a short flight from Iceland and, once landed, we will settle into our hotel which will be home for the week. Each day we will set out to explore the day’s events in vans. Breakfasts will be eaten in our hotel with lunches and dinners enjoyed in various locations.

As a group, we will fly from Iceland to the Faroe Islands and back again at the conclusion of the workshop. This will ensure arrival and departure for the group will all be at the same time. Flights are NOT included, but will be suggested.

Your trip includes:

  • Accomodations and breakfasts each day at the Hotel Foroyar
  • All lunches and dinners during the Photo Adventure
  • Guiding by photography instructor Don Toothaker and local Faroe Island registered guide Oda Andreasen
  • Transportation during the workshop including any ferry trips needed

Your trip does not include:

  • International Flights
  • Cancellation/Travel Insurance (Strongly recommended)
  • Your hotel or transportation in Iceland if you choose to arrive early
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • Gratuity for your Faroe Island Registered guide
  • Other activities such as shopping, extra meals, trip extensions

A valid passport will be required for this workshop. Proof of Covid vaccination is not required at this time.

An Overview of this Faroe Island Photo Adventure:

Please know and understand that our activities each day will be dictated by weather. Given its location in the North Atlantic, the Faroe Islands host a variety of weather from wind, rain, fog, and sun: sometimes all in the same day! We need to be flexible and adjust to the weather and conditions at all times. If certain locations are not accessible, unsafe, or closed they will be excluded or visited on another day.  When traveling we need to be mindful of local culture, nature, other travelers, and fellow Photo Adventure attendees. Safety is always a top priority, so please follow the instructions from guides. This workshop will be rigorous with hiking and walking along dirt walkways, rocky landscapes, and steep pastures as well as working in potentially inclement weather.
