All Skill Levels Welcome, but having a basic understanding of photography, camera settings, and being familiar with your camera is important. Students do not need any prior lighting experience.

What to Bring:
  • Your camera (digital if you could please)
  • Any lenses you want to use
  • Your Laptop with Power Cord
  • Feel free to bring snacks and water. There will be snacks on hand, but if you have any dietary restrictions please let us know
  • Bring an extra camera battery and freshly formatted memory cards
  • Anything you want to take notes with
  • As always, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!
  • *We will have some Leica SL2S Bodies and Lenses available if you choose to try one out (absolutely take advantage of that opportunity!) An extra SD card will be needed if you want to use one.
Recommended Prerequisites:
Having a basic understanding of photography, camera settings, and being familiar with your camera is important. Students must be able to operate their camera’s menu navigation and button system on their own. Knowledge of photography basics & understanding of the exposure triangle required. Students do not need any prior lighting experience

Totally Tubular is Day Four of our weekend workshops with Jeremy Saffer. Thursday is Business in Focus, Friday is Get the LED Out (LED Lighting only!), Saturday is Rock Photography: The Cover Shot & Photographing the Feature, and Sunday is Totally Tubular: Gothic Portrait Edition (featuring all Tube Lighting). If you would like to sign up for all four days at a discounted rate, make sure to choose the Four Day Option!

If you are sick or feeling unwell, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future workshop. Also, please note: We are requiring that ANY ATTENDEE with a cough MUST wear a mask for the health and safety of the attendees, instructors, and models.

Certain special workshops, such as this one, are non-refundable. However, we understand that life happens, and you can receive a 75% credit towards the same class in the future if you need to cancel.

Description

Come to the darker side of portraiture with Gothic Portraiture using specifically tube LED lighting! Rock and celebrity photographer Jeremy Saffer will emphasize Beauty and Darkness with a variety of goth musicians and models, showing different lighting techniques and posing to bring out the unique look of each artist. Afterward, attendees take over and photograph the special guests using the tubes, the fog, and everything they’ve learned from the day!

This workshop will use 100% Nanlite LED Tubes! Whether you have some experience or your a Tube Newbie, this is an EXCELLENT way to get experienced with this new(ish) form of lighting that’s practical, fairly easy to set up, and fun! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!

11:00 a.m. – Tube light instructional demo/camera prep
11:30 a.m. – Studio set up demo
12:00 p.m. – Break / Lunch
12:30 p.m. – Pre-shoot QnA with guest/band.
1:00 p.m. – Live Shoot: Jeremy photographs guest bands
2:30 p.m. – Live Shoot: Students photograph guest bands
5:30 p.m. – Wrap up/final band QnA/feedback
