SUMMARY:Hunt's Expo Seminar: Faces of the World: Travel Portrait Masterclass with Bobbi Lane
DESCRIPTION:Traveling to a new and exotic location can be fun and sometimes a little intimidating. There is so much to see and do\, and people to meet\, and food to eat\, that we can get caught up in just making a quick snapshot of the interesting people that we meet. That’s great for the memories\, but with a few guidelines in mind\, your portraits can really evoke a sense of the people and places that will have more meaning for you over time. Bobbi covers the simple steps to approaching strangers\, communicating with them\, and setting them up in appropriate light with backgrounds that help tell their story. This requires several things as a photographer: awareness of place\, light\, color and letting go of your fear. Remember that no matter where you are in the world\, we have a shared humanity\, and a smile is universal. \nAbout Bobbi Lane \nBobbi Lane\, a Fujifilm “X” Photographer\, is an award-winning commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits on location and in the studio. Lane’s multi-faceted approach to photography incorporates over 40 years of technical experience with innovative artistic interpretation. As a dedicated photo educator\, she brings insight and enthusiasm to her students in workshops held worldwide. She is widely known as the “Mistress of Light”\, teaching portrait lighting techniques with both natural and artificial light. Combining her love of travel\, photography and teaching\, Bobbi also leads international photo travel workshops with her husband Lee Varis\, such as Venice Carnival\, Tuscany\, Neighborhoods of New York and Scotland. SUMMARY:Providence Expo Seminar: Working the Landscape: Observation\, Patience\, and Creative Growth in Nature Photography with Kevin Bruff
DESCRIPTION:This presentation explores the value of returning to familiar locations and using the environment as a creative collaborator. Through seasonal studies and real-world examples from coastal Rhode Island\, photographer Kevin Bruff will share how observation\, patience\, and curiosity shape both technical skill and artistic vision. The talk will cover working in the field\, adapting to changing conditions\, and developing a personal workflow that supports long-term growth. Attendees will gain practical insights along with a deeper perspective on creating meaningful images from nature. \n\n  \nAbout Kevin Bruff: \nKevin Bruff is a Rhode Island–based landscape and nature photographer whose work focuses on the coastal environments and seasonal changes of New England. Through a process rooted in observation\, repetition\, and patience\, he explores how returning to familiar locations can deepen both technical skill and creative vision. His images often reflect a balance between structure and spontaneity\, shaped by time spent in the field across locations such as Middletown Valley\, Sachuest Point\, and Beavertail. \nIn addition to his creative work\, Kevin brings a professional background as a Systems Engineer\, where he has developed a strong foundation in analytical thinking\, process development\, and problem-solving. This technical perspective informs his photographic approach\, blending methodical planning with openness to discovery. \n  \nAn avid hiker\, Kevin spends much of his time immersed in nature\, using the landscape not just as a subject\, but as a collaborator in the creative process. He is also the founder of the Photographers Café community\, where he encourages photographers to grow through consistent practice\, shared learning\, and thoughtful exploration.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Steam Punk in Waltham!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a walk where we will work specifically on environmental portraiture in a street photography setting with the most outrageous (and awesome) subjects- Steampunk! \nFounded in 2011\, the Waltham Steampunk Festival is the oldest outdoor Steampunk Festival in the country. Steampunk is an aesthetic and fashion that often mixes old-fashioned design (ex. Victorian/19th century era) with futuristic technology\, or at least futuristic from the design’s standpoint. Colorful personalities\, eccentric clothing\, boisterous jewelry\, and clever gadgetry are just some of the elements to expect from this fun day! During the annual festival\, attendees and vendors gather to show off their unique outfits and inventions.  It is a spectacular event for photographers to experience and photograph. \nOn this walk\, we will photograph at the festival for the majority of the day\, meeting at 11:30am until the end of the festival at 4pm. (If you cannot attend for the entirety\, that’s OK\, but we will be in attendance for the day!) We will work on storytelling\, environmental portraits\, and more! \nAs a final note\, please consider that this event is a rain or shine event\, so we will (hopefully) be attending\, rain or shine. \nJoin us for this unique and special photo walk!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Expo Seminars: Before you Edit- Why Filters Still Matter in Digital Photography with NiSi
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an eye-opening exploration of how neutral density and polarizing filters remain essential tools in modern photography. In this engaging presentation\, Jim Reisman from NiSi Optics USA will demonstrate how these filters help photographers master exposure\, achieve stunning long-exposure shots\, and create images with unparalleled vibrance—effects that simply can’t be replicated in post-processing.\n\nBut ND and polarizers are just the beginning. We’ll also touch on the creative impact of special effects filters\, such as Black Mist and other filters. How they can add cinematic depth\, soften highlights\, and enhance atmosphere in a way that software alone cannot achieve.\n\nWith so many filter options and mounting systems available\, choosing the right one can be overwhelming. This session will also break down the different filter systems—magnetic\, screw-in\, and square—to help you determine what best suits your photography style and workflow.\n\nWhether you’re looking to enhance landscapes\, portraits\, or cinematic visuals\, filters remain an essential tool for photographers at all levels. This presentation will provide both technical insight and creative inspiration to help you make the most of these powerful tools.

SUMMARY:Manchester Expo Seminar: Understanding Low Light & Night Photography with Emily Hojnowski

While our Beginner class scratches the surface of these functions\, this class covers the following topics in Low-Light and Night Photography:\n• Exposure\, Focusing\, Settings\, Subject Matter\, and Gear\n• RAW vs. Jpeg shooting\n• Aperture Priority vs. Manual\n• Live View and Manual Focus\nUnderstanding the full-functionality of your camera is a necessity to improving your flexibility when photographing in a variety of situations. This course is designed to help you feel more comfortable about how to change your camera’s settings in those situations.

SUMMARY:Holyoke Expo Seminar: Whispers in the Medina: Creating a Personal Project in Marrakech with Jeffrey Byrnes
DESCRIPTION:Join photographer Jeffrey Byrnes as he shares stories of his trip to Morocco and the personal work that he created in Marrakech. These stories share the importance of personal work and the role it plays in developing you as a photographer. Creating personal work\, especially through travel can impact your career. Creating personal work shows potential clients them that you’re more than just a photographer who can make pretty pictures or shoot their product shots\, it demonstrates your ability to create deep meaningful work that tells stories. This seminar is ideal for photographers of all levels!  \nAbout Jeffrey Byrnes:  \nIf you were to squeeze my bones dry\, sand would fall from them. \nAs a kid from the 90’s\, the summers on Cape Cod were my time to explore\, hunt snakes in the mountains\, and chase friends on bikes. Winters were spent building giant snow forts out of plowed icebergs and learning to carve mountains on a snowboard. These moments were all part of a New England childhood which taught me how to appreciate seasonal changes with a sense of wonder and amazement. I found freedom on my bikes and skateboards\, all the while dreaming of making a debut at the X-Games. It was this dream that altered my path… \nIn high school I started shooting the world of graffiti and skaters. The camera quickly became my new obsession-I discovered it was a way to see tell stories and create connections \nTravel\, skating\, food and even flying choppers has become parts of my life\, always integrated with my photography. \nI am an advertising and commercial photographer. I create achievement through the lens.
