SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Spring in Solon\, Maine
DESCRIPTION:Spring in the woods of Maine is an exciting time for creativity. Each May\, the woods come alive with new growth that will inspire any photographer. Colorful wildflowers\, blooming trees\, streams\, waterfalls\, the night sky\, and local culture all make for fantastic photo opportunities as we explore\, learn\, and create in and around the rural town of Solon\, Maine. \nSolon\, Maine will host this Adventure: a four-day workshop featuring hands-on instruction during daily field trips\, in-depth classroom discussion\, and professional guidance from Hunt’s Photo’s Director of Photo Adventures Don Toothaker in a rustic\, relaxed atmosphere.\nSolon is a small town at the edge of some of Maine’s premier wilderness areas. Once home to a vibrant farming and logging industry\, Solon is now a quiet village that caters to outdoorsman and eco-tourism year round. Daily field trips will provide everyone with a variety of subjects that showcase the beauty and diversity of the region. \nSkill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity: Medium. The longest hike we will go on will be 1/2 mile\, round trip\, and there will be some slightly tricky terrain\, but this will be minimal. \nDuring this Workshop We will Cover: \n• Exposure\n• Composition\n• Metering\n• Use of Lenses\n• Use of Light Modifiers\n• Subject Development\n• Creative Thinking\n• Shooting in Low Light\n• Long Exposures\n• Use of Filters (polarizers and ND)\n• Image Processing\, Review and Critiquing \nWhat’s included:\n• Daily excursions in and around locations in Solon\n• In-field instruction at each location\n• Image Discussion and Review \nWhat’s not included:\n• Transportation to and from Solon\, Maine \n• Cost of lodging\n• Cost of meals \nLodging is not included in the cost of this Adventure. We will be staying at the Towne Motel in Skowhegan (207) 474-5151. \nRecommended gear:\nCamera\, memory cards\, batteries\nWide angle\, standard\, and telephoto lenses (If you are looking for a lens to rent\, you can rent it from us at rentals.huntsphoto.com!)\nTripod\nCable release\nPolarizers and Neutral Density filters if you have them \nTravel information\nThis workshop will begin at about 2:30pm on the first day and conclude at about 11am on the final day listed. \nHotel information\nWe will be staying at the Towne Motel in Skowhegan\, Maine- 207-474-5151. Please note: Your rooms are NOT included in the cost of your ticket\, but we have rooms set aside. After booking with us\, make sure to call to put your name on one of those rooms. DESCRIPTION:Developed by photographers\, for photographers\, Adobe Lightroom provides amateur enthusiast and photographers with the necessary tools for basic image management and high-level image post-production.\nThis course focuses on how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover:\n•Brief Computer File Management\n•Importance of Keywords\n•Attributes– flagging\, rating\, color coding\n•Searching metadata to find images\n•And more!\nLightroom is an extremely robust and important manager of files\, and knowing how to utilize it is paramount to being able to find and edit your images!\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. DESCRIPTION:Please note: This is a 2-part class that will meet on the dates listed above\nThat title is exhausting! And so it can also feel making a book\, a zine\, a calendar\, or even a print! There’s so much to the printing process that is foreign and never covered in standard courses\, and so in this course\, we will begin to cover some of the basics.\nIn this two session course\, we’ll discuss the following topics:\n-Organization- How to use your software (ANY software) to work for you to prepare your vision\n-Culling your images- Reducing the quantity of images you use to strengthen your end result\n-Pre-visualization- Begin to develop your storytelling journey by letting the images guide you!\n-Exporting & Importing- How do we bring the images out of the program we’re using and at what settings\n-Online options and standalone programs for building books\, calendars\, and more.\n-Layouts- What are some of the basic design elements that we can employee? What can be automated and what do we have to do from scratch?\n-Storytelling- This is the glue that holds the book together! (Figuratively\, not literally.) How do we keep interest for 20 pages? 50 pages? 100 pages? \nMuch of the conversation in this course will be demonstrated using Adobe Lightroom Classic\, but other programs (Capture One\, Apple Photos) can also be discussed and are just as applicable. \nA note about printing: Please be aware\, we will NOT be printing books in this class\, only showing the process. The printing will be up to you!
