SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Spring in Solon\, Maine
DESCRIPTION:Spring in the woods of Maine is an exciting time for creativity. Each May\, the woods come alive with new growth that will inspire any photographer. Colorful wildflowers\, blooming trees\, streams\, waterfalls\, the night sky\, and local culture all make for fantastic photo opportunities as we explore\, learn\, and create in and around the rural town of Solon\, Maine. \nSolon\, Maine will host this Adventure: a four-day workshop featuring hands-on instruction during daily field trips\, in-depth classroom discussion\, and professional guidance from Hunt’s Photo’s Director of Photo Adventures Don Toothaker in a rustic\, relaxed atmosphere.\nSolon is a small town at the edge of some of Maine’s premier wilderness areas. Once home to a vibrant farming and logging industry\, Solon is now a quiet village that caters to outdoorsman and eco-tourism year round. Daily field trips will provide everyone with a variety of subjects that showcase the beauty and diversity of the region. \nSkill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity: Medium. The longest hike we will go on will be 1/2 mile\, round trip\, and there will be some slightly tricky terrain\, but this will be minimal. \nDuring this Workshop We will Cover: \n• Exposure\n• Composition\n• Metering\n• Use of Lenses\n• Use of Light Modifiers\n• Subject Development\n• Creative Thinking\n• Shooting in Low Light\n• Long Exposures\n• Use of Filters (polarizers and ND)\n• Image Processing\, Review and Critiquing \nWhat’s included:\n• Daily excursions in and around locations in Solon\n• In-field instruction at each location\n• Image Discussion and Review \nWhat’s not included:\n• Transportation to and from Solon\, Maine \n• Cost of lodging\n• Cost of meals \nLodging is not included in the cost of this Adventure. We will be staying at the Towne Motel in Skowhegan (207) 474-5151. \nRecommended gear:\nCamera\, memory cards\, batteries\nWide angle\, standard\, and telephoto lenses (If you are looking for a lens to rent\, you can rent it from us at rentals.huntsphoto.com!)\nTripod\nCable release\nPolarizers and Neutral Density filters if you have them \nTravel information\nThis workshop will begin at about 2:30pm on the first day and conclude at about 11am on the final day listed. \nHotel information\nWe will be staying at the Towne Motel in Skowhegan\, Maine- 207-474-5151. Please note: Your rooms are NOT included in the cost of your ticket\, but we have rooms set aside. After booking with us\, make sure to call to put your name on one of those rooms. DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Education for a walk at Elizabeth Park Conservancy in West Hartford\, Connecticut\, an historic area of blooming gardens\, lovely walkways\, and a pond.  This walk should coincide with blooming roses in the rose garden! Landscape opportunities are also available\, but we will spend most of our time in the gardens. Bring your macro (or prime) lens and join us for a fun and stunning walk!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Media Day and Action Sports Portraits
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be creating dynamic lighting scenarios involving athletes\, recreating Media Day! Media Day portraits have become increasingly popular in the sporting world\, from the start of the sporting season to major sporting events and more. Media Day photos are used for promotional imagery to showcase the aura of the athlete. Media Day is essential in almost every high school and college. \nIn this workshop\, we will be posing athletes and creating lighting scenarios that all photographers can use as part of their arsenal when creating Media Day portraits. This is an excellent portfolio-building workshop!  We will work both indoors and outside. For indoors\, we will emphasize the use LED lighting\, including Nanlite and Aputure lighting\, as well as other elements that help build the atmosphere of your images! For outdoors\, we will use a combination of natural light and strobes to create the ultimate outdoor look! \nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process of lighting a subject\, how to properly expose while using strobes\, and how to actually use the strobes themselves! \nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.
