SUMMARY:Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 2\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now.This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. DESCRIPTION:Introduction on Comparing Papers- Wednesday March 4th\, 6:30pm ET • Online! \nPrint Review- Wednesday March 11th\, 6:30pm ET • Hunt’s Melrose or Online! \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing Flowers! \nEveryone wants to print flowers. There is such a mass appeal of flowers for such obvious reasons\, including their impermanence and their vibrancy of color. Therefore\, it only makes sense that flowers should be printed to display that level of vibrance for a long period of time! In this session\, we will focus our energies on not only the editing process\, but choosing the right surface of paper and size of paper. Among the topics discussed matte vs. glossy papers\, the importance of textured papers\, the illusive rice papers and natural/eco-friendly papers\, printing with borders and considering creating alternative borders\, and more! We will really be digging deep to think about what we are doing\, why we’re doing it\, and what we want to do! \nThis Print Review topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic– some of the key differences between paper surfaces– and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. Educator Paul Nelson will produce a recorded image review\, discussing paper options\, editing suggestions\, and more\, to be sent back to you leading up to the second session. Paul will then print images for the class. In the end\, you will receive a print of one of your edited images up to 13×19″ in size. (Please note: We are happy to make a larger or additional print outside of the class for an additional fee!) \nJoin us for an informative Printed Review class! \nA Note About The Printed Review Series \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. DESCRIPTION:What is Color Management? Why is it important to shoot RAW? Why (and How) do I need to calibrate my monitor? Why do images look different on different computers or devices?\nIf you want to know the answers to any of these questions\, we implore you to join us for our Intro to Color Management class\, where we will discuss the importance of all elements of color. We will discuss\, among other points:\n• A brief workflow of how to get the most accurate color\, from camera to print\n• The importance of monitor calibration\, including a live demo\n• The differences in color spaces and monitors\n• How to use the Xrite Colorchecker (and similar reference targets)\nColor management is an essential part of photography. Join us as we demystify the workflow! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! SUMMARY:Creating Cyanotypes Workshop- Hunt's Photo\, Waltham
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we dive into a workshop that will quite literally bring you back to the days of film and hand-printing!\nCyanotypes are quite literally BLUE prints that can be simply made by placing a negative on top of a piece of coated paper (or other material) under UV light (or the sun) for a period of time. Once washed in water\, the resulting print produces a brilliant blue image on a white background.\nWe will begin this workshop with a prerecorded session where we will discuss the process\, materials needed\, and the preparation to be working with the cyanotype chemistry (see notes below). We will also discuss how to create a digital negative. For this workshop\, we will be creating our own digital negatives from an inkjet printer\, so you don’t actually need a negative and you don’t need a printer\, as we will be printing them in the store. Finally\, we will also discuss what to print on. Because we will have the ability to coat a material\, be it paper or fabric\, you can use a variety of printing surfaces\, which will elaborate on.\nPlease note: This session will be recorded\, so if you’re signing up last minute\, you can still watch it!\nDuring the workshop\, we will dive into all these elements. We will go through the process of coating (and drying) papers and fabrics\, creating test and final prints\, and discussing additional elements to change the look of our final prints. This is a unique workshop that will emphasize creativity and process.\nA few items of note:\n• In this workshop\, we will be utilizing cyanotype chemistry\, consisting of ferric ammonium citrate (for light sensitivity) and potassium ferricyanide (for color). As described by the chemistry company Photographers Formulary\, “…[Potassium Ferricyanide] is not particularly toxic… [unless] placed in a strong acid solution; however\, strong acid is not used in the cyanotype process.”\n• Because we will be working with chemistry\, you must follow all instructions given regarding chemistry and personal protective equipment.\n• Because this chemistry can stain\, we will be taking precautions and wearing gloves. We strongly recommend bringing an apron\, one that you won’t mind if it changes colors.

SUMMARY:Developing Color Film- Hunt's Photo Waltham
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we discuss all the key elements of loading and developing film\, and get you to develop a roll on your own! In this workshop\, we will show you how to load film into a developing tank\, discuss the elements of the chemistry involved\, and other various aspects. Because of the many variables\, we will only be using one specific type of developer\, but we will discuss the possibilities of other developers available and their advantages. \nPlease note: This class caters to color/C-41 type film developing only! We will also have a black and white film developing class. All film classes can be found here. \nWe will provide tanks\, reels\, chemistry\, and basically anything that you need to develop your film. All you will need to have is a roll of film to develop. \nWe will also include a free scan of your film after it has been processed! Since your film will be wet at the end of the session\, you will leave it to dry so it can be scanned. The digital scans will be sent directly to your email address. If you would like the negatives to be shipped to another store for pickup\, we can gladly do that!
