In this class\, you’ll learn how to shape the “look” of your images by using light\, shadow\, color\, and composition as storytelling tools. We’ll explore how creative choices influence mood\, energy\, and emotion—helping you capture not just what a subject looks like\, but what it feels like. \nIn Intermediate Photography – Getting the Look\, we’ll go beyond exposure and focus on crafting photographs with intention. Through hands-on exercises\, we’ll explore how to use color theory\, light and shadow\, and compositional techniques to enhance storytelling and create photographs with mood and impact. By the end of the class\, you’ll feel more confident in making creative choices that give your images their own distinct look and feel. \nTaking our Beginner Photography OR Digital Photo Basics 1 and 2 classes (or equivalent experience) is recommended prior to this course.

DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is taken by the Wakefield Rec Department at this Link!\nWednesdays January 7th\, 14th\, 21st\, 28th\, February 4th & 11th\, 4:30-6pm • Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose \nDo you have a budding photographer that you want to encourage? Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a 6-session photography program aimed at strengthening their interest\, improving their photography\, and getting them truly excited about being the artist\, the creator\, and the family photographer! \nOver the course of six sessions\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. In every session we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers taking pictures as much as possible! At the end of each session\, we’ll give an assignment for the following week\, and at the start of the next session\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! Please note: This course is geared towards students aged 12-16 years old. Our age requirement is general and a certain maturity level is helpful.  Younger students with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. DESCRIPTION:Introduction on Comparing Papers- Wednesday February 4th\, 6:30pm ET • Online! \nPrint Review- Wednesday February 11th\, 6:30pm ET • Hunt’s Melrose or Online! \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Comparing Papers! \nWhat does it look like on Matte Paper? What does it look like on Glossy Paper? Why would I print it on one versus the other? What does the paper bring to my image?\nThis Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic– some of the key differences between paper surfaces– and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. Educator Paul Nelson will produce a recorded image review\, discussing paper options\, editing suggestions\, and more\, to be sent back to you leading up to the second session. Paul will then print images for the class. In the end\, you will receive TWO prints of your edited image up to 8.5×11″ in size. It is generally recommended to print the same image on two papers. (Please note: We are happy to make a larger or additional print outside of the class for an additional fee!) \nJoin us for an informative Printed Vision class! \nA Note About The Printed Vision Series \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. These sessions are excellent for anyone: \n• Someone that wants a little help with editing before they get a print \n• Someone that does print but has print-related questions \n• A person that prints often and wants to try a different paper \n• Someone with no knowledge of printing that just wants to get a print! \n  \nCome check out why printing is the best thing to do for your photography! \n  \nIn-Person or Online \nThis class will be taking place in-person in our Melrose store location and online\, in case you cannot attend live. If you cannot attend live\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.

SUMMARY:Flowers Workshop- Still Life\, Macro\, and Focus Stacking - Hunt's Photo Melrose
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, come work with flowers! If you’re just starting out\, learn some of the basics like aperture\, shutter speed\, focus\, exposure\, and composition!  If you have a little bit of experience\, you’ll have the chance to learn more advanced techniques\, such as lighting\, building set-ups\, story telling\, fine-tuning exposure and composition\, and even focus stacking! We’ll also cover how to use macro lenses and extension tubes and more!\nWe will be bringing lots of flowers to photograph. However\, we find in our macro workshops that our attendees value shooting some things of their own as much if not more than what we bring. So\, while we will have flowers\, feel free to bring your own!

Specifically\, we will cover:\n•Brief Computer File Management\n•Importance of Keywords\n•Attributes– flagging\, rating\, color coding\n•Searching metadata to find images\n•And more!\nLightroom is an extremely robust and important manager of files\, and knowing how to utilize it is paramount to being able to find and edit your images! \nThis course is an excellent lead in to our Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic classes.\n \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now.This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.)
