To learn how to do that\, check out our Lightroom File Management courses. \nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 2\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now.This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. DESCRIPTION:Introduction on Printing in Black & White- Wednesday August 26th\, 6:30pm ET • Online! \nPrint Review- Wednesday September 2nd\, 6:30pm ET • Hunt’s Melrose or Online! \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing in Black & White! \nBlack & White printing is classic. It evokes in us certain emotions\, opinions\, senses\, and more. \nPrinting in black & white can also require more forethought. By planning out one’s shot in advance and seeing in black & white\, the photographer has more opportunity to edit in black & white with intent. That being said\, black & whites can also be produced by happy accidents\, too! \nThis class will focus on editing for print in black & white and touch upon what images to consider that will make strong monochrome images. \nThis Print Review topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic– some of the key differences between paper surfaces– and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. Educator Paul Nelson will produce a recorded image review\, discussing paper options\, editing suggestions\, and more\, to be sent back to you leading up to the second session. Paul will then print images for the class. In the end\, you will receive a print of one of your edited images up to 13×19″ in size. (Please note: We are happy to make a larger or additional print outside of the class for an additional fee!) \nJoin us for an informative Printed Review class! \nA Note About The Printed Review Series \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. These sessions are excellent for anyone: \n• Someone that wants a little help with editing before they get a print \n• Someone that does print but has print-related questions \n• A person that prints often and wants to try a different paper \n• Someone with no knowledge of printing that just wants to get a print! \n  \nCome check out why printing is the best thing to do for your photography! \n  \nIn-Person or Online \nThis class will be taking place in-person in our Melrose store location and online\, in case you cannot attend live. SUMMARY:Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose (Pt 2)
DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 2\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! SUMMARY:The Hunt's Photo Education Black and White Weekend Workshop 2026
DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education Presents…The Weekend Workshops: A long weekend featuring education seminars\, photo walks and workshops\, image reviews\, editing\, and fine art printing\, all in glorious black and white. \nDuring the weekend\, each attendee will have the opportunity to attend four Photo Walks/Workshops. We will have an introductory meet and greet and presentation on the first evening that will set the tone and expectations for the weekend\, as well as allow attendees to mingle with other attendees. On days 2 and 3\, our instructors will conduct one Photo Walk in the mid/late morning and one Photo Walk in the evening. They will repeat the same schedule on Friday and Saturday. (So\, if you attend a Photo Walk with Instructor A on Friday morning\, you’ll have the ability to attend a different Photo Walk with Instructor B on Saturday morning.)\nDuring the middle part of Friday and Saturday\, we will have image reviews\, image processing\, and have general photography discussions. You are welcome to attend these\, or you can take a break\, if needed! \nOn Day 4\, we will print and review selected images from all attendees. You are welcome to take these images with you after the workshop! \nThis year will be centered out of our Hunt’s Photo Melrose store location. Our Melrose store has a large classroom area which will be excellent for our editing and review sessions! For planning purposes\, be aware that many of our walks and workshops will be taking place outside of the Melrose area and you will need to travel to those locations. \nJoin us for a fantastic weekend of photo fun! \n  \nPlease Note: We are in the process of finalizing our Photo Walk/Workshop Schedule. SUMMARY:Hunt's Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop V: What We Shoot in the Shadows (with guest photographer Lindsey Ruth)
DESCRIPTION:It’s the scariest time of the year…again! No\, we’re not talking about tax season– It’s Halloween! Join us for our annual Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop! In this workshop\, we will create portraits utilizing a style of lighting reminiscent to that used in Horror films!\nIn this workshop\, we will begin by discussing the style of Horror Lighting\, using examples from the history of horror\, from classic 1930s Universal horror films to 1980s slasher to more modern\, experimental techniques. Instructor Paul Nelson has spent painstaking hours and buckets of popcorn to research the intricacies of horror\, and\, believe it or not\, it’s not all just “monster lighting”. We will photograph both inside and (if weather allows) outside to both recreate and create new in-the-style-of scenes to photograph. We will utilize both our Hunt’s Photo Melrose classrooms as well as locations in the surrounding area to great effect. We’ll discuss how to light and what to use\, create shadows and textures\, use studio space and real-life locations\, work with models and more!\nIn this workshop\, we will cover:\n• How to compose the lighting in a scene\, including how and when to use flash vs LED\n• Flash and LED lighting (important enough to write it on here twice)\n• Using lighting indoor or outside\n• Creating dynamic shadows and effects in your work with lighting\, as well as other light modification\n• How to work with (posing and directing) models to achieve a desired look\n• Developing a creative concept in portraits\, not only using lighting and posing\, but also costumes\, hair\, and make-up\nYou do not need to own a flash or lighting to attend this workshop. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAdded Bonus! \nThis year\, we will be joined by guest photographer and SIGMA Ambassador Lindsey Ruth\, as well as SIGMA lenses! We’re incredibly excited to have more insight and experience for what some of us (*cough Paul*) consider to be our favorite workshop of the year! \nJoin us for this unique\, fun\, and perhaps horrific workshop!
