SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Water Drops (and more!)
DESCRIPTION:Water Drop Photography is a style wherein one drops a liquid into another liquid and photographs it in a way that emphasizes the “unseeable”–little droplets\, the corona of the drop\, and more. This style uses high speed flash in order to stop the action instead of fast shutter speed. It is a simple technique that can be achieved with even the most rudimentary gear\, but it can produce infinitely different results. Just like snowflakes\, you’ll never be able to duplicate a water drop.\nIn this workshop\, we will begin with a live demo describing the gear\, settings\, set-up\, and execution of water drop photography. We’ll then dive right in\, beginning simply and then moving on to not just water droplets\, but also other items! Photographers of all skill levels are welcome\, but one should come with patience!\nTwo important notes: We will be using flash in this workshop. You do not need to own a flash\, and we may use only what we have anyway\, but you are welcome to bring one if you have one in order to understand how to replicate it on your own. Also\, to minimize on gear and space\, we will be working in groups of two. (Trust us\, it’s easier!)

SUMMARY:Printed Vision: Making a Fine Art Print- Hunt's Melrose or Online! (Image Review)
DESCRIPTION:The printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Printed Vision Session: Making a Fine Art Print\nTo print fine art or not to print fine art: That is the question. What does it mean to make a fine art print? What photographic papers define fine art? What editing choices should we make to get through the emotions of the print? How do we calculate our editing with our paper choices? \nIn the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. The instructor will send back a video image review discussing what you did and how to improve your edits for print. The instructor will then print one of the images to be displayed in the Print Review\, which will take place both in-person and online\, in case you cannot attend live. In the end of each session\, you will end up with a print up to 13×19” on Fine Art paper to take home with you. DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education is proud to present our annual Holiday Macro & Tabletop Workshops. These workshops are designed to help you create\, compose\, and photograph stellar mini-holiday masterpieces. Photographers that participate in these workshops will also have one of their holiday photographs printed 13×19″ and hung in the Hunt’s Photo Gallery in Melrose for the month of December. (More details below.)\nWe will begin each workshop with a demo that will discuss camera settings\, lighting\, composition\, subject placement\, and more. You will then create and photograph your compositions for the remainder of the time during the workshop\, with instructor assistance available. Our ultimate goal in this workshop is at least one “final piece” that can be printed on a large scale.\nAt the end of the workshop\, attendees will work edit and process their images individually and submit 1-2 images to the instructors for review\, then print the images as 13×19″. These photographs will be hung in our Hunt’s Photo Gallery in Melrose for the month of December\, after which you will be given the print.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating stellar holiday macro imagery. We will stay with you during the editing process\, and even guide you in understanding the best processing for a final print. Join us for one of our favorite workshops of the year!

SUMMARY:Video Weekend Workshop - From Concept to Final Cut
DESCRIPTION:Join Tamron and Hunt’s Photo Education on a 2-day video production workshop featuring The Kitchen in Melrose! \nTamron Americas and Hunt’s Photo Education are teaming up for a special video workshop led by renowned photographer and filmmaker André Costantini. In this hands-on event\, participants will learn essential video production skills while collaborating on a branding-style video for The Kitchen–a cooking school near our Hunt’s Melrose location– for use on social media. The workshop offers a unique opportunity to work with industry professionals\, gain practical experience\, and contribute to a meaningful project supporting a local culinary institution. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced creator\, this workshop promises valuable insights and a chance to make a real impact through visual storytelling! \nThis is a 2-Part class. Part 1 will be a Video Production Seminar on Friday October 17th\, 6-8pm in our Hunt’s Melrose store location.  We will reconvene on Saturday\, October 18th from 10am-12pm for our Hands-On Location Shoot at The Kitchen in Melrose\, located about a mile from our Hunt’s Melrose store. After shooting\, we will return to Hunt’s Melrose for lunch\, provided by Tamron\, from 12:30-1:30pm. We will then hold a Video Editing Class from 2-5pm in our Hunt’s Melrose classroom. \nAbout Gear- Each attendee will have an opportunity to create footage during the production portion\, but we will all be working together as a group and working on elements of production. Tamron will also have loaner lenses available to use! \nJoin us for a unique shooting experience! \n  \nAbout André Costantini \nAndré is a filmmaker\, editor\, photographer\, and musician. He has spent the past 20 years creating commissioned documentary and industrial films and an award-winning comedy. André has produced and directed several films for PBS including the New England Emmy Award winning film featured the Pulitzer Prize and World Press photojournalist John Moore. His relationship with Tamron spans almost 30 years.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop IV: Friday the f/13th
DESCRIPTION:It’s the scariest time of the year…again! No\, we’re not talking about tax season– It’s Halloween! Join us for our annual Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop! In this workshop\, we will create portraits utilizing a style of lighting reminiscent to that used in Horror films!\nIn this workshop\, we will begin by discussing the style of Horror Lighting\, using examples from the history of horror\, from classic 1930s Universal horror films to 1980s slasher to more modern\, experimental techniques. Instructor Paul Nelson has spent painstaking hours and buckets of popcorn to research the intricacies of horror\, and\, believe it or not\, it’s not all just “monster lighting”. We will then photograph both inside and (if weather allows) outside to both recreate and create new in-the-style-of scenes to photograph. We will utilize both our Hunt’s Photo Melrose classrooms as well as locations in the surrounding area to great effect. We’ll discuss how to light and what to use\, create shadows and textures\, use studio space and real-life locations\, work with models and more!\nIn this workshop\, we will cover:\n• How to compose the lighting in a scene\, including how and when to use flash vs LED\n• Flash and LED lighting (important enough to write it on here twice)\n• Using lighting indoor or outside\n• Creating dynamic shadows and effects in your work with lighting\, as well as other light modification\n• How to work with (posing and directing) models to achieve a desired look\n• Developing a creative concept in portraits\, not only using lighting and posing\, but also costumes\, hair\, and make-up\nYou do not need to own a flash or lighting to attend this workshop. And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer.
