SUMMARY:Hunt's Film Photo Walk: The North End in the Morning
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a unique walk in the North End of Boston– one where all the attendees use only film cameras!\nFilm Photography isn’t the juggernaut that it used to be\, but neither is it the lumbering dinosaur some make it out to be. Film still gives a unique look quite different from digital photography (ahem…grain!) and challenges the photographer to think a bit more about exposure\, focus\, composition\, and more. This walk is an excellent opportunity to work on all of these concepts. Even when we’re not shooting digital\, we can plan out our shots without the instant gratification and review.\nA few notes about our Film Photo Walks\n? Attendees should have a working film camera that they can use for the walk as well as any film they would like to use.\n? Please make sure you have a working battery in the camera.\n? If you are unsure whether your camera is fully functional\, we strongly recommend you contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com and schedule a time that we can check it out!\n? It is also strongly recommended that you either load the film in advance or have an understanding of how to load the film. Again\, if you’re unsure\, contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com.\n? DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education on a beautiful photo walk photographing plants and flowers with an emphasis on macro photography. Due to space constraints\, we will also be working handheld–without tripods! We will maximize our quality to get the best shot while in this situation! This is a great exercise to work handheld to get the best shot! During this walk\, we will work on use of color\, close up/macro photography\, depth of field\, exposure and use of reflectors/diffusers.\nFuller Gardens is a public\, non-profit botanical garden in North Hampton\, New Hampshire. DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Tuesday October 4th\, 7pm EST\nImage Review Tuesday October 18th\, 7pm EST\nWhen someone says\, “They have an eye for photography”\, the general consensus is that they have a good eye for composition. Composition can be both simple and complex\, often at the same time\, and there are an infinite number of variations on those complexities (and simplicities). And even if you have a good eye for composition\, it’s important to train your creative core!\nThus we introduce our Creative Composition Series. In this series\, Hunt’s Photo Education will help strengthen your compositional muscles! In class one\, we will give an overview on a specific style of composition in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field to photograph in that compositional style. We will collect images and reconvene a few weeks later for an online image review to discuss the compositional elements of your image.\nThis month?s composition is Patterns. We will then travel ~22 minutes to our waterfall location to practice long exposures. (Please note: Our location is TBA. UV\, Circular Polarizer (CPL)\, and Neutral Density (ND) filters are all recommended. Students may choose to shoot from the banks of the river\, but the best shots will happen by walking along some rocks. Waterproof boots are your friend!\nWhether you’ve used filters and still have questions\, you’ve never used filters\, or you need a little inspiration\, this is a great opportunity to have some fun with filters!

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts. On this walk\, we will have numerous shooting opportunities from birds to flowers to landscapes and more\, all in the autumn season! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!\nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). This breathtaking waterfall features three distinct cascades that will allow you to learn how to capture and edit unique photos.\nThe first cascade is less than 100 feet from the parking area\, with the other two just a few minutes walk down the path.\nAndy and Jamie will teach you the basics of capturing waterfalls\, including what gear and settings to use for your desired outcome\, the best weather and time of year to visit different waterfalls\, and advanced techniques such as median blending\, panoramas\, and focus stacking.\nThis workshop also includes a 90-minute Zoom editing session where you will learn Jamie and Andy’s techniques for bringing out the most of what we captured at the workshop.

SUMMARY:The Horror! Hunt's Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop!
DESCRIPTION:It’s the scariest time of the year. No\, we’re not talking about tax season– It’s Halloween! As such\, we wanted to create a truly garish workshop that was instructive as it is fun\, creating truly unique imagery that you really won’t be able to get anywhere else. Lighting for Horror! In this workshop\, we will create portraits utilizing a style of lighting reminiscent to that used in Horror films!\nIn this workshop\, we will begin by discussing the style of Horror Lighting\, using examples from the history of horror\, from classic 1930s Universal horror films to 1980s slasher to more modern\, experimental techniques. Instructor Paul Nelson has spent painstaking hours and buckets of popcorn to research the intricacies of horror\, and\, believe it or not\, it’s not all just “monster lighting”. We will then photograph both inside and (if weather allows) outside to both recreate and create new in-the-style-of scenes to photograph. We will utilize both our Hunt’s Photo Melrose classrooms as well as locations in the surrounding area to great affect. We’ll discuss how to light and what to use\, create shadows and textures\, use studio space and real-life locations\, work with models and more!\nIn this workshop\, we will cover:\n? How to compose the lighting in a scene\, including how and when to use flash vs LED\n??Flash and LED lighting (important enough to write it on here twice)\n??Using lighting indoor or outside\n??Creating dynamic shadows and effects in your work with lighting\, as well as other light modification\n? How to work with (posing and directing) models to achieve a desired look\n? Developing a creative concept in portraits\, not only using lighting and posing\, but also costumes\, hair\, and make-up\nYou do not need to own a flash or lighting to attend this workshop. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Museum of Fine Arts Boston
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk in one of Boston?s treasures: the Museum of Fine Arts. Boasting dozens of current exhibits and over 450\,000 pieces of art the MFA is one of the largest museums in the country and in the world. The building itself is full of beautiful architecture and detail.\nCurrently on display at the MFA is a collection of photographic images from Life Magazine. We will incorporate this exhibition into our walk.\nPlease note: This ticket DOES cover the cost of your entrance into the museum.\nAlso… Because tripods and monopods are not allowed\, we will maximize quality in low-light situations. We will discuss how to do this and how to photograph the spaces and artwork within the museum. Please note: Rules and regulations pertaining to photography IN the MFA must be followed at all times.  Consider bringing a prime lens!\nRegarding Personal Photography at the MFA Boston:\nStill photography and video taken from a handheld device of objects in the permanent collection are permitted for personal\, nondistributional\, noncommercial use. Tripods and monopods are strictly not allowed. Please refrain from photography of loans and temporary exhibitions. Flashes\, selfie-sticks\, or video cameras in the galleries are prohibited. No photographs or videotapes may be reproduced\, published\, distributed\, sold\, transferred\, or otherwise commercially exploited without written permission from the MFA.

SUMMARY:Fall-Themed Macro & Still Life Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will spend our day creating a variety of still life set ups\, unique macro scenarios\, and learning about the use of light and light modifiers\, all with the emphasis of our theme\, The Fall! Get your cinnamon sticks and cornucopias ready! How about them apples? Yeah\, we’ll photograph those\, too! It’ll be a fun day with or without pumpkin spice as we set the mood of the October/November season!\nWe will be bringing lots of props and flowers to photograph for this workshop. However\, we find in our macro workshops that our attendees value shooting some things of their own as much if not more than what we bring. So\, while we will have props\, feel free to bring your own props\, trinkets\, and other things that may (or may not) be important to you!
