DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Wednesday January 4th\, 7pm EST\nImage Review Wednesday January 11th\, 7pm EST\nPhotography can be a very technical process\, but more important than the technical prowess of your photograph is the creative center. Join Hunt’s Photo Education’s lead educator Emily Hojnowski on our expanded Alt-Creative Series\, which is all about digging deep into many creative elements in an alternative method of photography! In these classes\, we will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThis month?s topic is Adding Textures in Your Photographs. In the first session\, we will discuss all about textures: why and how to create them\, and how to apply them to your photographs. We will give an overview of how to utilize Photoshop for these aspects.  We will then reconvene for our Image Review on the second date\, giving you time in between to create and edit our assignment.\nJoin us\, do something fun\, and get creative!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Haverhill at Night in Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Join instructor Don Toothaker for a special photo walk in Haverhill\, MA where we will concentrate on being able to see and photograph in Black & White. During the walk\, we will also discuss elements that contribute to become more adept at both Black and White and night photography\, including exposure\, focusing\, composition and much more! Photographers of all skill levels are welcome!\nHaverhill\, Massachusetts was once known as the “Queen Slipper City” for its high percentage of shoes produced in the town. The town retains the look of a manufacturing town\, and this look translates extremely well to the look of Black & White photography. On this walk\, we will move about the downtown area and along the Merrimack River at dusk and into the night. Our task will be to focus our energies into how to effectively see and create images in Black & White.

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for an early morning walk of Good Harbor Beach\, Rockport and its harbor\, Bearskin Neck\, and other points of interest. We will discuss Exposure\, Subject Development\, Image Composition\, HDR\, Black & White Photography and more. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\nRockport is one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a great variety to photograph in Rockport\, from architecture to scenery\, from portraits to macro\, in Color and in Black & White. The town is both vibrant and weathered. We will work on composition\, as well as settings to fine-tune focus and exposure. This Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer! SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Horn Pond in the Winter
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts. On this walk\, we will emphasize landscape\, wildlife\, and macro photography\, all in the beautiful Winter\, as we encounter birds\, flowers and more! We will work on creative imagery\, utilizing the color of the season\, but also discuss black & white photography and techniques such as panning & zooming to create a dramatic and fine art effect. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!\nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). Bring your creative thoughts!\nWe recommend having both a standard zoom lens and telephoto zoom lens\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above.\nPlease note: There will be a good amount of walking on this Photo Walk. Nothing too treacherous\, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes!

DESCRIPTION:Speedlights are a powerful tool with such great possibilities that you can use on and off the camera. Unfortunately\, they can be a finicky tool\, difficult to understand.\nBut they don’t need to be! With a little bit of know-how\, you can create excellent portraits ANYWHERE using your speedlight!\nIn this Creating Portraits with Speedlights Session\, we’ll discuss\, demonstrate\, and then practice with models how to set up a great portrait anywhere using the simplest of tools and methods. In this workshop\, we will specifically be working with speedlights/flash off the camera using triggers.\nMost importantly\, attendees will be guiding the setup (and take down) of all the gear. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own gear\, but we will begin with gear that anyone can use\, including:\n-A Variety of brands of Speedlights\n-Off-Camera Triggers\n-Lightmeters\n-Softboxes\, Reflectors\, and other Diffusers\nLayout of the day:\n9am- Introductions\, brief presentation/discussion on exposure & speedlights\, camera setup\n10am- Begin creating setups\n11-3pm- Photographing with models. DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk in the famous Fenway district of Kenmore Square\, Boston. The Fenway/Kenmore area is one of the most iconic sections of Boston. With numerous universities branching out from ?the Fenway?\, Symphony Hall to the east\, the Fens (Back Bay Fens) and Museum of Fine Arts to the south\, as well as Fenway Park\, Lansdowne Street and Yawkey Way\, it?s easily one of the most diverse sections of Boston.\nWe will be joined on this walk by Billie Weiss– Senior Manager of Photography for the Boston Red Sox. Billie will be co-leading the walk with Hunt’s Photo Educator Ron Phillips and will be helping with photography-related questions\, but also pointing out many of the details in the Fenway area.\nDuring the walk\, we will be photographing on Lansdowne St and the areas inside and around Kenmore square area starting in the late-morning and early afternoon hours. In this workshop– On Site with Mexican Dishes!– we will specifically be working with…you guessed it! The Painted Burro in Waltham will be our classroom for the day\, as we cover the basics for beginners and add challenges for more advanced food photographers.\nGear! They will have lenses on hand that you can use for the workshop for no additional cost!\nPlease Note: To minimize on gear and space\, we will be working in groups of two. SUMMARY:Creative Concept Workshop: Food Drops (and Floating Objects!)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educators Ron Phillips and Paul Nelson for a unique\, informative\, and fun workshop! Drop some food\, take some pictures\, and have some fun!\nPhotography often starts with an idea\, but sometimes those ideas require post-processing to make them a reality. ?I want to capture food in mid-air falling onto a plate.? You know it can be done\, but how can we do it? Ultimately\, this is achieved through the combination of good lighting\, a good setup and technique\, and finally\, multiple exposures combined in post-processing. And while it sounds difficult\, our goal in this workshop will be to break it all down and use simple techniques to get an amazing finished product!\nWe’ll begin with the concept\, pictured above. Working in groups of two\, we will put together the lighting for the scene and set up the composition. Then we will photograph and work on technique and execution. Once we have successful images\, we will then dive into post-processing using Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop\, combining exposures to make an amazing end result.\nA note on editing requirements: For best results\, attendees should bring a laptop with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop installed (and updated). You do not need to be an expert\, but you should have some familiarity with Lightroom and Photoshop.
