SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation
DESCRIPTION:The Charles River Museum of Industry is currently housed in what is considered the first ever factory in America. In Waltham\, the closed factory now plays the role of housing a history of the tools and machinery used in industry. This walk is an excellent chance to photograph the grit of the previous centuries under the Industrial Revolution\, and is a chance to work in low-light environments where the lighting sources cannot be controlled and focus on macro photography. Join us for a wonderful experience!

SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Diagonal Lines
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Tuesday April 16th\, 7pm EST\nImage Review Tuesday May 7th\, 7pm EST \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “Diagonal Lines”. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Long Exposure Photography with Thibault Roland
DESCRIPTION:Photography has the power to freeze time\, to capture the world and reality. In most people’s mind photography has to be truthful to reality. It has to depict a scene\, and atmosphere\, and event accurately. But photography is so much more than a simple tool to document our lives… \nIt is also a way to express ourselves\, our point of view\, to share our messages. Photography is art. Photography can be abstract and minimalistic. It allows us to change what we see based on our emotions and intent. \nLong exposure is a technique that embraces this approach: it transforms reality into something else\, into a dialogue between the artist\, the subject and viewer. By stretching the time used to capture a single image\, the photographer includes movement in their art: water becomes smooth\, clouds create long silky streaks\, trees blur out in the wind… the effects are endless. \nFor this hands-on workshop\, we will meet at our Hunt’s Photo Boston location in the Back Bay\, make our way towards the Charles River\, and after that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. You will use these subjects to create unique-looking images and learn the fascinating technique of long exposure. Don’t miss this chance to refine your skills and explore new photographic perspectives! \nWhat’s Included? \n• Online Introduction to Long Exposure and Infrared Techniques\, presented on Wednesday April 17th\, 7pm EDT \n• In-Person Workshop\, Saturday April 20th\, 10am-2pm \n• Online Editing with Thibault/Image Review\, Sunday May 5th\, 7pm EDT \nSony Sponsored \nThis workshop is sponsored by Sony. As such\, we will have Sony cameras and lenses available for use! Interested in trying a particular Sony product? Just let us know! \nWeather Contingency \nBecause Thibault will be traveling from the West Coast for this workshop\, we will be doing our best to hold this event. This may alter our meeting location or slightly alter the time\, depending on the weather. We will send you any updates leading up to the event! \nAbout Thibault: Born in France in 1981\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland is a scientist by training and fine art photographer. Thanks to his rigorous background he became a Master of techniques such as long exposure\, tilt/shift and infrared photography. He specializes in black and white architecture\, minimalism and seascapes. His fine art photographs have been shown\, published and awarded internationally and are included in public and private collections such as at the Boston Athenaeum. Previously an instructor at the New England School of Photography\, Thibault teaches workshops and gives seminars internationally. Thibault currently lives in Portland\, OR.\nYou can find more information and see Thibault’s work at thibaultroland.com/

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Infrared AND Long Exposure Photography with Thibault Roland
DESCRIPTION:Please note: We have slightly altered the scope of this workshop to include BOTH Infrared and Long Exposure Photography. If you are interested in either topic\, this workshop will be suitable for you! For more info on the Long Exposure element of the workshop\, click here. \nInfrared (IR) photography is a technique that allows us to discover the world we live in under a different light\, literally. It modifies tonalities and contrasts in an image. It captures unique looking images where foliage and other forms of vegetation turn white. \nInfrared is a different approach\, one that steps away from depicting reality and allows the photographer to create their own world. \nThis workshop along the Charles River is appropriate whether you own an IR converted camera or an IR filter. \nThe goal of this workshop is to demystify infrared photography and to teach you how to create unique-looking and striking images. \nIf you own neutral density filters\, it is recommended for you to bring them as we might even mix both IR and long exposure techniques into one! \nWhat’s Included? \n• Online Introduction to Long Exposure and Infrared Techniques\, presented on Wednesday April 17th\, 7pm EDT \n• In-Person Workshop\, Sunday April 21st\, 10am-2pm \n• Online Editing with Thibault/Image Review\, Sunday May 5th\, 7pm EDT \nSony Sponsored \nThis workshop is sponsored by Sony. Attendees will learn everything from the proper equipment and technical skills to navigate a wedding day successfully. In addition\, photographers will learn the importance of client communication\, marketing strategy\, and the back end of running a wedding photography business.\nAnyone that registers for this workshop will also be able to attend our 2-part online Wedding Photography class sessions for no additional charge! A basic knowledge of external lighting is also strongly recommended. \nDetails About the Stylized\, Mock Shoot\nWe will provide all of the basics elements of the wedding-day experience\, including two couples\, the cake\, the floral arrangements\, the venue\, the tux and the gown! \nSponsored by Canon Cameras and Lenses\nThis event is sponsored by Canon\, but ALL photographers\, regardless what camera you have\, are encouraged to attend. Canon loaner gear (cameras and lenses) will be available and free to loan for ANYONE interested! Canon Tech reps will also be on-site for the day! \nAbout our venue\, Olio \nOlio is a wonderfully unique space. It has an industrial feel\, with concrete walls and massive ceilings\, but it retains the warm\, wooden charm of an early-20th century vaudeville theater from which the space originates. (From their website:) “This historic space has been outfitted with every modern amenity to be the ideal space to host functions of all kinds.  We provide a non-traditional venue so that our clients have a blank slate to start from and can make the space their own. Without any décor\, the soaring ceilings and cement walls feel “industrial chic” but clients can transform the space with glitz and glam\, rustic touches\, romantic lighting\, modern lines\, whimsical details\, and vintage furniture.  If you can dream it\, it can be done at Olio.” \nOlio can be a dream to photograph in\, but it can also pose challenges from a lighting perspective. Our workshop will\, in part\, aim to demonstrate how to effectively photograph in this space! \nTentative Schedule of the Day: \n• Introductions\, tour of the venue and how to approach it to photograph\, basic settings and considerations\n• Detail shots\n• Bridal portraits and Groom portraits \n• First look \n• Couple Portraits\n• Wedding ceremony\n• Reception basics and more\n• Wrap up \nTopics Covered\n• Camera settings for different lighting situations\n• Shooting techniques for outdoor and indoor weddings\n• Composition and framing techniques\n• Essential camera gear and accessories\n• Recommendations for back-up equipment\n• Overview of lighting equipment\n• Hair and Makeup details\n• Detail shots (cake\, rings\, bouquet)\n• Tips for capturing candid moments\n• Techniques for shooting group photos and portraits \nRequired Equipment\n• Your camera and a standard zoom lens is a good starting point\n• If you have a second camera body\, it is recommended to bring it.\n• Prime Lenses are an excellent option\, but remember that Canon will also have gear available to loan\, if you want to try anything!\n• Bring extra camera batteries and memory cards\n• A Notebook and writing utensil is a good idea!
