SUMMARY:Macro & Close-Up Photography Workshop- Hunt's Photo Providence
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, come work with macro photography! If you’re just starting out\, learn some of the basics like aperture\, shutter speed\, focus\, exposure\, and composition!  If you have a little bit of experience\, you’ll have the chance to learn more advanced techniques\, such as lighting\, building set-ups\, story telling\, and fine-tuning exposure and composition. We’ll also cover how to use macro lenses and extension tubes and more!\nWe will be bringing lots of props to photograph\, including flowers\, toys\, trinkets\, and more. However\, we find in our macro workshops that our attendees value shooting some things of their own as much if not more than what we bring. So\, while we will have props\, feel free to bring your own props\, trinkets\, and other things that may (or may not) be important to you!\nAdded bonus! Want to learn a bit more about the editing process? Sign up for “Edit & Print” option below and you can stay for an additional section of the afternoon where we’ll work on editing an image with the group and make a really awesome 13×19″ print! SUMMARY:Hunt's May the Fourth Portrait Workshop- Star Wars Cosplay! (Hunt's Photo\, Waltham)
DESCRIPTION:Fear is the path to the dark side\, but good lighting and a fun photo shoot are the paths to successful images! Join Star Wars fanboy (and photography instructor) Paul Nelson as we photograph Star Wars cosplayers for this fun and unique photo workshop. \nWe will start with a brief introduction on how to position lights to create mood and a “cinematic look”\, as well as the difference between using LED and strobe lighting. We will then dive in to photograph our cosplayers with the emphasis on creating a dramatic look. We will utilize our spacious\, new Hunt’s Photo Waltham classroom as well as locations in the surrounding area. We’ll discuss how to light and what to use\, create shadows and textures\, use studio space and real-life locations\, work with models and more!\nIn this workshop\, we will cover:\n• How to compose the lighting in a scene\, including how and when to use flash vs LED\n• Flash and LED lighting (important enough to write it on here twice)\n• Using lighting indoor or outside\n• Creating dynamic shadows and effects in your work with lighting\, as well as other light modification\n• How to work with (posing and directing) models to achieve a desired look\n• Developing a creative concept in portraits\, not only using lighting and posing\, but also costumes (and if applicable\, hair and make-up)\nYou do not need to own a flash or lighting to attend this workshop. DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educator and Professional Wedding and Portrait Photographer Rebecca Cee for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be emphasizing posing couples!\nThis class is designed for photographers who want to learn how to pose couples\, and put their subjects at ease. Rebecca teaches modern techniques for posing couples: Rather than static posing\, she will emphasize how to work with movement and casual posing to create a more natural look!\nFor this workshop\, we will be photographing outside in natural light at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston. If you’d like to learn a little bit about when to use flash\, we are also happy to teach that in the workshop\, but the focus will primarily be on shooting in natural light. We will spend the bulk of the day photographing couples and discussing different settings\, starting in the mid-afternoon and working into the golden hour.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Steam Punk in Waltham!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a workshop where we will work specifically on environmental portraiture in a street photography setting with the most outrageous (and awesome) subjects- Steampunk! \nFounded in 2011\, the Waltham Steampunk Festival is the oldest outdoor Steampunk Festival in the country. Steampunk is an aesthetic and fashion that often mixes old-fashioned design (ex. Victorian/19th century era) with futuristic technology\, or at least futuristic from the design’s standpoint. Colorful personalities\, eccentric clothing\, boisterous jewelry\, and clever gadgetry are just some of the elements to expect from this fun day! During the annual festival\, attendees and vendors gather to show off their unique outfits and inventions.  It is a spectacular event for photographers to experience and photograph. \nOn this workshop\, we will photograph at the festival for the majority of the day\, meeting at 9:30am (prior to the start) until the end of the festival at 5pm. (If you cannot attend for the entirety\, that’s OK\, but we will be in attendance for the day!) These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “A 4-Picture Story”. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Revolutionary War Encampment at Strawberry Banke with Image Review
DESCRIPTION:In April of 1775\, organized militia from the American Colonies\, subjects of the British Crown\, stood firm against a far superior British Army that descended upon Lexington and Concord in an attempt to capture leaders of the growing revolt taking place in the colonies.  On the village green in Lexington “the shot heard ‘round the world” was fired and touched off the American Revolution.  Today\, dedicated re-enactors keep the history of that moment alive in various reenactments such as realistic encampments full of people\, color\, tone\, and detail.  Join us for a creative journey back in time! \nOn this workshop\, we will photograph at the encampment for the morning and early afternoon\, meeting at 9:30am (prior to the start) until 1 or 2pm. (The event will continue until about 4pm\, but we will only be on site until between 1 and 2pm. You are welcome to stay on for the remainder of the afternoon.) DESCRIPTION:Learning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. And while we also offer other wonderful Beginner Photography classes to get you started\, nothing is truly the same as hands-on in-the-field! It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings.\nIn this outdoor\, hands-on class\, you’ll learn all about the basics of photography. We will discuss Exposure (how light works with the camera)\, the Big Three Settings (Aperture\, Shutter Speed\, & ISO)\, how they affect your picture and how to set them\, and what mode to set it to on your camera! We’ll discuss changing depth-of-field (controlling what?s in focus in the background)\, stopping or blurring the action in your scene\, and many other basic picture-taking techniques. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about your camera in a fun and safe environment! Join us to strengthen your photographic knowledge!\nIn this session of Beginner Photography in the Field…\n…we will be going to the Roger Williams Park in Providence. The Roger Williams Park is a massive area of greenery and beauty in Providence with a Rose Garden\, Japanese Garden\, beautifully constructed buildings\, such as the gazebo\, peaceful waterways\, quaint bridges\, and so much more! There is so much to photograph there and a wonderful variety of subject matter\, including textures\, angles\, and compositions that can lead to some truly excellent photographs.
