SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Astrophotography Workshop with Special Guest Jack Fusco\, Sponsored by SIGMA
DESCRIPTION:Intro Presentation: Wednesday\, July 8th\, 7pm ET • Online \nIn-the-Field: Friday\, July 10th\, 6pm-midnight\nImage Review: Tuesday\, July 14th\, 7pm ET • Online \nPlease note: This workshop is being offered with both Friday and Saturday sessions. Make sure to register for the correct date! \nJoin professional photographer and SIGMA Ambassador Jack Fusco along with Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski for a special astrophotography workshop in Acadia National Park! This workshop will consist of three parts: An introduction on astrophotography\, a workshop in the field\, and an online image review after the workshop. \nDuring the Intro Presentation\, Jack will be guiding you through the basics of astrophotography all the way up to some advanced techniques. Jack will also review some basic astronomy information that will help you plan and capture images of the stars. The goal of this class is for you to leave with the knowledge and ability to shoot the stars on your own!\nDuring the In-the-Field session\, Jack will lead a small group of photographers to one of the darkest locations on the East Coast\, Acadia National Park. Under these incredible dark skies\, Jack will review techniques discussed during the introduction by putting them into practice.\nAfter the workshop\, we will regroup for an online critique session\, recorded if you cannot attend live. \nWhat You Will Learn \n\nWe will meet on location with time to scout and plan compositions.\nJack will share his personal approach to how he would plan an entire night to maximize his time shooting and ensure that he leaves with images he is excited about.\nThe night will begin chasing as many Milky Way compositions and shooting techniques as possible and end with time to shoot star trails.\n\nWhat You Should Bring \n\nA DSLR or Mirrorless Camera with manual settings\nA fast aperture lens\nExtra batteries (2 or more) and memory cards (64gb+)\nA sturdy tripod\nShutter Release / Intervalometer\nRed light equipped headlamp\, the red light will be less harsh on our eyes and help keep night vision intact!\nWarm clothing – Dress in layers to help stay warm\nWear decent hiking shoes/boots to manage the terrain\nWater/Snacks\n\nSIGMA LOANER GEAR!\nWe will also have a selection of SIGMA lenses for attendees to use during the location outings each night. These lenses are EXTREMELY useful\, as you will be able to utilize some of the best glass in ideal situations! Please note: If you are using Canon R mounts\, make sure to bring an adapter. \n  \nAbout Jack Fusco\n \nJack Fusco is a professional landscape astrophotographer / timelapser. What began as a way purely to document his travels as a touring musician\, photography has become his main form of creative expression. \nOn his often-sleepless journey\, he strives to share the wonder of the night sky with as many people as possible. Whether chasing the Milky Way along coast lines or capturing the Northern lights in unforgiving remote locations you’re sure to find him coffee in hand\, smiling up at the stars. \nMany of Jack’s images are often planned days\, weeks\, or even months in advance while waiting for weather and celestial objects to align. The resulting work shows a true and complete dedication to his craft. \nHis work has been featured by National Geographic\, TEDx\, LA Times\, NASA APOD\, BBC\, Forbes and many more. \nMore info on Jack can be found at his website\, Instagram\, Facebook\, and Twitter. \nWho should sign up?\nAnyone is welcome to attend this workshop\, but it is generally recommended that attendees have a general understanding of exposure\, aperture\, shutter speed\, and ISO for this workshop. \nRegarding inclement weather\nWe will do our very best to control the weather each night…or at least monitor the weather leading up to the event! If one night looks particularly improbable\, you may have the opportunity to shift to a surrounding night. Again\, we will monitor it leading up to the event. \nRegarding Lodging\nDue to the late finish\, you may consider staying in a local hotel. We do not have any agreements with local hotels\, but Bar Harbor\, Northwest Harbor\, Southwest Harbor\, and North Mt Desert Island have a number of hotel and cottage options available on the Mount Desert Island. Towns just off the island\, such as Ellsworth\, offer more affordable rates within a 30-minute drive.  \nOne last note\nThere are two date options for the in-the-field portion of the workshop\, so please make sure to register for the correct day.

SUMMARY:Capture the Moment Portrait Shootout with Sony and Tony Gale- Hunt's Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education and Sony for a hands-on event with a trio of photographers (Sony Ambassador Tony Gale\, frequent Hunt’s Photo Education guest instructor Henry Marte\, and Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson) guiding you to capture amazing portraits! \nIn this Portrait Shootout\, we will have four unique portrait setups for you to photograph. Each setup will be a little different\, placing our models in unique scenery\, props and costumes. All setups will have lighting provided. The goal is to put you\, the photographer\, in front of as many opportunities to capture unique portraits. Through scenery\, props\, costumes\, atmosphere\, and lighting\, you’ll be able transform a simple portrait into a more complex story! You also don’t need to be an expert at any of these elements to participate. Many of these setups will be built\, so you don’t need to worry about knowing the lighting or even how to pose the model! However\, we will have enough instructors to describe how or why you light or pose a subject in a specific way\, if you want to know! \nOur Capture the Moment events aim to inspire and invigorate photographers to create something amazing. Join us for this fantastic opportunity! \nThis event is sponsored by Sony\, but ALL photographers\, regardless what camera you have\, are encouraged to attend. Sony loaner gear (cameras and lenses) will be available for ANYONE interested! (Make sure to bring a driver’s license and credit card for loaners.) \nSony Contest! \nIn addition to the event\, attendees will have the opportunity to post up their best image to IG in an attempt to win a prize. Details to be announced at the event! \nAbout Tony: \nSony Ambassador Tony Gale is a NYC based award winning portrait  photographer shooting for a range of advertising\, editorial and corporate clients. Tony was raised in Bellingham\, Washington (90 miles north of Seattle) and spent most of his time as a child exploring the woods behind his parents house. At 19 after visiting Bruce Lee’s grave in Seattle\, and taking his first photo with a disposable camera\, he bought his first camera. He promptly broke it and bought his first SLR. At 21\, he moved to Seattle to pursue photography and in fall of 2000 moved to NYC\, the center of the world. \nTony has taught photographic lighting at FIT in NYC and Parsons the New School for Design\, judged photo contests\, and has traveled the country leading workshops for American Photographic Artists. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Shelburne Falls and the Bridge of Flowers
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a walk around Shelburne Falls\, Massachusetts and the picturesque “Bridge of Flowers”.\nShelburne Falls was once a great fishing area for Native Americans\, but progressed into a manufacturing town. This area has a nice view and allows for interesting shots of the falls. The old trolley bridge was converted into a walkway and managed by the women of the town. They planted flowers and shrubs to create a more pleasing atmosphere. Today\, thousands of visitors come to view this area and photograph the flowers.\nAlthough the falls setting is more of a landscape viewing\, the bridge of flowers poses an excellent opportunity for macro lovers. We will divide our time on this walk between macro/close-up photography on and around the bridge and landscape/longer exposure photography around the falls . This will be an excellent opportunity to utilize both macro lenses and neutral density filters.
