SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- A Sense of Time
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Wednesday August 20th\, 7pm EST\nImage Review – Wednesday September 3rd\, 7pm EST \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “A Sense of Time”. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Explorer Series- New Bedford Historic District
DESCRIPTION:Photographers scout locations before a scheduled event or workshop to pre-determine viable places for exploration\, creativity\, and learning. The scouting process often involves targeting specific areas of interest as well as wandering curiously with an open mind to find other points of interest. Almost every photographer new to a location starts with a clean slate and learns as they go. Planning can be beneficial\, but serendipity can be joyously fruitful. Whether a moment is planned or spontaneous\, learning and growth are essential. \nThe Hunt’s Photo Explorer Series will consist of excursions that vary in duration depending on the chosen location\, and locations will be places not previously visited or scouted for a Hunt’s Photo Walk\, Adventure\, or Workshop. Everyone will meet at a designated parking location and then begin exploring both in a group and individual format\, so as to understand what to look for on a scouting location (and to scout on one’s own). Exploring locations “sight unseen” allows individual’s unique opportunities to further develop their photography skills and creative vision. \nNew Bedford Historic District\, New Bedford\, Massachusetts \nDuring the 19th century\, New Bedford was the center of the whaling industry in New England. With the decline of the whaling industry in the 20th century\, the city committed itself to preserving much of its rich maritime history. The New Bedford Historic District\, formed in 1966\, features original cobblestone streets\, buildings dating back to the 1700s\, unique architecture\, a whaling museum\, and more. We will explore the details\, textures\, colors\, and tones of the Historic District as well as street photography\, architectural photography\, and more.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Astrophotography Workshop in the White Mountains
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation- One-Shot Astro: Tuesday\, August 19th\, 7pm ET • Online! \nIn-the-Field: Friday\, August 22nd\, 6:30pm-midnight \nPlease note: This workshop is being offered with both Friday and Saturday sessions. Make sure to register for the correct date! \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski for a special astrophotography workshop in Central New Hampshire! This workshop will consist of two parts: An introduction to astro\, presented earlier in the week\, and a workshop in the field in the White Mountains. \nDuring the introduction\, Astrophotography 101- One-Shot Astro\, Emily will cover everything you need to get started: brainstorming an idea\, planning the shot\, working in the field\, and processing the image in Lightroom. All are welcome to register for this class\, but the presentation is free to attend for all attending the workshop. During the in-the-field sessions\, Emily will lead a small group of photographers to a fantastic view of the night sky in Central New Hampshire. While on location\, we will review techniques discussed during the lecture by putting them into practice! If possible\, we will also work on some light painting techniques in the field! \nThis workshop is an intermediate level class. While photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend\, they should have a solid understanding of how to make changes on their cameras. \nMeeting Location \nOur workshop will be taking place in the White Mountains. We will send more specifics to those registered leading up to the workshop date. Attendees may choose to stay at a nearby hotel overnight. If you do\, consider the towns of Lincoln and Bartlett\, as our spots will be in-between those locations. Conway and North Conway are further\, but also options. \nRegarding inclement weather\nWe will do our very best to control the weather each night…or at least monitor the weather leading up to the event! We have two separate days for this workshop\, and if one night looks particularly improbable\, you may have the opportunity to shift to a surrounding night. Again\, we will monitor it leading up to the event. \nCancellations \nDue to the small group size\, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made within 72-hours.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Bugs in the Field with Emilie Talpin\, Lincoln NH
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski and guest photographer Emilie Talpin photographing BUGS in the field! On this workshop\, attendees will be hand held\, photographing close-up (macro) with an emphasis on bugs as we work our way along a gardened street in Lincoln\, NH.  \nAttendees should have a camera and macro lens\, but would also benefit from having a flash/speedlight for this workshop\, as well as a flash diffuser. If you don’t have a flash or diffuser\, we sell them at Hunt’s Photo and some are available to rent. Feel free to reach out to us at classes@huntsphoto.com if you have questions. Emilie also has a great video on how to make your own diffuser here. \nJoin us for this fun\, workshop! \n  \nAbout Emilie\nEmilie Talpin is an OM SYSTEM ambassador who grew up in Chalon sur Sa?ne\, France\, the birthplace of Nic?phore Ni?pce and the first photograph. Despite this background\, she got into photography late and\, in 2018\, joined a local camera club where she met a group of talented photographers and was inspired to dive deeper into the art of capturing moments in time. She attributes part of her success as a photographer to switching from heavy and cumbersome gear to a camera system that is lighter and more versatile. She bought the OMD Em1 Mark II\, a wildlife and a macro lens\, and has never looked back. She is particularly interested in macro photography\, especially in the art of capturing water drop refraction.\nYou can read her articles: https://learnandsupport.getolympus.com/about-emilie-talpin\nContact\nInstagram: @emilietalpin ( https://www.instagram.com/emilietalpin/ )\nWebsite: https://emilietalpin.smugmug.com/ )\nYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsyFkE7rIxyID4-VRHcRXvg )

DESCRIPTION:About the Nifty Fifty Workshops\nEvery photographer at one point or another has the internal struggle before going to photograph: What lenses should I bring with me today? The common answer is as many as I can without being too uncomfortable. And so we pack up our wide\, standard\, telephoto\, prime\, and macro lenses and head out into the field\, forcing ourselves to endure limitless choices while sacrificing simplicity.\nOur Nifty Fifty workshops flip the script and force you to only carry one lens: A 50mm lens\, nostalgically referred to as a “nifty fifty”. What can you achieve? \nFor this walk… we will be photographing in Portsmouth\, New Hampshire. Portsmouth is a large eclectic town along the coast\, featuring a blend of new and old architecture amid a variety of shops\, restaurants\, docks\, boats\, and colors. During the walk\, we will photograph in the morning light and work with a 50mm lens to your advantage! We will work on capturing the scene\, but also elements of street photography and storytelling\, if applicable! Photographers of all levels are welcome! \n  \n*Question: Are other prime lenses acceptable? Olympus/Panasonic users may use a 25mm lens\, since it gives the same look as a 50mm and other primes can be used as an alternative\, but we ask that you try to keep it at one prime in as close to that range as possible.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Sports Portraits and Portraits in Action
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and portrait and sports photographer Henry Marte for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be creating dynamic lighting scenarios involving athletes\, both posed and in motion! Attendees will learn about how to create amazing portraits using a mixture of natural light and flash\, understand subject placement\, when and why to use strobes (and where to place them)\, and will end up with some excellent portfolio-building images! \nIn this workshop\, we will begin by developing dynamic lighting setups with natural light and flash. During the second half of the workshop\, we will take it a step further by adding in movement and action\, a unique and fun look in our end result!   We will use Westcott strobes and have a series of athlete-models available for the shoot. \nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process of lighting a subject\, how to properly expose while using strobes\, and how to actually use the strobes themselves!\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Do NOT Be Literal
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Thursday September 25th\, 7pm EST\nImage Review – Monday October 13th\, 7pm EST \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “Do NOT be Literal”. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

On this walk\, we will work on architectural photography\, image composition\, low light and night photography\, working in monochrome\, and other ways of creating images expressively.\nThe city of Lowell is a wonderful example of an old New England mill town. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Explorer Series- Bristol Vermont Harvest Festival
\nBristol\, Vermont Harvest Festival \nHarvest season in New England is ripe with colors\, textures\, and positivity.  The quaint town of Bristol Vermont hosts this annual celebration of autumn harvest with vendors\, music\, food\, and people.  We will spend the day exploring the best of the festival and Bristol. \nWe will also regroup for an image review on October 1st.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop IV: Friday the f/13th
DESCRIPTION:It’s the scariest time of the year…again! No\, we’re not talking about tax season– It’s Halloween! Join us for our annual Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop! In this workshop\, we will create portraits utilizing a style of lighting reminiscent to that used in Horror films!\nIn this workshop\, we will begin by discussing the style of Horror Lighting\, using examples from the history of horror\, from classic 1930s Universal horror films to 1980s slasher to more modern\, experimental techniques. Instructor Paul Nelson has spent painstaking hours and buckets of popcorn to research the intricacies of horror\, and\, believe it or not\, it’s not all just “monster lighting”. We will then photograph both inside and (if weather allows) outside to both recreate and create new in-the-style-of scenes to photograph. We will utilize both our Hunt’s Photo Melrose classrooms as well as locations in the surrounding area to great effect. We’ll discuss how to light and what to use\, create shadows and textures\, use studio space and real-life locations\, work with models and more!\nIn this workshop\, we will cover:\n• How to compose the lighting in a scene\, including how and when to use flash vs LED\n• Flash and LED lighting (important enough to write it on here twice)\n• Using lighting indoor or outside\n• Creating dynamic shadows and effects in your work with lighting\, as well as other light modification\n• How to work with (posing and directing) models to achieve a desired look\n• Developing a creative concept in portraits\, not only using lighting and posing\, but also costumes\, hair\, and make-up\nYou do not need to own a flash or lighting to attend this workshop. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.\nJoin us for this unique\, fun\, and perhaps horrific workshop!

SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- A Sense of the Season WITHOUT foliage
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Thursday October 16th\, 7pm EST\nImage Review – Tuesday October 28th\, 7pm EST \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “A Sense of the Season WITHOUT foliage”. Fall in New England is a spectacular and inspiring season.  Colors abound everywhere as tree foliage turn from green to brilliant yellows\, orange\, and red.  However\, there is much more to Fall in New England than colorful foliage.  Explore other aspects of the season without foliage. \nWe will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Explorer Series- Historic Deerfield\, Massachusetts
\nHistoric Deerfield\, Massachusetts \nThe town of Deerfield in Western Massachusetts is a small town with a pleasant New England-style\, with rural landscapes\, old homes\, and a quaint feel. Historic Deerfield is a small section of the town that consists of villages preserved from the 18th & 19th centuries. We will spend the day exploring the areas inside and out! \nWe will also regroup for an image review on October 23rd.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Nature at Horn Pond
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts. On this walk\, we will emphasize landscape\, wildlife\, and macro photography! We will work on creative imagery\, utilizing the color of the season\, but also discuss black & white photography and techniques such as panning & zooming to create a dramatic and fine art effect. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!\nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). Bring your creative thoughts!\nWe recommend having both a standard zoom lens and telephoto zoom lens\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above.\nPlease note: There will be a good amount of walking on this Photo Walk. Nothing too treacherous\, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes!
