SUMMARY:Capture to Print: Flowers and Macro Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Printing your photos will make you a better photographer. The first step to creating a great print is by understanding how to create a great photograph in the field.\nCapture-To-Print is an intermediate workshop that focuses not only on photography\, but also editing and printing! Half photo workshop\, half editing and printing\, we will take you through the whole process–from Capture to Print— to demonstrate what is important in the field\, how to effectively process photos\, and why printing is a necessity.\nWe will begin in our classroom with lighting setups and a variety of flowers\, which we will photograph over the course of the morning. We will transition from photographing to editing in the early afternoon. Attendees are encouraged to bring their computers–laptops or all-in-ones are fine (iMacs are welcome)–in order to do their own editing. Attendees should have Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop\, or a comparable program on their computer. We will be available to help with the processing of images during this time. We will then view these edits\, critique\, and discuss them with the rest of the class while also creating 13×19″ prints.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating a photograph. The process of printing is integral to developing one’s photographic vision. \nApproximate schedule for the day:\n9am- Introductions\, discussion of lighting and macro techniques\n9:30am- Photographing of flowers\, macro\n12pm- Begin editing (Attendees are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch and take a short break during this time)\n1pm- Review\, critique\, and printing

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Nifty Fifty Workshop: Olde Sturbridge Village
DESCRIPTION:About the Nifty Fifty Workshops\nEvery photographer at one point or another has the internal struggle before going to photograph: What lenses should I bring with me today? The common answer is as many as I can without being too uncomfortable. And so we pack up our wide\, standard\, telephoto\, prime\, and macro lenses and head out into the field\, forcing ourselves to endure limitless choices while sacrificing simplicity.\nOur Nifty Fifty workshops flip the script and force you to only carry one lens: A 50mm lens\, nostalgically referred to as a “nifty fifty”. With limitations\, what can you– the photographer\, the creator\, the artist– achieve? \nWorkshop Description\nLocated an hour west of Boston\, Sturbridge Village is a proud replication of an 18th century New England town. Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era. \nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. On this workshop\, we will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will focus our energies and use only a 50mm lens to create our photographs\, which will be both limiting and expressive! \nJoin us for a great experience! \n*Question: Are other prime lenses acceptable? Olympus/Panasonic users may use a 25mm lens\, since it gives the same look as a 50mm and other primes can be used as an alternative\, but we ask that you try to keep it at one prime in as close to that range as possible. Remember- this is a “nifty fifty” workshop\, not a “mighty ninety” workshop. (And does that even really rhyme?)

Since then\, she has worked tirelessly with hundreds of bands\, had her music photography published just as many times (in print and online)\, and received Senior Journalist positions at three music magazines\, such as Outburn Magazine. She had previously worked for Substream Magazine\, and had her work featured in Revolver Magazine\, AP\, Blabbermouth\, and more. Anabel loves promoting all of the musicians that grace the front of her lens\, and found a deep love for writing about their music. As of 2017\, Anabel can officially say that her music work has reached an international level\, with her photography being published in various music outlets within Finland\, England\, and Norway. \nIn 2015\, Anabel DFlux had officially made her photography classes available to the public\, and in 2017\, she had been offered a positions as an educational writer for several online photography resources. As a self-taught photographer\, Anabel feels that she has a different understanding of learning\, and loves to offer that to students that have not had much success with traditional learning schemes and lesson plans. She teaches students of all skill levels and with all types of camera equipment\, as well as post processing techniques and artistic business management skills. Her goal is to ensure that everyone understands the maximum capabilities of their equipment so that they can go forth and create the work that they dream of! SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Diagonal Lines
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Tuesday April 16th\, 7pm EST\nImage Review Tuesday May 7th\, 7pm EST \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “Diagonal Lines”. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Long Exposure Photography with Thibault Roland
DESCRIPTION:Photography has the power to freeze time\, to capture the world and reality. In most people’s mind photography has to be truthful to reality. It has to depict a scene\, and atmosphere\, and event accurately. But photography is so much more than a simple tool to document our lives… \nIt is also a way to express ourselves\, our point of view\, to share our messages. Photography is art. Photography can be abstract and minimalistic. It allows us to change what we see based on our emotions and intent. \nLong exposure is a technique that embraces this approach: it transforms reality into something else\, into a dialogue between the artist\, the subject and viewer. By stretching the time used to capture a single image\, the photographer includes movement in their art: water becomes smooth\, clouds create long silky streaks\, trees blur out in the wind… the effects are endless. \nFor this hands-on workshop\, we will meet at our Hunt’s Photo Boston location in the Back Bay\, make our way towards the Charles River\, and after that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. You will use these subjects to create unique-looking images and learn the fascinating technique of long exposure. Don’t miss this chance to refine your skills and explore new photographic perspectives! \nWhat’s Included? \n• Online Introduction to Long Exposure and Infrared Techniques\, presented on Wednesday April 17th\, 7pm EDT \n• In-Person Workshop\, Saturday April 20th\, 10am-2pm \n• Online Editing with Thibault/Image Review\, Sunday May 5th\, 7pm EDT \nSony Sponsored \nThis workshop is sponsored by Sony. As such\, we will have Sony cameras and lenses available for use! Interested in trying a particular Sony product? Just let us know! \nWeather Contingency \nBecause Thibault will be traveling from the West Coast for this workshop\, we will be doing our best to hold this event. This may alter our meeting location or slightly alter the time\, depending on the weather. We will send you any updates leading up to the event! \nAbout Thibault: Born in France in 1981\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland is a scientist by training and fine art photographer. Thanks to his rigorous background he became a Master of techniques such as long exposure\, tilt/shift and infrared photography. He specializes in black and white architecture\, minimalism and seascapes. His fine art photographs have been shown\, published and awarded internationally and are included in public and private collections such as at the Boston Athenaeum. Previously an instructor at the New England School of Photography\, Thibault teaches workshops and gives seminars internationally. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Infrared AND Long Exposure Photography with Thibault Roland
DESCRIPTION:Please note: We have slightly altered the scope of this workshop to include BOTH Infrared and Long Exposure Photography. If you are interested in either topic\, this workshop will be suitable for you! For more info on the Long Exposure element of the workshop\, click here. \nInfrared (IR) photography is a technique that allows us to discover the world we live in under a different light\, literally. It modifies tonalities and contrasts in an image. It captures unique looking images where foliage and other forms of vegetation turn white. \nInfrared is a different approach\, one that steps away from depicting reality and allows the photographer to create their own world. \nThis workshop along the Charles River is appropriate whether you own an IR converted camera or an IR filter. \nThe goal of this workshop is to demystify infrared photography and to teach you how to create unique-looking and striking images. \nIf you own neutral density filters\, it is recommended for you to bring them as we might even mix both IR and long exposure techniques into one! \nWhat’s Included? \n• Online Introduction to Long Exposure and Infrared Techniques\, presented on Wednesday April 17th\, 7pm EDT \n• In-Person Workshop\, Sunday April 21st\, 10am-2pm \n• Online Editing with Thibault/Image Review\, Sunday May 5th\, 7pm EDT \nSony Sponsored \nThis workshop is sponsored by Sony. Without any décor\, the soaring ceilings and cement walls feel “industrial chic” but clients can transform the space with glitz and glam\, rustic touches\, romantic lighting\, modern lines\, whimsical details\, and vintage furniture.  If you can dream it\, it can be done at Olio.” \nOlio can be a dream to photograph in\, but it can also pose challenges from a lighting perspective. Our workshop will\, in part\, aim to demonstrate how to effectively photograph in this space! \nTentative Schedule of the Day: \n• Introductions\, tour of the venue and how to approach it to photograph\, basic settings and considerations\n• Detail shots\n• Bridal portraits and Groom portraits \n• First look \n• Couple Portraits\n• Wedding ceremony\n• Reception basics and more\n• Wrap up \nTopics Covered\n• Camera settings for different lighting situations\n• Shooting techniques for outdoor and indoor weddings\n• Composition and framing techniques\n• Essential camera gear and accessories\n• Recommendations for back-up equipment\n• Overview of lighting equipment\n• Hair and Makeup details\n• Detail shots (cake\, rings\, bouquet)\n• Tips for capturing candid moments\n• Techniques for shooting group photos and portraits \nRequired Equipment\n• Your camera and a standard zoom lens is a good starting point\n• If you have a second camera body\, it is recommended to bring it.\n• Prime Lenses are an excellent option\, but remember that Canon will also have gear available to loan\, if you want to try anything!\n• Bring extra camera batteries and memory cards\n• A Notebook and writing utensil is a good idea!
