SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Haverhill at Night in Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Join instructor Don Toothaker for a special photo walk in Haverhill\, MA where we will concentrate on being able to see and photograph in Black & White. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome!\nHaverhill\, Massachusetts was once known as the “Queen Slipper City” for its high percentage of shoes produced in the town. On this walk\, we will move about the downtown area and along the Merrimack River at dusk and into the night. Our task will be to focus our energies into how to effectively see and create images in Black & White.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Morning on the Charles River Esplanade
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk featuring a morning along the Charles River Esplanade.\nThe Charles River Esplanade has experienced immense changes over the past 100 years to what we see today. Originally “The Embankment”\, the area expanded in the first half of the 20th century to include boat landings\, playgrounds\, trees and plant life\, and the Hatch Memorial Shell. In the second half of the 20th century\, Storrow Drive and the Dr. Paul Dudley White Bike Path–an 18-mile stretch– were added.\nPhotography will start at the Storrow Lagoon location working our way along the Charles River and back towards the Longfellow Bridge. We will explore scenes and compositions as we go making use of morning light. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!

SUMMARY:Analog Love- Working with Large Format Film: Portraits
DESCRIPTION:In the days of film\, 35mm was the standard format\, 120 was medium format (often called “2 1/4”\, describing it in inches)\, and anything larger than that was considered “large format”. Large Format film photography consisted of 4×5″ and larger sizes of negatives\, with 4×5 being the most common\, followed by 8×10″ and 5×7″. Large format films require specific cameras and lenses and are very different experiences than working with modern digital cameras.\nLarge format film photography creates large negatives\, and the advantage to those negatives are the vast detail that they capture as well as an incredible range of depth of field. Although modern digital cameras are amazing\, the large format “look” cannot be duplicated by modern cameras and is unique.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education’s Paul Nelson\, who has been photographing with 4×5 cameras and film for over 20 years\, for the first in a series of classes on working with large format photography! In this workshop\, we will begin by learning the basics of large format cameras\, including setting up\, attaching lenses\, using the focusing rails\, learning how to focus\, and how to see focus on the ground glass. We’ll continue by loading film into film holders\, then put it all into practice by taking portraits! In the end\, we’ll develop the film and you’ll end up with some spectacular large format images!\nDoes this all sound foreign? Don’t fret!\n?If you don’t have a 4×5 camera\, we can provide you with one! Make sure to let us know upon registration if you will need a 4×5 camera!\n?You do not have to have ANY experience with large format or film photography! All you need is a passion for the subject!\n?We will provide up to 10 sheets of 4×5 film and film holders to each attendee. (If you plan to bring a camera larger than 4×5\, please let us know. An additional charge may apply for larger format films.)\n?We will provide any chemistry for developing black & white film.\nCome check out the incredible\, unique look of large format!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Filter Workshop: Using Filters in the Field
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a morning of learning what filters we want to use in photography\, how to use them\, and then go out into the field to get some hands-on practice!\nWe will begin in our Hunt’s Photo Manchester classroom to learn about filters\, how to use them properly\, how to attach them to the camera\, and\, if applicable\, purchase filters. We will then travel ~22 minutes to our waterfall location to practice long exposures. (Please note: Our location is TBA. To minimize confusion\, we will let you know in the confirmation email after purchase.) There are many small falls here – wide angle\, normal zoom\, and telephoto are all recommended. UV\, Circular Polarizer (CPL)\, and Neutral Density (ND) filters are all recommended. Students may choose to shoot from the banks of the river\, but the best shots will happen by walking along some rocks. Waterproof boots are your friend!\nWhether you’ve used filters and still have questions\, you’ve never used filters\, or you need a little inspiration\, this is a great opportunity to have some fun with filters!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Nature at Horn Pond
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). Bring your creative thoughts!\nWe recommend having both a standard zoom lens and telephoto zoom lens\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above.\nPlease note: There will be a good amount of walking on this Photo Walk. Nothing too treacherous\, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Posing for Couples
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educator and Professional Wedding and Portrait Photographer Rebecca Wade for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be emphasizing posing couples!\nThis class is designed for photographers who want to learn how to pose couples\, and put their subjects at ease. Rebecca teaches modern techniques for posing couples: Rather than static posing\, she will emphasize how to work with movement and casual posing to create a more natural look!\nFor this workshop\, we will be photographing outside in natural light at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston. If you’d like to learn a little bit about when to use flash\, we are also happy to teach that in the workshop\, but the focus will primarily be on shooting in natural light. We will spend the bulk of the day photographing couples and discussing different settings\, starting in the mid-afternoon and working into the golden hour.
