SUMMARY:Holyoke Expo Seminar: Whispers in the Medina: Creating a Personal Project in Marrakech with Jeffrey Byrnes
DESCRIPTION:Join photographer Jeffrey Byrnes as he shares stories of his trip to Morocco and the personal work that he created in Marrakech. These stories share the importance of personal work and the role it plays in developing you as a photographer. Creating personal work\, especially through travel can impact your career. Creating personal work shows potential clients them that you’re more than just a photographer who can make pretty pictures or shoot their product shots\, it demonstrates your ability to create deep meaningful work that tells stories. This seminar is ideal for photographers of all levels!  \nAbout Jeffrey Byrnes:  \nIf you were to squeeze my bones dry\, sand would fall from them. \nAs a kid from the 90’s\, the summers on Cape Cod were my time to explore\, hunt snakes in the mountains\, and chase friends on bikes. Winters were spent building giant snow forts out of plowed icebergs and learning to carve mountains on a snowboard. These moments were all part of a New England childhood which taught me how to appreciate seasonal changes with a sense of wonder and amazement. I found freedom on my bikes and skateboards\, all the while dreaming of making a debut at the X-Games. It was this dream that altered my path… \nIn high school I started shooting the world of graffiti and skaters. The camera quickly became my new obsession-I discovered it was a way to see tell stories and create connections \nTravel\, skating\, food and even flying choppers has become parts of my life\, always integrated with my photography. \nI am an advertising and commercial photographer. I create achievement through the lens.

SUMMARY:Waltham Expo Seminar: Film Changed Everything with Levi Cyr-Redcross
DESCRIPTION:Film Changed Everything is a personal and inspiring lecture about the creative transformation that happens when you slow down and shoot with intention. Levi Cyr-Redcross shares their journey with film photography—the early missteps\, the quiet moments behind the lens\, and how analog tools helped them reconnect with their voice as an artist. \nThis talk isn’t about technical settings—it’s about process\, permission\, and the quiet magic of making art that feels honest. It’s a reflection on imperfection\, curiosity\, and the creative freedom that can only come from letting go of perfection. \nFilm didn’t just reconnect Levi with their creative self—it also connected them to a greater community. What began as a solo practice became a shared experience: trading rolls\, swapping scans\, meeting artists\, and forging relationships rooted in slowness\, intention\, and analog joy. Film photography created a space for Levi to connect more deeply—with their work\, with others\, and with the world around them. \nWhether you’re a digital artist looking for a reset\, a creative stuck in a rut\, or someone simply curious about the power of film\, this lecture is an invitation to see photography—and creative expression itself—in a new light. \n\nAbout Levi:\nLevi Cyr-Redcross is a content creator and photographer that takes pictures in the Boston area. SUMMARY:Providence Show Seminar: Iceland Land of Midnight Sun with Shawn Carey
DESCRIPTION:Iceland abounds in natural splendor: Waterfalls and glaciers\, panoramic views\, and otherworldly landscapes. It is a land of Northern Lights and midnight sun. And it is the realm of one of the world?s most charming and iconic bird: the Atlantic Puffin. \nBut Iceland is home to much more. During the summer months\, Iceland?s round-the-clock sunlight draws in a panoply of birds: Razorbills and guillemots\, phalaropes and godwits\, plovers and terns\, all accompany the puffins in nesting frenzy. Come along with wildlife photographer and Mass Audubon instructor Shawn Carey as he shares images\, and stories from his journey spent on two Icelandic islands. We will visit Grimsey Island\, the northern most inhabited island off the mainland of Iceland. For bird photographers and bird watchers looking for a great place to view and photograph nesting seabirds that call this island home during the summer this is a place you want to visit.\nFrom Grimsey we will travel to the island of Flatey\, a real hidden gem for bird photographers and bird watchers alike. Most people pass through Flatey (via ferry service out of Stykkisholmur) on their way to the well-known Latrabjarg bird cliffs to see Atlantic Puffins and Razorbills. However\, for those that have or take the time to explore Flatey you will find a small island that offers some very good photographic opportunities\, especially for Black Guillemot\, Red-necked Phalarope and Common Redshank just to name a few.\nIf you are planning a birding or bird photography trip to Iceland\, I would add Grimsey and Flatey island to your travel itinerary. Both are enjoyable places to spend a few days.\nAbout Shawn Carey (Migration Productions) produce bird/wildlife related Multi-media Presentations\, videos and photo workshops that have been presented all over the United States. Shawn moved from his home in Pennsylvania to Massachusetts in 1986 and started watching birds in 1988. Already with an interest in photography and now birds Shawn began to combine the two in 1991. By 1994 he and good friend Jim Grady started Migration Productions as a way to present their multi-image slide presentations to a live audience. Migration Productions have been presenting programs to natural history\, birding organizations and camera clubs since 1994. (Mass Audubon\, Eastern Mass Hawk Watch\, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary and countless others.) Migration Productions offers the finest quality bird/wildlife programs with stunning photographs\, video\, sound tracks\, and interviews with many people involved with bird watching and natural history topics. Shawn’s photos have been published in the Boston Globe\, New York Times\, Mass Audubon Sanctuary magazine\, Science magazine\, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary magazine and many others over the last 20+ years. In 1997 he started teaching bird photography workshops (Fundamentals of Bird Photography) for the Massachusetts Audubon and is an instructor for Summer Fields Schools on Cape Cod for Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.

SUMMARY:S. Portland Spring Expo Seminar: How to Ethically Find and Photograph Owls...with Martin Culpepper
DESCRIPTION:Owls are one of the most mysterious and sought after subjects for both birders and wildlife photographers alike. Their often nocturnal and secretive nature makes them harder to locate and photograph than almost any other group of avian subjects. This program will be focused on how you can effectively and ethically photograph these wonderful animals and produce high-quality photographs of them\, along with how to find some specific species to get you started. \nAbout Martin\nMartin Culpepper is a photographer based in Northern Massachusetts. He has been photographing for over 8 years and specializes in wildlife\, primarily birds and mammals. He has been interested in wildlife ever since he was a child and photography gave him a way to channel that into a hobby.

SUMMARY:Holyoke Spring Expo Seminar: Around the World with Wildlife Photography...with photographer Steve Upton
DESCRIPTION:Tour the wildlife world with me as I share some of my best images. We will visit polar bears in the North Pole sea ice and penguins in Antarctica\, snow monkeys in the Japanese Alps\, jaguars in the jungles of Brazil and their brethren from the Serengeti of Africa. We will soar with our feathered friends of Central America\, Asia\, as well as snowy owls from Canada. And we will not forget the rest of North America. Meanwhile\, I will be relating the story behind the shot in addition to some photographic considerations.\nAbout Steve Upton\nI am a self taught wildlife and nature photographer. Although I bought my first serious camera gear in 2007\, I didn?t really start developing my craft until retirement around 2010. To me\, the beauty of photography is that one never stops learning and evolving. This allows us to capture mesmerizing moments in nature that most will never see. Sharing these magnificent events is why I drag my gear to some of the most remote regions of the planet. Showing why something needs to be cared for is so much more powerful than simply banging a drum.\nPrinting my own work at my studio and gallery gives me great pleasure and a sense of start to finish accomplishment. Much of my work is large format printed on canvas\, and although I only have a couple of public gallery openings a year\, I am always willing to open privately for show and tell if I am not on the road.
