SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode (Pt 3)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Lowell Bridges and Waterways
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education and guest instructor Henry Marte for a walk in downtown Lowell\, Massachusetts. On this walk\, we will work on architectural photography\, Image composition\, Black and White Photography\, and other ways of creating images expressively.\nThe city of Lowell is a wonderful example of an old New England mill town. A city that was once dominant in the textile industry\, Lowell’s population boomed during much of the 19th century\, peaking in the early 20th century. Lowell\, nicknamed “Mill City”\, still retains much of its’ early 20th century look (and charm)\, with many old mills being converted to apartments\, artist spaces\, shops and more. On this walk\, we will photograph around many of the mill areas and along the beautiful Merrimack River with the many bridges and cobblestone walkways. \nThis will also be an excellent opportunity to use Neutral Density filters to obtain wonderful effects! \nPhotographers of all skill levels are welcome.
