SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode (Pt 4)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday April 2nd\, 7pm ET \n  \nIn this presentation\, Charles and Melissa Needle will discuss and demonstrate various ways you can capture stunning closeups of various subjects using nothing more than an iPhone.  They will begin by demonstrating the close-up capabilities that are built into the native camera in the iPhone then discuss various accessory lenses that allow you to focus even closer than the native camera.  The session will end with a discussion and live demo of various macro shooting apps\, such as Macro by Camera+ (LateNiteSoft S.L.) and Focos (Bending Spoons Apps ApS)\, in which you can create beautiful bokeh effects usually achievable only with professional large aperture cameras. \n*Note: Android users are welcome with the understanding that Charles and Melissa use and will demonstrate various apps and camera features using an iPhone. Many apps and techniques work on both iPhones and Androids\, and the instructors will highlight similar Android apps when possible. \n  \n  \nAbout Melissa and Charles \nCharles and Melissa Needle are award-winning\, husband-and-wife\, Colorado-based fine art photographers with 35 years of combined teaching experience. She enjoys literal image making but really loves exploring her creative side with various post-processing methods. DESCRIPTION:About the Nifty Fifty Workshops\nEvery photographer at one point or another has the internal struggle before going to photograph: What lenses should I bring with me today? The common answer is as many as I can without being too uncomfortable. And so we pack up our wide\, standard\, telephoto\, prime\, and macro lenses and head out into the field\, forcing ourselves to endure limitless choices while sacrificing simplicity.\nOur Nifty Fifty workshops flip the script and force you to only carry one lens: A 50mm lens\, nostalgically referred to as a “nifty fifty”. With limitations\, what can you– the photographer\, the creator\, the artist– achieve? \nWalk Description\nFor this workshop\, we will be photographing in one of Boston’s most notable neighborhoods\, and its oldest: The North End. This walk will emphasize telling a story through composition as we workshop street and candid photography! We will discuss managing ISO and shutter speed in low-light conditions to never miss a shot\, as well as the art of blending in and going unnoticed. (And no tripods!) We will also try to get it all right in camera! While you are welcome to shoot in RAW\, we’ll also discuss the joy of shooting for the end result in JPEG! \nOur mission is to use a small handful of our images from the day to capture the essence of the North End neighborhood. \nJoin us for a fun workshop! \n  \n*Question: Are other prime lenses acceptable? Olympus/Panasonic users may use a 25mm lens\, since it gives the same look as a 50mm and other primes can be used as an alternative\, but we ask that you try to keep it at one prime in as close to that range as possible. Remember- this is a “nifty fifty” workshop\, not a “mighty ninety” workshop. (And does that even really rhyme?)

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski on a workshop for intermediate and advanced photographers who want to challenge themselves and take their composition to the next level! \nOn this workshop\, photographers will challenge themselves at the MFA in Boston to find and create dynamic compositions in an assignment given at the workshop. Photographers will work independently\, but towards a common goal. \nThe workshop will also include an image review session on Wednesday April 30th\,  featuring images from the workshop. \nThis us an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself as a photographer and work to better your composition! \nPlease note: Your registration does NOT include entrance to the MFA.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Working with Landscape Photography
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nLandscape Photography\nLandscape photography is one of the most easily accessible genres of photography and is enjoyed by many. What does it take to create a landscape image that stands out? Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we go beyond “F8 and be there” and dive deep into the technical\, artistic\, and practical aspects of landscape photography.\nIn week one\, we’ll cover what it takes to plan and the settings necessary for your best shots. We’ll also talk about the gear all landscape photographers should have in their bags and what to do when the weather just won’t cooperate. In week two\, we’ll edit landscape images from start to finish using Adobe Lightroom Classic. By week three\, we’ll discuss composition\, dynamic range\, depth of field\, and focus. We’ll also discuss when to shoot in color and when to shoot in black and white. In our last week\, we’ll cover shooting and editing HDR images and panorama images in Adobe Lightroom Classic. We’ll also cover shooting landscapes at night as well as astrolandscapes. Each week\, Emily will give an assignment to hone your new skills and each student will receive individualized critiques. Emily is also available to answer any questions along the way.\nJoin us for this fun and unique multi-session series that will help you develop your skills with landscapes!\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Nature at World's End
DESCRIPTION:Walk around the beautiful World’s End Conservation Area in Hingham\, MA with Hunt’s Photo Education! This 251-acre peninsula has everything you need to expand your photography\, from scenic coastlines to grassy clearings\, from cliffs to wooded paths\, and many birds along the way.  \nAt World’s End\, we will photograph landscapes\, seascapes\, and more intimate wooded scenery. There will also be plenty of opportunities for bird photography if that suits you! All lenses are welcome. For landscapes\, we recommend a wide angle zoom lens\, but the vast clearings will provide great landscapes no matter the lens. For detail shots or plant life photography\, feel free to bring a macro lens. For birds\, bring those telephoto lenses\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above. World’s End is a haven of opportunities for every type of photographer!  \nPlease note: Most of the walking path is easy gravel will gradual elevation change\, but there is plenty of ground to cover\, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes!
