SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Wild Horses in Utah
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nExperience the untamed beauty of the American West while photographing the Onaqui Wild Horse Herd in Utah. This small-group workshop offers rare access to wild horses roaming freely across expansive desert landscapes\, framed by distant mountains and ever-changing light. \nPhotograph stallions\, mares\, and foals\, each with unique colors and personalities\, while receiving hands-on guidance in composition\, exposure\, autofocus\, and long-lens techniques. Emphasis is placed on storytelling\, anticipating behavior\, and capturing decisive moments. \nMany participants return year after year\, drawn by the dynamic photographic opportunities and the chance to experience these wild horses in their natural home. \nOn this workshop\, you will want to bring a variety of lenses\, from wide-angle to super-telephoto. The distance to your subjects can vary\, as the horses can be right next to you or far in the distance\, but it is certainly recommended to consider bringing a super-telephoto in the range of 500-600mm. Please keep in mind that you can always rent lenses from Hunt’s Rentals and at a decent cost! \nWe will maximize our time in the field shooting a multitude of subjects as well as incorporating classroom instruction\, critiques\, and photographic assignments each day. \n  \nWhat’s included:\n• In-field photography and instruction\n• Ground transportation in the field\n• BLM photo workshop permits\n• Professional in-field instruction\n• Image review and guidance \nWhat’s not included:\n• Air fare to and from Salt Lake City\, Utah\n• Cost of hotel (We will be staying at the Best Western in Tooele\, 435-882-5010)\n• Cost of food\n• Any activities outside the tour itinerary\n• Travel insurance (which is highly recommended for all travelers) \nSkill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity: Low \nIn this workshop we will cover: \nExposure\nComposition\nMetering\nUse of Lenses\nSubject Development\nCreative Thinking\nShooting in Low Light\nLong Exposures\nUse of Filters (polarizers and ND)\nImage Processing\nImage Review\nImage Critiquing \nLodging is not included in the cost of this Adventure. We will be staying at the Best Western in Tooele UT (435-882-5010). \nRecommended gear:\nCamera\, memory cards\, batteries\nWide angle\, standard\, telephoto and super-telephoto lenses (If you are looking for a lens to rent\, you can rent it from us at rentals.huntsphoto.com!)\nTripod\nCable release\nPolarizers and Neutral Density filters if you have them \nTravel information \nWe recommend flying into Salt Lake City airport (SLC). We will be making a bulk pickup at the airport at 12:00 noon. If you choose to arrive early or stay later\, you can:  \n·      Stay overnight in a hotel by the airport \n·      Rent a vehicle and drive to our destination \n·      Take a Taxi / Uber / Lyft to our destination \nHotel information\nWe will be staying at the Best Western in Tooele\, 435-882-5010. Please note: Your rooms are NOT included in the cost of your ticket\, but we have rooms set aside. After booking with us\, make sure to call to put your name on one of those rooms. We are listed as the “Hunt’s Photo Group”. \nAbout Weather\nWeather can range from a low of 20° F at night to a high of 70° F during the day. There will be a definite chance of snow or rain during our workshop. \nImportant things to keep in mind:\n•Bring clothing suited for a variety of temperatures\, from cold mornings to warm afternoons. Also be prepared for potential rain and for changing weather. \nPayments\nA deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 45-days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
