SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Olympic National Park: Rain Forests\, Seascapes & Coastal Light
DESCRIPTION:  \nDiscover the breathtaking landscapes of Olympic National Park\, where moss-draped rainforests\, cascading waterfalls\, and rugged Pacific beaches create endless photographic opportunities. This small-group photography adventure combines forest trails\, tide pools and iconic sea stacks\, giving you a rare chance to capture the park’s diverse natural beauty. \nThroughout the workshop\, you’ll receive hands-on guidance on composition\, light\, and capturing both the subtle textures of ancient forests and the dynamic motion of coastal waves. Sunrise and sunset sessions are strategically scheduled to coincide with low tides and optimal light for forests\, waterfalls and beaches. \nThis workshop is perfect for photographers of all levels who want to immerse themselves in the park’s forests and coastline while building a diverse portfolio of images ranging from intimate moss and fern details to expansive ocean vistas. \nWhat’s included: \n\nTransportation while on the workshop\nProfessional in-field instruction\nImage review as requested\n\n  \nWhat’s not included: \n\nAirfare\nLodging\nCost of meals\nIncidentals and personal items\nTravel insurance/emergency medevac coverage\n\n  \nSkill sets: All levels of photographers are welcome \nPhysical activity level: Moderate \nThis workshop involves some hiking of up to 2 miles round trip\, including uphill and downhill sections\, at your own pace (we could find other options). Participants will spend extended periods outdoors photographing in varying conditions\, often cool\, breezy or wet. Terrain can be uneven\, including rocky or sandy surfaces\, and may involve standing in shallow moving water. Please refer to the “Weather and Gear” section for guidance on dressing appropriately for cooler temperatures\, early mornings and coastal breezes. \n  \nIn this workshop we will cover: \n\nTracking focus as it applies\nExposure\nComposition\nMetering\nUse of lenses\nSubject development\nCreative thinking\nShooting in low light\nMotion and slow shutter speed for water movement\n\n  \nAverage weather: Olympic Peninsula (Sept. 27-Oct. 3)\, you can generally expect classic Pacific Northwest fall weather. \n\nDaytime highs: 59-64°F (15-18°C)\nNighttime lows: 43-48°F (6-9°C)\nRain: Moderate chance of rain each day. Light showers and mist are common\, but it’s also possible to enjoy several dry days with sunshine.\nHumidity: High (80-100%)\nWind: Usually light inland\, with stronger breezes along the coast (10-20 mph at times).\nDaylight: Approximately 11.5 hours of daylight\, with sunrise around 7:10-7:20 a.m. and sunset around 6:50-7:05 p.m.\n\n  \nRECOMMENDED GEAR AND CLOTHING \n  \nCamera and accessories: \n\nDigital SLR or mirrorless camera\nMultiple fully charged batteries\, extra memory cards\nStandard-to-wide lens\nTelephoto lens\nWireless remote or cable release\nCircular polarizer filter\nNeutral density (ND) filters\nCamera and lens rain cover\nSturdy Tripod\n\n  \nClothing and footwear: \n\nWarm layers for early mornings and evenings\nWaterproof\, insulated jacket or vest\nHiking or insulated boots with good tread\nWater socks or overboots for standing in water\nRain jacket and/or pants for wet conditions\nWarm hat\, gloves\, neck gaiter and warm socks\nHiking sticks\, if you use them\n\n  \nAdditional gear: \n\nHeadlamp or flashlight for pre-dawn or low-light shoots\nSoft-sided rolling duffle for packing gear and personal items\n\n  \nIMPORTANT NOTE: The itinerary is subject to change based on local knowledge\, weather conditions and opportunities that may arise during the workshop. Flexibility enables us to capitalize on the best possible lighting\, access and photographic opportunities each day. \n\n  \nPayments\nA deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 60-days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
