DESCRIPTION:It can be challenging to take a portrait\, but it can feel daunting to utilize lighting. Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson as he strips away the complexities of using lighting as we discuss and work with ONE LIGHT to create beautiful quality portraits!\nIn this workshop\, we will discuss working with speedlights (that’s the fancy term for a flash)\, but also constant LED lighting. We will work in our Hunt’s Photo Providence class space\, but if weather allows we will gravitate outdoors and also discuss how to blend your light with any natural light that you have to make it look…natural!\nUsing lighting doesn’t have to be difficult\, so join us to find out how to do it right!

SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Creating Images on Mt Washington in Winter with Joe Klementovich
DESCRIPTION:Photography in the winter can be a challenging\, and photographing on Mt Washington\, one of the most erratic weather locations in New England is no exception. Photographer Joe Klementovich has spent over 25 years working in the White Mountains\, as a search and rescue leader\, avalanche forecaster\, photographer\, drone operator and guide. Over those years Joe has experienced the punishing winds and the lowest of frigid lows and knows a little bit about how to photograph in this type of inclement weather!\nIn this session\, I?ll go over everything. Starting with personal gear because you can?t be creative if you?re cold and uncomfortable. Then we get into the camera equipment\, batteries\, lens\, covers\, and pack it all uphill. We?ll go over weather apps quickly and other resources that can help with local forecasts in the White Mountains\, one of those being avalanche conditions. All that taken care of we can get into the creative side of being on Mount Washington in Winter. We?ll talk about action sports\, skiing\, and ice climbing as well as the challenges of getting to the right place at the right time. We?ll go over shooting landscape images in snow and bright light conditions\, how to get those details in the snow\, and how to make the most of your day or night in the mountains.\nAgenda\n? Warming up gear\, cleaning\, all the stuff that can ruin a camera.\nAbout Joe Klementovich: Joe Klementovich has spent over 25 years working in the White Mountains\, as a search and rescue leader\, avalanche forecaster\, photographer\, drone operator and guide. Over those years Joe has experienced the punishing winds and the lowest of frigid lows and knows a little bit about how to photograph in this type of inclement weather! Joe has created images for WSJ\, New York Times\, Dallas Morning News as well as commercial clients such as Patagonia\, Stio\, Sterling Rope and many others. His style of teaching is a combination of entertaining stories and facts about how best to manage creating images in challenging winter conditions.  \n\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print?one?of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic!\nThis Month?s Printed Vision Session: Making a Fine Art Print\nTo print fine art or not to print fine art: That is the question. What does it mean to make a fine art print? What photographic papers define fine art? What editing choices should we make to get through the emotions of the print? How do we calculate our editing with our paper choices?\nIn this class\, we will discuss the answers to these questions in our instructional online presentation\, held on the first date\, then workshop your images in order to make a fine art print. We will reconvene the following week for our Printed Image Review. You will have that time period in between to edit and submit your images. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Water Drops (and more!)
DESCRIPTION:Water Drop Photography is a style wherein one drops a liquid into another liquid and photographs it in a way that emphasizes the “unseeable”–little droplets\, the corona of the drop\, and more. This style uses high speed flash in order to stop the action instead of fast shutter speed. It is a simple technique that can be achieved with even the most rudimentary gear\, but it can produce infinitely different results. Just like snowflakes\, you’ll never be able to duplicate a water drop.\nIn this workshop\, we will begin with a live demo describing the gear\, settings\, set-up\, and execution of water drop photography. We’ll then dive right in\, beginning simply and then moving on to not just water droplets\, but also other items! Photographers of all skill levels are welcome\, but one should come with patience!\nTwo important notes: We will be using flash in this workshop. You do not need to own a flash\, and we may use only what we have anyway\, but you are welcome to bring one if you have one in order to understand how to replicate it on your own. Also\, to minimize on gear and space\, we will be working in groups of two.

And if you want to learn how to edit your images to make a good print of something festive (and also get the print)\, look no further than our Printed Vision series class with the theme of Holiday Images!\nHere’s how it works: After signing up for the class\, you?ll receive an email reading “Confirmation for Printed Vision Series: Holiday Images”. In that email will be a few basic instructions\, including how to consider editing your images\, what paper types to use\, and how & where to upload the images. (We ask that images are uploaded a few days prior to class date so that we have enough time to review and print them.) We will then go through the images for review in a video recording\, discussing exposure\, cropping/composition\, print sizing\, color\, and paper options that may fit with the image. We’ll send you that review\, and upon your approval\, make the prints. We will then regroup for a full print review on the date listed above.
