SUMMARY:The Hunt's Photo Education Weekend Workshops 2024
DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education Presents…The Weekend Workshop: A long weekend conference featuring the Hunt’s Photo Education Team! The weekend will feature education seminars\, photo walks and workshops\, image reviews\, editing and file management\, and fine art printing. Our walks and workshops will feature a variety of (mostly) new options\, including macro photography and focus stacking\, portraits and lighting\, light painting and long exposure\, and black & white photography. \nDuring the weekend\, each attendee will have the opportunity to attend five Photo Walks/Workshops. We will have an introductory Photo Walk on the first evening that everyone will be able to attend. On days 2 and 3\, our instructors will conduct one Photo Walk in the morning and one Photo Walk in the evening. They will repeat the same schedule on Friday and Saturday. (So\, if you attend a Photo Walk with Instructor A on Friday morning\, you’ll have the ability to attend a different Photo Walk with Instructor B on Saturday morning.)\nDuring the middle part of Friday and Saturday\, we will have image reviews\, file management sessions\, and printing sessions. You are welcome to attend these\, or you can take a break\, if needed! We will also have lead-in online presentations during the week\, which you can attend for no additional charge. \nThis year will be centered out of our BRAND NEW Hunt’s Photo Waltham store location. Our Waltham store has two large classroom areas which will be excellent for our editing and review sessions\, as well as some of our hands-on workshops for the weekend! For planning purposes\, be aware that many of our walks and workshops will be taking place within the vicinity of Waltham/Newton and the surrounding areas. \nJoin us for a fantastic weekend of photo fun! \n  \nPlease Note: We are currently finalizing our Photo Walk/Workshop Schedule. Prior to June 1st\, we will send out a sign-up notification to those registered to put their first\, second\, third\, and fourth option preferences for registration. At that time\, we will put everyone into their respective walk/workshop times. (We will do our best to accommodate everyone!)  \nPlease Also Note… As we are finalizing this workshop\, some of the details are subject to change. SUMMARY:Print Review Monthly
DESCRIPTION:About The Printed Review Monthly \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. The concept of these classes is similar to our Printed Vision Series Classes: Attendees will independently process 1-2 images and upload them to the instructor for review. The instructor will send back a video image review which will discuss how to improve the image to make it “print ready”\, including exposure\, focus\, composition\, and especially paper selection. The instructor will then print one of the images to be displayed in the Print Review\, which will take place both in-person and online\, in case you cannot attend live. In the end of each session\, you will end up with a print up to 13×19” on Fine Art paper to take home with you. (We print on Moab\, Hahnemuhle\, and Canson fine art papers.) \nFor this class\, you can either choose a single session OR sign up for three months at a discounted rate.  You do not need to attend 3 consecutive sessions and may attend whenever it’s convenient. Choosing this option is excellent to keep the printing conversation going! However\, please note that the sessions expire after one year. (If you end up not being able to attend all the sessions\, you can also exchange a session for an additional print!) \nThese sessions are excellent for anyone: \n• Someone that wants a little help with editing before they get a print \n• Someone that does print but has print-related questions \n• A person that prints often and wants to try a different paper \n• Someone with no knowledge of printing that just wants to get a print! \n  \nCome check out why printing is the best thing to do for your photography! \n  \nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to upload images for the image review\, and the link to get into the online class. (You won’t need this if you’re attending live.) If you sign up for the bundle of three sessions\, we will send out updates monthly with new upload and class links. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Urban Portraits with Natural Light (or Flash!)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be utilizing the natural\, urban environment to work into our portraits. Brick buildings and cityscapes will all work into our compositions as we create a more working class feel in our portraits–a very unique look. To a certain extent\, these will be environmental portraits where the environment plays a role in creating the scene. Utilizing your environment in photographs is key to creating a fun portrait shoot! We will emphasize creating these portraits using available light through subject placement and composition with the aid of diffusers and reflectors. We will then separately demonstrate reasons to add in flash.\nWe will begin photographing late afternoon in the sunlight (and shade) and work to sunset in the picturesque brick of downtown Lowell. We will be using both Westcott (FJ80\, FJ200\, FJ400) and Godox (AD200) strobes/flashes as well as Westcott diffusers\, both of which are excellent brands for creating stunning portraits.\nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process\, from naturally lighting a subject\, to how to properly expose while using strobes\, to how to actually use the strobes themselves!\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.
