SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Education's Summer Youth Photography Sessions (Age 12-16)
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is taken by the Wakefield Rec Department at this Link!\nTuesdays July 8th\, 15th\, 22nd\, 29th\, August 5th\, 4:30-6pm • Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose \nPlease note: These sessions are for kids aged 12-16. You can find our sessions for kids age 8-11 here.  \nDo you have a budding photographer that you want to encourage? Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a multi-session photography program aimed at strengthening their interest\, improving their photography\, and getting them truly excited about being the artist\, the creator\, and the family photographer! \nOver the course of these sessions\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. In every session we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers taking pictures as much as possible! At the end of each session\, we’ll give an assignment for the following week\, and at the start of the next session\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! Please note: This course is geared towards students aged 12-16 years old. Our age requirement is general and a certain maturity level is helpful.  Younger students with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. We generally recommend a DSLR or mirrorless camera\, but if you’re unsure\, feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com \nThis will be a fun program with experienced instruction. And don’t worry if you can’t make one of the weeks–you’ll still learn a lot and have a great time!

Harman’s Phoenix II film is a brand new film stock that offers plenty of analog character\, but improves upon contrast\, grain\, and sharpness. \nFor this event\, we will begin with a meet and greet and introduction to the film at the store\, including a brief presentation from Harman. All attendees will receive a free roll of Phoenix II film as well as a coupon for free development and scanning of the roll. (Hey! The cost of this event is less than the cost of those three things combined!)  \nAttendees are welcome to continue with us to a nearby location where we can test out the roll on a photo scavenger hunt. Representatives from Hunt’s Photo Education and Harman will be present to answer and of your photo (and film) needs! And finally\, bring the roll back for development within a set period of time to be entered into a prize giveaway! \nWhether you’re a seasoned shooter or new to film\, come hang\, shoot\, and celebrate with us for a fun time\, and be among the first to shoot Phoenix II!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Sports Portraits and Portraits in Action
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and portrait and sports photographer Henry Marte for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be creating dynamic lighting scenarios involving athletes\, both posed and in motion! Attendees will learn about how to create amazing portraits using a mixture of natural light and flash\, understand subject placement\, when and why to use strobes (and where to place them)\, and will end up with some excellent portfolio-building images! \nIn this workshop\, we will begin by developing dynamic lighting setups with natural light and flash. Attendees will begin to develop an understanding of how lighting outdoors can positively affect sports portraits. During the second half of the workshop\, we will take it a step further by adding in movement and action\, a unique and fun look in our end result!   We will use Westcott strobes and have a series of athlete-models available for the shoot. \nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process of lighting a subject\, how to properly expose while using strobes\, and how to actually use the strobes themselves!\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.
