SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Education's Winter Youth Photography Program
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is taken by the Wakefield Rec Department at this Link!\nWednesdays January 7th\, 14th\, 21st\, 28th\, February 4th & 11th\, 4:30-6pm • Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose \nDo you have a budding photographer that you want to encourage? Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a 6-session photography program aimed at strengthening their interest\, improving their photography\, and getting them truly excited about being the artist\, the creator\, and the family photographer! \nOver the course of six sessions\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. In every session we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers taking pictures as much as possible! At the end of each session\, we’ll give an assignment for the following week\, and at the start of the next session\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! Please note: This course is geared towards students aged 12-16 years old. Our age requirement is general and a certain maturity level is helpful.  Younger students with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. We generally recommend a DSLR or mirrorless camera\, but if you’re unsure\, feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com \nThis will be a fun program with experienced instruction. It is encouraged to take his class multiple times to build up different skill levels as time goes on.

SUMMARY:Print Review Monthly: Comparing Papers
DESCRIPTION:Introduction on Comparing Papers- Wednesday February 4th\, 6:30pm ET • Online! \nPrint Review- Wednesday February 11th\, 6:30pm ET • Hunt’s Melrose or Online! \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Comparing Papers! \nWhat does it look like on Matte Paper? What does it look like on Glossy Paper? Why would I print it on one versus the other? What does the paper bring to my image?\nThis Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic– some of the key differences between paper surfaces– and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. Educator Paul Nelson will produce a recorded image review\, discussing paper options\, editing suggestions\, and more\, to be sent back to you leading up to the second session. Paul will then print images for the class. In the end\, you will receive TWO prints of your edited image up to 8.5×11″ in size. It is generally recommended to print the same image on two papers. (Please note: We are happy to make a larger or additional print outside of the class for an additional fee!) \nJoin us for an informative Printed Vision class! \nA Note About The Printed Vision Series \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. These sessions are excellent for anyone: \n• Someone that wants a little help with editing before they get a print \n• Someone that does print but has print-related questions \n• A person that prints often and wants to try a different paper \n• Someone with no knowledge of printing that just wants to get a print! \n  \nCome check out why printing is the best thing to do for your photography! \n  \nIn-Person or Online \nThis class will be taking place in-person in our Melrose store location and online\, in case you cannot attend live. If you cannot attend live\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Media Day and Action Sports Portraits
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be creating dynamic lighting scenarios involving athletes\, recreating Media Day! Media Day portraits have become increasingly popular in the sporting world\, from the start of the sporting season to major sporting events and more. Media Day photos are used for promotional imagery to showcase the aura of the athlete. Media Day is essential in almost every high school and college. \nIn this workshop\, we will be posing athletes and creating lighting scenarios that all photographers can use as part of their arsenal when creating Media Day portraits. This is an excellent portfolio-building workshop!  We will emphasize the use LED lighting\, including Nanlite and Aputure lighting\, as well as other elements that help build the atmosphere of your images! \nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process of lighting a subject\, how to properly expose while using strobes\, and how to actually use the strobes themselves! \nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.
