SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Creating Books and More: Preparing Images\, Creating Designs\, and Emphasizing Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This is a 2-part class that will meet on the dates listed above\nThat title is exhausting! And so it can also feel making a book\, a zine\, a calendar\, or even a print! There’s so much to the printing process that is foreign and never covered in standard courses\, and so in this course\, we will begin to cover some of the basics.\nIn this two session course\, we’ll discuss the following topics:\n-Organization- How to use your software (ANY software) to work for you to prepare your vision\n-Culling your images- Reducing the quantity of images you use to strengthen your end result\n-Pre-visualization- Begin to develop your storytelling journey by letting the images guide you!\n-Exporting & Importing- How do we bring the images out of the program we’re using and at what settings\n-Online options and standalone programs for building books\, calendars\, and more.\n-Layouts- What are some of the basic design elements that we can employee? What can be automated and what do we have to do from scratch?\n-Storytelling- This is the glue that holds the book together! (Figuratively\, not literally.) How do we keep interest for 20 pages? 50 pages? 100 pages? \nMuch of the conversation in this course will be demonstrated using Adobe Lightroom Classic\, but other programs (Capture One\, Apple Photos) can also be discussed and are just as applicable. \nA note about printing: Please be aware\, we will NOT be printing books in this class\, only showing the process. The printing will be up to you!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Media Day and Action Sports Portraits
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be creating dynamic lighting scenarios involving athletes\, recreating Media Day! Media Day portraits have become increasingly popular in the sporting world\, from the start of the sporting season to major sporting events and more. Media Day photos are used for promotional imagery to showcase the aura of the athlete. Media Day is essential in almost every high school and college. \nIn this workshop\, we will be posing athletes and creating lighting scenarios that all photographers can use as part of their arsenal when creating Media Day portraits. This is an excellent portfolio-building workshop!  We will work both indoors and outside. For indoors\, we will emphasize the use LED lighting\, including Nanlite and Aputure lighting\, as well as other elements that help build the atmosphere of your images! For outdoors\, we will use a combination of natural light and strobes to create the ultimate outdoor look! \nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process of lighting a subject\, how to properly expose while using strobes\, and how to actually use the strobes themselves! \nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Urban Portraits Along the Riverwalk in Lowell with Natural Light (and Flash!)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be utilizing the natural\, urban environment to work into our portraits. Brick buildings and cityscapes will all work into our compositions as we create a more working class feel in our portraits–a very unique look. To a certain extent\, these will be environmental portraits where the environment plays a role in creating the scene. Utilizing your environment in photographs is key to creating a fun portrait shoot! We will emphasize creating these portraits using available light through subject placement and composition with the aid of diffusers and reflectors. We will then separately demonstrate reasons to add in flash.\nWe will begin photographing late afternoon in the sunlight (and shade) and work to sunset along the Merrimack River along the Riverwalk in Lowell. We will be using strobes/flashes as well as diffusers to create stunning portraits.\nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte.
