SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: White Pocket\, Horseshoe Bend\, Slot Canyons
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nWhite Pocket is a part of an extensive series of formations on the Pariah Plateau in America?s Southwest. Substantial erosion over eons of time has revealed incredible swirling layers of sandstone. This workshop is an experience of one of the most unusual and photogenic geologic formations in the Southwest. Vermilion Cliffs National Monument has many great subjects\, and we will explore many of them. We?ll spend our nights in Kanab\, UT.\nWe will photograph in the following locations:\n   White Pocket\n   Navajo Slot Canyons\n   Horseshoe Bend\nWhat?s included in the workshop: (Sunrise @ 6:00 am\, Sunset @ 6:45 pm)\n? Five days of in-field photography and instruction\n? Ground transportation in the field including airport P/U and drop-off\n? Photo workshop permits\n? Experienced workshop leaders\n? Image Discussion and Review Sessions\nWhat?s not included in the workshop:\n? Air fare or baggage fees\n? Lodging- We will be staying at the Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Kanab\, UT (296 West 100 North\, Kanab\, Utah\, 435-216-5144)\n? Food\n? Any activities outside the tour itinerary\n? Travel insurance (which is highly recommended for all travelers)\nSkill Sets:?All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity:?Low\nIn this workshop we will cover:\nExposure\nComposition\nMetering\nUse of Lenses\nSubject Development\nCreative Thinking\nShooting in Low Light\nLong Exposures\nUse of Filters (polarizers and ND)\nImage Processing\nImage Review\nImage Critiquing\nRecommended gear:\nCamera\, memory cards\, batteries\nWide angle\, standard\, and telephoto lenses (If you are looking for a lens to rent\, you can rent it from us at?rentals.huntsphoto.com!)\nTripod\nCable release\nPolarizers and Neutral Density filters if you have them\nTravel information\nArrive in Salt Lake City before 12:00 Noon on Sept. 5\, 2023. We will be making a bulk pickup at the airport at noon.  It is a 5-hour drive from SLC to Kanab\, UT. If you choose to arrive early or stay later\, you will need to rent a vehicle.\nFlights out should be made after 3:00 PM on Monday Sept. 11\, 2023.\nHotel information\nWe will be staying at the Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Kanab\, UT (296 West 100 North\, Kanab\, Utah\, 435-216-5144). Please note: Your rooms are NOT included in the cost of your ticket\, but we have rooms set aside. After booking with us\, make sure to call to put your name on one of those rooms. We are listed as the ?Hunt’s Photo Group?.\nAbout Weather\nWeather can range from a low of 50? F at night to a high of 85? F during the day. There will be a definite chance of rain during our workshop.\nImportant things to keep in mind:\n?Bring clothing suited for a variety of temperatures\, from cool mornings to warm afternoons. Also be prepared for potential rain and for changing weather.\n?We will be photographing from 4000 to 7000? elevation. Normally\, the only problem you can expect is a slight shortness of breath. However\, the higher elevation is something to keep in mind if you live at sea level or you are prone to encountering physical difficulties at higher elevations.\n?We will be using 4-WD SUVs for this workshop. A passenger car will not work because we will be driving on many dirt roads where we will need high clearance and traction that an SUV provides.\nPayments\nA deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 60-days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.

Photographing Phases of the Eclipse\n??All Safety Considerations (DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN!)\n??What Gear Do You Need\n??Planning & Scouting – Where to go and when to start thinking about it!\n??Camera Settings & Techniques\n??And More!\nIf you’ve ever wondered about photographing Solar Eclipses\, this is a great opportunity to get the information! The next two eclipses will be taking place on October 14th\, 2023 (Annular) with the path banding across parts of the Southwest and April 8th\, 2024 (Total)\, with the paths banding from Texas to the northeast.\nAbout Bob Fletcher\nRobert Fletcher began his full-time photography career in 1970. Following in the footsteps of Ansel Adams\, he mostly photographed people (children\, portraits\, weddings\, seniors\, etc.)\, which paid the bills. Over time\, he became interested in photographing wildlife and landscapes\, mostly for personal pleasure. In 1999\, he was asked to become a ?Stringer? for Canon USA and has been in that position since then. It has led Robert towards teaching\, leading workshops and sharing his life-long passion with others. He always looks forward to sharing his knowledge of photography with those who are anxious to learn.\nAbout Jeff Swinger\nJeff Swinger boasts nearly 30 years of professional experience built upon his passion for telling stories through images. He honed his skills over 16 years with The Cincinnati Enquirer covering news and sports and has covered four Olympic Games for USA Today Sports. Additionally\, Jeff works as an educational contributor and freelance Pro Market Representative for Canon USA and travels domestically and internationally conducting photo tours and workshops. \n\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–90 minutes to 2 hours– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A.
