SUMMARY:The Anatomy of a Shoot: Posing\, Directing\, Lighting\, and more with Jeremy Saffer
DESCRIPTION:Before a photographer takes the shot they have to choose lighting and direct their subject. In Anatomy of a Shoot\, Jeremy will take a deep dive into posing and lighting choices per artist/per look\, while coming up with a custom lighting set for each artist on the fly\, and explaining what poses work and what poses dont work per artist and lighting set and why. Students will then take over the set and have extended time to build their own set with the lighting of their choice from the weekend and then photograph the subject with extended time to direct\, pose\, and shoot while Jeremy stands by to give advice and feedback during the shoot (optional). Each student will take turns as the photographer\, while other students assist\, getting hands on experience with different lighting\, stands\, and changing settings for each set. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Seeing the Shot- Composition Challenge at Plimoth Patuxet
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski on a workshop for intermediate and advanced photographers who want to challenge themselves and take their composition to the next level! \nFounded more than 65 years ago\, Plimoth Patuxet is a living history museum that depicts the life and culture of America?s first settlers in the 17th century. The settlement is complete with houses\, gardens\, animals\, and pilgrims that live and speak just as if it was 1627. The grounds\, homes\, and settlers make for wonderful studies in light\, architecture\, detail\, and portraiture. \nOn this workshop\, photographers will challenge themselves at Plimoth Patuxet in Plymouth to find and create dynamic compositions in an assignment given at the workshop. Photographers will work independently\, but towards a common goal. \nThe workshop will also include an image review session on Wednesday December 4th\,  featuring images from the workshop. \nThis us an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself as a photographer and work to better your composition! \nPlease note: The cost of your ticket does not include entrance to Plimoth Patuxet. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

What do you need to do to prepare for the shoot in pre-production? How do you make a proper call sheet and shot list? Now is your chance\, for the first time ever\, Jeremy will be doing a full live photo shoot with a band while step by step breaking down and calling out every decision\, every pose\, every light placement\, every change in lighting\, every change in pose (and why that direction was given)\, and every shot taken to achieve the goal of a successful photo shoot. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic Pt 3
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. Given its location between Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park\, Moab is a prime destination for all levels of photographers. SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Lighting on Location featuring Dia De Los Muertos (and more)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be showing how to light on location using natural light and supplemental light\, whether it’s flash or LED! We will utilize the natural environment of our location to work into our portraits\, and then\, when necessary\, use lights to make it something spectacular. This workshop is a great opportunity for both beginner and intermediate photographers\, as we’ll build examples of where to place subjects\, when to use lighting\, and what lighting we think works best for that environment. (Lighting will be provided!) \nOur workshop will take place at the Western Ave Studios in Lowell\, which has many unique indoor and outdoor elements that will work well for our portraits. We will also be featuring a theme– Dia De Los Muertos–where some of our models will be made up and dressed in the style shown here. (We may also have non-made up models to provide variety for the afternoon.)\nFor gear\, we will be using both Westcott (FJ80\, FJ200\, FJ400) strobes/flashes as well as Westcott diffusers as well as a mix of Nanlite and Aputure LED lights\, all of which are excellent brands for creating stunning portraits.\nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process\, from naturally lighting a subject\, to how to properly expose while using lighting\, to how to actually use the lights themselves!\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture and begin to discuss a variety of masking techniques. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. Bottom Line: Great class for confused beginners.?\n?Everything about this class was excellent. All in all\, a wonderful experience.?\n?Very much liked the instructors- knowledgeable\, entertaining\, encouraging\, not judgmental. Loved the casual nature of the class and opportunity for one-on-one discussions. Excellent for me\, as a novice.?

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Wild Horses in Utah
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our annual adventure to photograph the Wild Horses of Utah! Join us as we search out and photograph one of the largest herds of wild horses in Utah!\nThis is a unique photography workshop right out of “The Old West”! Wild Horses have occupied this mountainous region of Utah since the late 1800’s. The herd is approximately 200 – 250 horses and is the largest herd of wild horses in the west. Mares and stallions average around 800 to 1000 pounds. The colors within the herd are brown\, bay\, paint\, sorrel\, roan\, buckskin\, black\, palomino\, and gray. The variety is endless due to the frequent breeding within the herd. There are many foal\, yearlings and colts that roam with the herd. The horses are in good condition and are frequently seen in the vicinity of the Pony Express Trail in the valley floor. On this workshop\, we will photograph the wild horses as well as other local scenes and wildlife.\nOn this workshop\, you will want to bring a variety of lenses\, from wide-angle to super-telephoto. The distance to your subjects can vary\, as the horses can be right next to you or far in the distance\, but it is certainly recommended to consider bringing a super-telephoto in the range of 500-600mm. Please note: Your rooms are NOT included in the cost of your ticket\, but we have rooms set aside. After booking with us\, make sure to call to put your name on one of those rooms. We are listed as the “Hunt’s Photo Group”. \nAbout Weather\nWeather can range from a low of 20° F at night to a high of 70° F during the day. There will be a definite chance of snow or rain during our workshop. \nImportant things to keep in mind:\n•Bring clothing suited for a variety of temperatures\, from cold mornings to warm afternoons. Also be prepared for potential rain and for changing weather. \nPayments\nA deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Mt Auburn Cemetery in the Fall
DESCRIPTION:Mt. Auburn Cemetery is one of Massachusetts’s most beautiful green spaces. This large\, rolling parcel of land was America?s first garden-style cemetery. The historical 174-acre cemetery serves as a final resting place for the deceased\, but it is also an arboretum full of flowers\, flowering trees\, colorful shrubs\, architecture\, and wildlife.\nOn this Photo Walk\, we will specifically photograph the cemetery in the fall! This will be a fantastic opportunity to work on macro while photographing the change of the seasons\, all within the confines of the beautiful rolling landscapes of Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
