SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Their Lens/Your Lens- The American Landscape
DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education presents an opportunity to not only expand your creativity\, but to learn about photographers\, past and present\, in our new series “Their Lens/Your Lens”.  In these online classes\, you will have an opportunity to learn about a photographer—their background\, their time\, and their work—then create your own work based on the photographer’s style.\n\nThe layout of these sessions: We will advertise a specific topic that attendees will work on for a three month span. Attendees will NOT know the photographers prior to registering—just the general topic—which gives the attendees no preconceptions and a clean slate! We will meet in an online session for an introduction on the photographer. Then\, you will have roughly three weeks to complete work in the style of that photographer. We will then reconvene for an image review and introduction to the next photographer.\n\nSome of the best work can be created when you are given specific parameters\, working in the style of another photographer is an excellent way to not only develop your photography skills\, but also your personal style!\n\nThis Session’s Topic- The American Landscape\nThis session’s three photographers will be centered around photographing the American Landscape\, both literal\, personal and figurative.\nIn our first session\, we will have an introduction to the first photographer. Attendees will have until prior to the second session to submit their images.\nAt the second session\, we will review attendee’s work\, then present the second photographer.  Once again\, attendees will have until prior to the third session to submit images.\nAt the third session\, we will review attendee’s work and present the third photographer. Finally\, attendees will have until prior to the fourth session to submit images.\nAt the fourth session\, we will review attendee’s work and wrap up the series!\n\nAll meeting times 7pm ET unless otherwise noted.\nSession 1- April 7\nSession 2- May 6\nSession 3- June 3\nSession 4- July 1\n\n\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- The Mind-Blowing World of iPhone Closeups with Charles & Melissa Needle
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday April 2nd\, 7pm ET \n  \nIn this presentation\, Charles and Melissa Needle will discuss and demonstrate various ways you can capture stunning closeups of various subjects using nothing more than an iPhone.  They will begin by demonstrating the close-up capabilities that are built into the native camera in the iPhone then discuss various accessory lenses that allow you to focus even closer than the native camera.  The session will end with a discussion and live demo of various macro shooting apps\, such as Macro by Camera+ (LateNiteSoft S.L.) and Focos (Bending Spoons Apps ApS)\, in which you can create beautiful bokeh effects usually achievable only with professional large aperture cameras. \n*Note: Android users are welcome with the understanding that Charles and Melissa use and will demonstrate various apps and camera features using an iPhone. Many apps and techniques work on both iPhones and Androids\, and the instructors will highlight similar Android apps when possible. \n  \n \nAbout Melissa and Charles \nCharles and Melissa Needle are award-winning\, husband-and-wife\, Colorado-based fine art photographers with 35 years of combined teaching experience. They are sought-after speakers\, having presented many in-person and online workshops and conference programs for national and international audiences\, including the Royal Photographic Society (UK) and hundreds of camera clubs. \nCharles has led photography workshops and tours in the US\, Canada and Europe for the past 25 years\, including locations such as Monet’s Garden (Giverny\, France)\, Keukenhof Gardens (Netherlands)\, The Butchart Gardens (Canada)\, and private & public gardens in the UK… many with exclusive\, private access. In addition\, he has authored three cutting-edge instructional books: Tiny Worlds: Creative Macro Photography Skills\, Impressionistic Photography: A Field Guide to Using Your Camera as a Paintbrush\, and Creative Macro Photography: Professional Tips & Techniques. \nCharles is a North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) Showcase Award winner for 17 years in a row and placed in the Top Ten and Top 26 image categories for two of those years. In 2024\, he made the shortlist for the Close-up Photographer of the Year international contest. And in 2018 and 2021\, Charles earned honorable mentions in the Macro and Visual FX categories of the prestigious Annual International Mobile Photography Awards Contest. He was also a semi-finalist in the 2014 Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards photo contest. In 2011\, Charles was selected as a finalist\, among 15\,000 entries worldwide\, in the International Garden Photographer of the Year photography contest\, sponsored by The Royal Botanic Gardens\, Kew (London\, England). This exhibition traveled throughout the United Kingdom. \nMelissa has assisted Charles in workshops\, classes and online teaching sessions since 2016. She enjoys literal image making but really loves exploring her creative side with various post-processing methods.
If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!

SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Photographing Migratory & Song Birds and Techniques for Editing with Tony Baldasaro
DESCRIPTION:This online class will meet Tuesdays April 30th & May 7th\, 7-8:30pm EST • Please note the change in dates! \nIn February\, guest photography Tony Baldasaro joined Hunt’s Photo Education to discuss how to photograph wild birds. In April\, Tony will be rejoining us to discuss why it is more challenging to photograph migratory and song birds and how to be more effective at it in the field! \nTony will start with some of the basics: \n• Photographing large raptors is often a sit and wait game\, where songbirds are a seek and find game. Where do we go and how do we find them? \n• Smaller birds often means faster and more divergent in their paths. What lenses should we use and how do we focus? \n• Understanding migration is a great start for success. When do birds migrate? When are they active? Where are they found? \nHe will also cover more focused topics: \n• Depth of Field- How does this change when photographing small\, fast birds? \n• Songs/Behavior- Understanding their songs and behaviors will only increase one’s odds! \n• Plumage- This is very important with songbirds! \n• Light- How do we deal with low light areas\, such as forests? \nTony will also cover: \n\nProper Equipment & Settings\nIn depth review of how aperture and focal length impact the final image\nCompositional techniques to keep in mind in the field\nCelebrating your subject’s story\n\nPost processing bird images in Lightroom can be a challenge of its own\, with potentially thousands of raw images collected in the field.  Session 2 will include:  \n\nManaging & culling your files in Lightroom\nChoosing impactful images. \nPost processing techniques for wild birds in Lightroom\nThe use of AI tools to manage noise and blur issues.  \n\nAbout Tony Baldasaro Having called New England my home for nearly 50 years\, Tony has grown accustomed to not only the seasonal changes\, but also the sometimes volatile weather that comes with those changes and has come to love photographing in all of the conditions New England has to offer.\nWith more than 20 years of photography experience\, he loves creating images that depict not only natural landscapes\, but the animals found in those landscapes as well. Specifically\, he loves creating images of birds in their natural habitat.\nIn addition to photography\, Tony has been a teacher and school official for nearly 30 years. Merging his two passions\, photography and education\, gives him the opportunity to do what he loves most: Teach and create. He looks forward to continuing to teach and create moving forward. \n\n\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–90 minutes to 2 hours– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class!
SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Working with Macro Photography!
DESCRIPTION:Working with Macro Photography \nJoin instructor Emily Hojnowski as she brings you into the world of Macro (Close-Up) Photography! Too often we feel that our photography comes to a halt during inclement weather. However\, there is ample opportunity to make use of our creativity while staying indoors. Many household items– cut flowers\, books\, antiques\, jewelry\, and glassware– all make for wonderful subjects while using natural window light. Every table in your house can become a landscape of opportunity with some imagination and creativity. \nOver the course of 4 weeks\, Emily will discuss a multitude of topics regarding macro–from basic settings and lenses\, to composition and depth of field\, to lighting and special effects. Each week\, you will be tasked with creating macro images. Building on from what you learned that week\, you will be given assignments that help challenge you more about what works (and doesn’t work) in macro photography. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your macro skills while getting direct feedback on your week. \n  \nAbout our Multi-Session Series Courses \nIn our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week.
