SUMMARY:Online: Beyond the Basics- Low Light & Night Photography
DESCRIPTION:After learning ?the basics? of digital photography\, become more comfortable in the world of digital photography by taking the next step.\nNight Photography requires patience and creative vision. Despite the limitations of darkness there is still great detail and color to be captured through your lenses. Low light photography is equally challenging\, but requires a completely different set of techniques. This course specifically covers these two very different yet aesthetically beautiful types of photography. While our Beginner class scratches the surface of these functions\, this Beyond the Basics class covers the following topics in Low-Light and Night Photography:\n? Exposure\, Focusing\, Settings\, Subject Matter\, and Gear\n? RAW vs. Jpeg shooting\n? Aperture Priority vs. Manual\n? Live View and Manual Focus\nUnderstanding the full-functionality of your camera is a necessity to improving your flexibility when photographing in a variety of situations. This course is designed to help you feel more comfortable about how to change your camera?s settings in those situations. It is recommended as a follow-up to our Beginner Photography course.

SUMMARY:Online: Sharpening Your Vision- How\, When\, & Why to Use Image Sharpening
DESCRIPTION:You’ve taken an amazing photograph: The color is exquisite\, the composition is spot on\, and it is tack sharp. Or maybe you’ve got the first two things going for you\, but the focus is just so-so. In both of these cases\, image sharpening–the process of creating contrast on the edges of detail– is important to consider and understand.\nAnd yet\, sharpening is also one of the most difficult editing tools to understand and master. Because it’s based on fine detail\, image sharpening isn’t always easy to notice when applying it. Often\, over-sharpening can occur which can have negative effects on your image.\nThis class will help get you on the right track to proper sharpening. We’ll discuss the basics of image sharpening\, including what images will benefit from it\, and what standard changes to make in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Camera RAW. We will also discuss the role other programs\, such as Topaz Sharpening AI\, play in the process.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nCan’t attend the class? \nIf you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video\, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video and PDF link the next day!

SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Advanced Techniques to Fine Art Photography with Thibault Roland
DESCRIPTION:For most of us\, photography is inherently technical. We strive to obtain the most recent and superior gear\, sometimes just so we can play with new toys.\nThere is nothing wrong with that\, but photography goes beyond the equipment we use\, and it can be hard at times not to lose focus that we are creatives first and foremost.\nWith this approach in mind\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland will use his own work to introduce the concepts behind some of his signature techniques such as long exposure\, infrared and tilt/shift photography. He will discuss how they can be used in order to create unique looking images and effects\, and how a change in perspective with respect to equipment can drastically improve your own photographic work.\nAbout Thibault: Born in France in 1981\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland is a scientist by training and fine art photographer. Thanks to his rigorous background he became a Master of techniques such as long exposure\, tilt/shift and infrared photography. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Thursday March 10th\, 7-8pm ? Online! \nPrinted Image Review: Thursday March 24th\, 6-8pm ? In our Hunt’s Melrose store or Online! \nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic!\nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Comparing Paper Surfaces\nWhat does it look like on Matte Paper? What does it look like on Glossy Paper? Why would I print it on one versus the other? What does the paper bring to my image?\nIn this class\, we will help discuss the answers to these questions. In our instructional online presentation\, we’ll discuss some of the key differences between paper surfaces and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. Then\, we will literally print the image two times so we can see the difference\, getting to the root of the answers.\nIn the end\, you will receive TWO prints of your edited image up to 13×19″ in size. (Please note: The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of those prints!)\nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time.

SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Finding Color
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis week’s topic is Finding Color. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment.\nYour personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- People
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Friday November 26th\, 7-8pm ? Online!\nImage Review/Critique: Monday December 6th\, 7-9pm ? Online!\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the ?Walk? portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis week?s topic is People. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment.\nYour personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it?s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!
