SUMMARY:Creative Portrait Shootout: A Hands-On Styled Portrait Experience with Tony Gale and Hunt's Photo Education- Hunt's Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This workshop previously had a slightly different title (Capture the Moment). All other details are identical. \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education and Sony for a hands-on event with a trio of photographers (Sony Ambassador Tony Gale\, frequent Hunt’s Photo Education guest instructor Henry Marte\, and Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson) guiding you to capture amazing portraits! \nIn this Portrait Shootout\, we will have four unique portrait setups for you to photograph. Each setup will be a little different\, placing our models in unique scenery\, props and costumes. All setups will have lighting provided. The goal is to put you\, the photographer\, in front of as many opportunities to capture unique portraits. Through scenery\, props\, costumes\, atmosphere\, and lighting\, you’ll be able transform a simple portrait into a more complex story! You also don’t need to be an expert at any of these elements to participate. Many of these setups will be built\, so you don’t need to worry about knowing the lighting or even how to pose the model! However\, we will have enough instructors to describe how or why you light or pose a subject in a specific way\, if you want to know! \nThe Creative Portrait Shootout aims to inspire and invigorate photographers to create something amazing. Join us for this fantastic opportunity! \nThis event is sponsored by Sony\, but ALL photographers\, regardless what camera you have\, are encouraged to attend. Sony loaner gear (cameras and lenses) will be available for ANYONE interested! (Make sure to bring a driver’s license and credit card for loaners.) \nSony Contest! \nIn addition to the event\, attendees will have the opportunity to post up their best image to IG in an attempt to win a prize. Details to be announced at the event! \nAbout Tony: \nSony Ambassador Tony Gale is a NYC based award winning portrait  photographer shooting for a range of advertising\, editorial and corporate clients. Tony was raised in Bellingham\, Washington (90 miles north of Seattle) and spent most of his time as a child exploring the woods behind his parents house. At 19 after visiting Bruce Lee’s grave in Seattle\, and taking his first photo with a disposable camera\, he bought his first camera. He promptly broke it and bought his first SLR. At 21\, he moved to Seattle to pursue photography and in fall of 2000 moved to NYC\, the center of the world. \nTony has taught photographic lighting at FIT in NYC and Parsons the New School for Design\, judged photo contests\, and has traveled the country leading workshops for American Photographic Artists. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.

SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Fine Art Photography: Long Exposures and Infrared with Thibault Roland
DESCRIPTION:For most of us\, photography is inherently technical. We strive to obtain the most recent and superior gear\, sometimes just so we can play with new toys. \nThere is nothing wrong with that\, but photography goes beyond the equipment we use\, and it can be hard at times not to lose focus that we are creatives first and foremost. \nWith this approach in mind\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland will use his own work to introduce the concepts behind some of his signature techniques such as long exposure\, infrared and tilt/shift photography. He will discuss how they can be used in order to create unique looking images and effects\, and how a change in perspective with respect to equipment can drastically improve your own photographic work. \nFine Art Weekend at Hunt’s Photo with Thibault Roland\nThis online class is a lead-in to our Fine Art Weekend with Thibault Roland\, featuring an afternoon of photographing long exposures (April 20) and an afternoon of photographing infrared (April 21). If you register for either of those events\, entry to this online class is included! \nAbout Thibault: Born in France in 1981\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland is a scientist by training and fine art photographer. Thanks to his rigorous background he became a Master of techniques such as long exposure\, tilt/shift and infrared photography. He specializes in black and white architecture\, minimalism and seascapes. His fine art photographs have been shown\, published and awarded internationally and are included in public and private collections such as at the Boston Athenaeum. Previously an instructor at the New England School of Photography\, Thibault teaches workshops and gives seminars internationally. Thibault currently lives in Portland\, OR.\nYou can find more information and see Thibault’s work at thibaultroland.com/ \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–90 minutes to 2 hours– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video. \nCan’t attend the class? \nIf you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video\, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video link the next day! \nWant to get this class after it’s been run?– We have an online store where you can purchase all our previously run classes here: https://edu.huntsphoto.com/buy-previous-courses/ \nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!
