DESCRIPTION:Winter in Yellowstone National Park is a wonderland of unique creative opportunities. In January\, snow\, ice\, frost\, fog\, and the aura of winter transform Yellowstone and the Lamar Valley into an inspiring world of creative opportunity. We will photograph snowy landscapes\, ice-laden trees\, frost-covered bison\, foraging Elk and Moose\, Coyotes\, Bighorn Sheep\, and more. Despite winter’s dramatic conditions\, nature and wildlife abound. Join us for a challenging and meaningful experience photographing winter in Yellowstone. \nAfter arriving in Bozeman on January 8th\, we will travel together by van to Gardiner\, Montana\, on the 9th\, where we will use the Absaroka Lodge as our home base. Each day\, we drive the northern range of Yellowstone\, from Gardiner to Cooke City\, in search of wildlife and inspiring winter landscapes. For winter weather\, dress in layers. Pack insulated\, waterproof or water-resistant pants (ski pants or fleece-lined pants)\, fleece tops\, base layers\, neck gaiters\, hats that cover your ears\, gloves\, warm socks\, insulated boots with good tread\, and a waterproof insulated jacket or vest. Boot gaiters also come in handy to keep snow from sneaking inside your boots. \nParticipants must be prepared for extreme cold weather. \nParticipants should use soft sided rolling duffle for luggage.  Pack conservatively. \nPayments\nA non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 90 days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance. \nRecommended gear: \nCamera\, memory cards\, batteries\nWide angle\, standard\, macro and telephoto lenses (If you are looking for a lens to rent\, you can rent it from us at rentals.huntsphoto.com!)\nTripod\nPolarizers and Neutral Density filters if you have them \nTravel information\nParticipants MUST arrive on the first day listed during the day. SUMMARY:Hunt’s Photo Adventure: Grizzly Bears\, Wildlife\, and Landscapes of Chilko Lake
DESCRIPTION:180 air miles north of Vancouver\, BC\, lies Chilko Lake and River. Nestled within the Pacific Coast Mountains\, this fifty-mile turquoise blue lake is surrounded by ancient glaciers and raw\, untouched beauty. Fed by glacial streams and clean\, cold water\, the Chilko River flows northeast and joins the mighty Fraser River. Chilko is a rare gem. \nThe Chilko area is a photographer’s paradise. Known for its stunning beauty and different species of wildlife\, it offers you the perfect spot to shoot to your heart’s content. While we are out looking for Grizzly Bears\, there are other wildlife shots to take\, including Eagles\, Osprey\, ducks\, geese\, Mule Deer\, Black Bear\, and salmon.  Landscapes\, including the last of the fall foliage\, will be available too. \nEach day\, we will cruise the lake and rivers by boat\, looking for wildlife.  These are 16-foot\, open-air boats with captain’s chairs allowing for comfort and access to all creative opportunities.  There will be three boats: one guide and three guests per boat.  Each morning\, we will be out early (after an earlier breakfast) for first light.  We will return to the lodge for lunch and a break.  Our second session of the day will be later in the afternoon until the last usable light. \nWe will have the lodge to ourselves.  Each attendee (or couple) will have their own room. \nThree meals a day are included.  Dietary needs will be addressed as needed. \nPlease note: Attendees should expect to arrive on Saturday October 16th.
