DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we?ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. DESCRIPTION:Did you take a photograph that’s too dark? Is the color way off? Did someone leave a pile of junk in the background of your otherwise pristine photo?\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Ray Levesque as he shows how to make the best out of your bad photos in Lightroom! We will show tips and tricks on how to recover lost treasures\, touch up using spot removal and layer masks\, beautify using noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain\, and make the best with what you have!\nDisclaimer– there are always limits to what you can do with bad photos and not every bad photo can become a work of art\, and we will discuss what can and cannot be saved in the post-processing world! \nWe will be demoing these techniques on-screen during the class. This class will be recorded\, so we recommend that you watch the process and take notes during this time. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. SUMMARY:Hunt's Astrophotography Workshop in the White Mountains
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation- One-Shot Astro: Tuesday\, August 19th\, 7pm ET • Online! \nIn-the-Field: Saturday\, August 23rd\, 6:30pm-midnight \nPlease note: This workshop is being offered with both Friday and Saturday sessions. Make sure to register for the correct date! \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski for a special astrophotography workshop in Central New Hampshire! This workshop will consist of two parts: An introduction to astro\, presented earlier in the week\, and a workshop in the field in the White Mountains. \nDuring the introduction\, Astrophotography 101- One-Shot Astro\, Emily will cover everything you need to get started: brainstorming an idea\, planning the shot\, working in the field\, and processing the image in Lightroom. All are welcome to register for this class\, but the presentation is free to attend for all attending the workshop. During the in-the-field sessions\, Emily will lead a small group of photographers to a fantastic view of the night sky in Central New Hampshire. While on location\, we will review techniques discussed during the lecture by putting them into practice! If possible\, we will also work on some light painting techniques in the field! \nThis workshop is an intermediate level class. While photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend\, they should have a solid understanding of how to make changes on their cameras. \nMeeting Location \nOur workshop will be taking place in the White Mountains. We will send more specifics to those registered leading up to the workshop date. Attendees may choose to stay at a nearby hotel overnight. If you do\, consider the towns of Lincoln and Bartlett\, as our spots will be in-between those locations. Conway and North Conway are further\, but also options. \nRegarding inclement weather\nWe will do our very best to control the weather each night…or at least monitor the weather leading up to the event! We have two separate days for this workshop\, and if one night looks particularly improbable\, you may have the opportunity to shift to a surrounding night. Again\, we will monitor it leading up to the event. \nCancellations \nDue to the small group size\, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made within 72-hours.

DESCRIPTION:Launched in 1947\, the USS Salem is the last heavy cruiser to serve the United States Navy.  A vital member of the North Atlantic Fleet as the flagship for the 6th Fleet\, she and her crew saw service in Cuba and throughout the Mediterranean.  Currently in dock at the Quincy Shipyard where she was built and commissioned\, the USS Salem is now a ship museum open to the public for viewing and tours.  Join us for a morning of exploring and photographing this historic ship! \nPlease note: A portion of the cost of your ticket goes to the entrance to the USS Salem. \nAlso… There are spots on this tour where you can encounter small\, tight spaces and have to climb up/down ladders.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Astrophotography Workshop in the White Mountains
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation- One-Shot Astro: Tuesday\, August 19th\, 7pm ET • Online! \nIn-the-Field: Friday\, August 22nd\, 6:30pm-midnight \nPlease note: This workshop is being offered with both Friday and Saturday sessions. Make sure to register for the correct date! \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski for a special astrophotography workshop in Central New Hampshire! This workshop will consist of two parts: An introduction to astro\, presented earlier in the week\, and a workshop in the field in the White Mountains. \nDuring the introduction\, Astrophotography 101- One-Shot Astro\, Emily will cover everything you need to get started: brainstorming an idea\, planning the shot\, working in the field\, and processing the image in Lightroom. All are welcome to register for this class\, but the presentation is free to attend for all attending the workshop. During the in-the-field sessions\, Emily will lead a small group of photographers to a fantastic view of the night sky in Central New Hampshire. While on location\, we will review techniques discussed during the lecture by putting them into practice! If possible\, we will also work on some light painting techniques in the field! \nThis workshop is an intermediate level class. While photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend\, they should have a solid understanding of how to make changes on their cameras. \nMeeting Location \nOur workshop will be taking place in the White Mountains. We will send more specifics to those registered leading up to the workshop date. Attendees may choose to stay at a nearby hotel overnight. If you do\, consider the towns of Lincoln and Bartlett\, as our spots will be in-between those locations. Conway and North Conway are further\, but also options. \nRegarding inclement weather\nWe will do our very best to control the weather each night…or at least monitor the weather leading up to the event! We have two separate days for this workshop\, and if one night looks particularly improbable\, you may have the opportunity to shift to a surrounding night. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Explorer Series- New Bedford Historic District
DESCRIPTION:Photographers scout locations before a scheduled event or workshop to pre-determine viable places for exploration\, creativity\, and learning. The scouting process often involves targeting specific areas of interest as well as wandering curiously with an open mind to find other points of interest. Almost every photographer new to a location starts with a clean slate and learns as they go. Planning can be beneficial\, but serendipity can be joyously fruitful. Whether a moment is planned or spontaneous\, learning and growth are essential. \nThe Hunt’s Photo Explorer Series will consist of excursions that vary in duration depending on the chosen location\, and locations will be places not previously visited or scouted for a Hunt’s Photo Walk\, Adventure\, or Workshop. Everyone will meet at a designated parking location and then begin exploring both in a group and individual format\, so as to understand what to look for on a scouting location (and to scout on one’s own). Exploring locations “sight unseen” allows individual’s unique opportunities to further develop their photography skills and creative vision. \nNew Bedford Historic District\, New Bedford\, Massachusetts \nDuring the 19th century\, New Bedford was the center of the whaling industry in New England. With the decline of the whaling industry in the 20th century\, the city committed itself to preserving much of its rich maritime history. The New Bedford Historic District\, formed in 1966\, features original cobblestone streets\, buildings dating back to the 1700s\, unique architecture\, a whaling museum\, and more. We will explore the details\, textures\, colors\, and tones of the Historic District as well as street photography\, architectural photography\, and more.

DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now.This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. Bottom Line: Great class for confused beginners.?\n?Everything about this class was excellent. SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Sports Portraits and Portraits in Action
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and portrait and sports photographer Henry Marte for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be creating dynamic lighting scenarios involving athletes\, both posed and in motion! Attendees will learn about how to create amazing portraits using a mixture of natural light and flash\, understand subject placement\, when and why to use strobes (and where to place them)\, and will end up with some excellent portfolio-building images! \nIn this workshop\, we will begin by developing dynamic lighting setups with natural light and flash. Attendees will begin to develop an understanding of how lighting outdoors can positively affect sports portraits. During the second half of the workshop\, we will take it a step further by adding in movement and action\, a unique and fun look in our end result!   We will use Westcott strobes and have a series of athlete-models available for the shoot. \nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process of lighting a subject\, how to properly expose while using strobes\, and how to actually use the strobes themselves!\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Canterbury Shaker Village
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at the historic Canterbury Shaker Village.\nShakers were a religious group formed in England in the 1700s from a variety of religions\, including English Quakers and Methodists. (Shakers were named based on their ecstatic dance\, initially known as “Shaking Quakers”.) Shaker communities sprouted throughout Northeastern Colonial America\, eventually heading westward. Due to the celibate nature of the communities\, the Shaker communities dwindled into the 20th century\, including the Canterbury Shaker Village\, whose last surviving members died in the early 1990s. Founded in 1965\, the Canterbury Shaker Village preserves the heritage of the Canterbury Shaker Community from the past two centuries. The settlement is complete with original Shaker buildings\, as well as the surrounding area of forests\, fields\, gardens\, nature trails\, and mill ponds.\nOn this walk\, we will photograph the outside buildings of this historic sect’s wholly simple (and simply holy) lives. We will attempt to tell the story of the Shakers through what they left behind. This will include an emphasis on Composition and discussing Black & White\, architecture\, and close-up photography. Come photograph a fascinating historical lifestyle! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education and Harman Film for a launch event for Harman’s Phoenix II film.  \nHarman initially introduced Phoenix film (ISO 200) in late 2023 as a limited release and experimental film. Harman’s Phoenix II film is a brand new film stock that offers plenty of analog character\, but improves upon contrast\, grain\, and sharpness. \nFor this event\, we will begin with a meet and greet and introduction to the film at the store\, including a brief presentation from Harman. All attendees will receive a free roll of Phoenix II film as well as a coupon for free development and scanning of the roll. (Hey! The cost of this event is less than the cost of those three things combined!)  \nAttendees are welcome to continue with us to a nearby location where we can test out the roll on a photo scavenger hunt.
