SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: The “Mighty 5” National Parks of Utah
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Jeff Swinger on an unforgettable photography adventure through Utah’s legendary “Big 5” — five stunning National Parks located in the heart of the American Southwest. Each park offers its own unique and dramatic landscape\, making this trip a dream come true for photographers and nature lovers alike. \nZion National Park\nWe begin in Zion\, a paradise for photographers known for its towering cliffs\, narrow canyons\, and incredible light. From dramatic viewpoints to immersive canyon experiences\, there are endless opportunities to create compelling images. \nBryce Canyon National Park\nNext\, we move on to Bryce\, where you’ll step into a fantasyland of towering hoodoos and colorful sandstone pillars. With the highest concentration of hoodoos in the world\, Bryce offers truly otherworldly scenes\, especially during the golden hours. \nCapitol Reef National Park\nFrom Bryce\, we head to one of Utah’s hidden gems. Capitol Reef features sandstone cliffs\, white domes\, arches\, and winding canyons shaped by a massive geologic fold stretching across the landscape. It’s incredibly photogenic and far less crowded. \nArches and Canyonlands\, Moab\, Utah\nWe then explore the Moab area\, where we’ll spend our time photographing the incredible landscapes of Arches and Canyonlands. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic Pt 3
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: A Morning at Plimoth Patuxet in Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at the historic Plimoth Patuxet in Plymouth\, Massachusetts. This walk will have an emphasis on storytelling with lots of opportunities for environmental portraits\, macro\, landscape\, and low light photography\, all under the guise of a 17th century New England settlement. On this walk\, we will emphasize shooting in glorious black & white\, and Plimoth Patuxet is a great place to work in black & white! \nFounded more than 65 years ago\, Plimoth Patuxet is a living history museum that depicts the life and culture of America’s first settlers in the 17th century. The settlement is complete with houses\, gardens\, animals\, and pilgrims that live and speak just as if it was 1627. The grounds\, homes\, and settlers make for wonderful studies in light\, architecture\, detail\, and portraiture. \nPlease note: The cost of your ticket does not include entrance to Plimoth Patuxet. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. Older versions\, such as Lightroom 5 or 6\, are also acceptable\, though not all functions will be available. \n \nCurious which Adobe plan to get? We recommend the 20GB Photography Plan\, detailed in the screenshot on the left. You can find it here!

SUMMARY:Creative Portrait Shootout: A Hands-On Styled Portrait Experience- Hunt's Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education and Sony for a hands-on event with a trio of photographers (Sony Ambassador Tony Gale\, frequent Hunt’s Photo Education guest instructor Henry Marte\, and Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson) guiding you to capture amazing portraits! \nIn this Portrait Shootout\, we will have four unique portrait setups for you to photograph. Each setup will be a little different\, placing our models in unique scenery\, props and costumes. All setups will have lighting provided. The goal is to put you\, the photographer\, in front of as many opportunities to capture unique portraits. Through scenery\, props\, costumes\, atmosphere\, and lighting\, you’ll be able transform a simple portrait into a more complex story! You also don’t need to be an expert at any of these elements to participate. Many of these setups will be built\, so you don’t need to worry about knowing the lighting or even how to pose the model! However\, we will have enough instructors to describe how or why you light or pose a subject in a specific way\, if you want to know! \nThe Creative Portrait Shootout aims to inspire and invigorate photographers to create something amazing. Join us for this fantastic opportunity! \nThis event is sponsored by Sony\, but ALL photographers\, regardless what camera you have\, are encouraged to attend. Sony loaner gear (cameras and lenses) will be available for ANYONE interested! (Make sure to bring a driver’s license and credit card for loaners.) \nSony Contest! \nIn addition to the event\, attendees will have the opportunity to post up their best image to IG in an attempt to win a prize. Details to be announced at the event! \nAbout Tony: \nSony Ambassador Tony Gale is a NYC based award winning portrait  photographer shooting for a range of advertising\, editorial and corporate clients. Tony was raised in Bellingham\, Washington (90 miles north of Seattle) and spent most of his time as a child exploring the woods behind his parents house. At 19 after visiting Bruce Lee’s grave in Seattle\, and taking his first photo with a disposable camera\, he bought his first camera. He promptly broke it and bought his first SLR. At 21\, he moved to Seattle to pursue photography and in fall of 2000 moved to NYC\, the center of the world. \nTony has taught photographic lighting at FIT in NYC and Parsons the New School for Design\, judged photo contests\, and has traveled the country leading workshops for American Photographic Artists. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. SUMMARY:Print Review Monthly: Printing in Monochrome
DESCRIPTION:Introduction on Printing in Monochrome- Thursday November 12th\, 6:30pm ET • Online! \nPrint Review- Thursday November 19th\, 6pm ET • Hunt’s Melrose or Online! \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing in Monochrome \nMonochrome literally means “one color”. This generally refers to classic black and white\, in which all other color is stripped away and we’re left with the beautiful and simple image at its core.  However\, monochrome can also refer to an image that is printed with a different hue than black\, such as blue\, brown (sepia)\, or other tones. \nIn this class\, we will discuss printing in monochrome\, from black & white to blue & white to brown & white and beyond. Which images and papers work? We will workshop your images to make a different concept! \nThis Print Review topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic– some of the key differences between paper surfaces– and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. Educator Paul Nelson will produce a recorded image review\, discussing paper options\, editing suggestions\, and more\, to be sent back to you leading up to the second session. Paul will then print images for the class. In the end\, you will receive a print of one of your edited images up to 13×19″ in size. (Please note: We are happy to make a larger or additional print outside of the class for an additional fee!) \nJoin us for an informative Printed Review class! \nA Note About The Printed Review Series \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. These sessions are excellent for anyone: \n• Someone that wants a little help with editing before they get a print \n• Someone that does print but has print-related questions \n• A person that prints often and wants to try a different paper \n• Someone with no knowledge of printing that just wants to get a print! \n  \nCome check out why printing is the best thing to do for your photography! \n  \nIn-Person or Online \nThis class will be taking place in-person in our Melrose store location and online\, in case you cannot attend live. If you cannot attend live\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.

SUMMARY:Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic- Hunt's Photo\, Manchester
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This course does not cover file management or importing images into the program. To learn how to do that\, check out our Lightroom File Management courses. \nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 2\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture and begin to discuss a variety of masking techniques.
