To learn how to do that\, check out our Lightroom File Management courses. \nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 2\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at Piers Park in East Boston. During the walk\, we will discuss shooting in lower light with an emphasis on night photography. Piers Park was developed in the mid-1990s as a contrast to this\, offering beautiful landscaping\, natural vegetation\, and stunning views of downtown Boston. On this walk\, we will photograph the grounds of Piers Park and the skyline during blue hour\, sunset\, and civil twilight. Photographers of all levels are welcome!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Canterbury Shaker Village
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at the historic Canterbury Shaker Village.\nShakers were a religious group formed in England in the 1700s from a variety of religions\, including English Quakers and Methodists. (Shakers were named based on their ecstatic dance\, initially known as “Shaking Quakers”.) Shaker communities sprouted throughout Northeastern Colonial America\, eventually heading westward. Due to the celibate nature of the communities\, the Shaker communities dwindled into the 20th century\, including the Canterbury Shaker Village\, whose last surviving members died in the early 1990s. Founded in 1965\, the Canterbury Shaker Village preserves the heritage of the Canterbury Shaker Community from the past two centuries. The settlement is complete with original Shaker buildings\, as well as the surrounding area of forests\, fields\, gardens\, nature trails\, and mill ponds.\nOn this walk\, we will photograph the outside buildings of this historic sect’s wholly simple (and simply holy) lives. We will attempt to tell the story of the Shakers through what they left behind. This will include an emphasis on Composition and discussing Black & White\, architecture\, and close-up photography. DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is taken by the Wakefield Rec Department at this Link!\nThursdays September 24th\, October 1st\, 8th\, 15th\, 22nd & 29th\, 4:30-5:45pm • Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose \nOver the course of the sessions\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. In every session we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers taking pictures as much as possible!  At the end of each session\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! Please note: This course is geared towards students aged 11-16 years old. Our age requirement is general and a certain maturity level is helpful.  Younger students with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education Presents…The Weekend Workshops: A long weekend featuring education seminars\, photo walks and workshops\, image reviews\, editing\, and fine art printing\, all in glorious black and white. \nDuring the weekend\, each attendee will have the opportunity to attend four Photo Walks/Workshops. We will have an introductory meet and greet and presentation on the first evening that will set the tone and expectations for the weekend\, as well as allow attendees to mingle with other attendees. On days 2 and 3\, our instructors will conduct one Photo Walk in the mid/late morning and one Photo Walk in the evening. They will repeat the same schedule on Friday and Saturday. (So\, if you attend a Photo Walk with Instructor A on Friday morning\, you’ll have the ability to attend a different Photo Walk with Instructor B on Saturday morning.)\nDuring the middle part of Friday and Saturday\, we will have image reviews\, image processing\, and have general photography discussions. You are welcome to attend these\, or you can take a break\, if needed! \nOn Day 4\, we will print and review selected images from all attendees. You are welcome to take these images with you after the workshop! \nThis year will be centered out of our Hunt’s Photo Melrose store location. Our Melrose store has a large classroom area which will be excellent for our editing and review sessions! Because of the many variables\, we will only be using one specific type of developer\, but we will discuss the possibilities of other developers available and their advantages. \nPlease note: This class caters to black & white film developing only! We will also have a color film developing class. All film classes can be found here. \nWe will provide tanks\, reels\, chemistry\, and basically anything that you need to develop your film. All you will need to have is a roll of film to develop. (Make sure that roll is black and white and NOT C-41 black and white\, as that cannot be developed in black and white chemistry!) \nWe will also include a free scan of your film after it has been processed! Since your film will be wet at the end of the session\, you will leave it to dry so it can be scanned. The digital scans will be sent directly to your email address. If you would like the negatives to be shipped to another store for pickup\, we can gladly do that!

We look forward to exploring with you! \n\nAbout Jonathan: \nJonathan Pitts-Wiley is a photographer working in Rhode Island and beyond whose work explores the relationships between identity\, presence\, and community. He creates images rooted in attention\, trust\, and the belief that photography can preserve individual stories and our shared humanity. \nHis clients include the Barr Foundation\, Brown University\, the City of Providence\, Amos House\, Trinity Repertory Company\, and Mixed Magic Theatre. \nIn 2020\, he co-founded The Vanta Guild\, a collective of Rhode Island–based Black photographers. In 2021\, he collaborated with Mary Beth Meehan on Witness\, honoring his late grandmother\, Annye Raye Pitts\, while exploring the Great Migration. \nHis work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions including All the Worlds (World’s Fair Gallery)\, Who We Are Now (City of Providence)\, Growing the NetWorks (WaterFire Arts Center)\, and America Unfinished?! (WaterFire Arts Center). In 2024\, he was elected an Artist Member of Art League RI. \nA lifelong theater artist\, Jonathan approaches photography with an eye for character\, gesture\, rhythm\, and narrative\, creating portraits and documentaries that invite viewers to look more closely. \n\n

Bottom Line: Great class for confused beginners.?\n?Everything about this class was excellent. The instructors were patient and took time to answer every question thoroughly and we were given ample time to try out the techniques we were being shown. All in all\, a wonderful experience.?\n?Very much liked the instructors- knowledgeable\, entertaining\, encouraging\, not judgmental. Loved the casual nature of the class and opportunity for one-on-one discussions. Excellent for me\, as a novice.?

DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is taken by the Wakefield Rec Department at this Link!\nWednesdays September 30th\, October 7th\, 14th\, 21st\, 28th & November 4th\, 4:30-6pm • Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a 6-session photography program aimed at strengthening their photographic skills while also learning a bit about how to take the best portraits.\n\nOver the course of the sessions\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, including portrait composition\, posing\, direction and interaction with the subject\, lighting (indoors and outside)\, editing and more! In every session we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers taking pictures as much as possible! At the end of each session\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them.\nAs this is a class about portraits\, all attendees should be ready to have their picture taken! The best way to learn about how to pose and direct your subject is to be a subject yourself\, and that’s what these sessions aim to do. In the end\, attendees should have a better understanding of what makes a successful portrait\, how to execute it\, and also have some great shots of themselves! \nPrerequisites: \n–Attendees should have a little bit of experience with their cameras. They do not need to be experts\, but this shouldn’t be the first time using their camera. We also offer our Intro to Photography program if you are just starting out. \n-This course is geared towards students aged 11-16 years old. Our age requirement is general and a certain maturity level is helpful.  Younger students with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. \n-Students will be required to have some kind of camera. SUMMARY:Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose (Pt 2)
DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 2\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now.This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Autumn in Yellowstone National Park
DESCRIPTION:Autumn in Yellowstone National Park provides every photographer ample opportunity to capture images showcasing the breathtaking scenery\, inspiring nature\, and dramatic wildlife.  Photographers will be inspired by the autumn colors\, the drama of the seasonal rut\, a variety of wildlife\, and a diverse palette of nature scenes.  Each day\, based on weather\, light\, and activity\, we will explore the park for wildlife such as Elk\, Bears\, Bison\, and Great Grey Owls.  Landscape and nature opportunities will include the beauty of Lamar and Hayden Valleys\, geyser basins\, waterfalls\, autumn trees\, and historic rivers.  Yellowstone in autumn is not to be missed! \nItinerary \nOct 2 arrival to Bozeman.   We will have a group dinner to discuss plans for the week and discuss safety and protocol. Stay at Best Western in Bozeman\, MT. \nOct 3 – 7am start.  Attendees will meet in the lobby at 7am with bags and gear.  Our guide Adam Brubaker will drive us to West Yellowstone where we will stay for the week. Stay at Best Western Desert Inn\, West Yellowstone MT \nOct 4 – 9:  Each day we will set out in search of wildlife and nature scenes. Our primary goals are Elk in the rut\, Bears (Grizzly and Black)\, Bison\, Great Grey Owls\, and more. We will photograph the landscape and various nature scenes such as waterfalls\, rivers\, geyser basins\, autumn trees\, and more. \nOct 10 – 8am departure for Bozeman for flights.  Do not book a flight earlier than 12 noon. \n  \nWhat’s included:\n•In-field instruction at each location\n•Local Transportation & Guides in Yellowstone\n•Cost of Hotels \nWhat’s not included:\n•Flight to and from Bozeman\, MT; any additional transportation to the Best Western Hotel in Bozeman\, MT\n•Cost of meals\, Any gratuities \nSkill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity: Low. Minimal hiking. \nIn this workshop we will cover: \nAutofocus\, including with photographing wildlife\nExposure\nComposition\nMetering\nUse of Lenses\nSubject Development\nCreative Thinking\nShooting in Low Light \n  \nPayments\nA non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 90 days prior to the workshop. Arrange cab (about 60 dollars) or hotel shuttle (free) from Bozeman Airport to Best Western\, Bozeman MT.
