DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is taken by the Wakefield Rec Department at this Link!\nMonday July 13th to Friday July 17th\, 10am-12pm each day • Hunt’s Photo\, Melrose \nDo you have a budding photographer that you want to encourage? Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a 6-session photography program aimed at strengthening their interest\, improving their photography\, and getting them truly excited about being the artist\, the creator\, and the family photographer! \nOver the course of the sessions\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. In every session we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers taking pictures as much as possible! At the end of each session\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! Please note: This course is geared towards students aged 11-16 years old. Our age requirement is general and a certain maturity level is helpful.  Younger students with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. We generally recommend a DSLR or mirrorless camera\, but if you’re unsure\, feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com \nThis will be a fun program with experienced instruction. Are you putting your camera away because you just don’t see the difference between your expensive camera and your smart phone? \nLearn to fully utilize your cameras potentials! Harness your creative power with photography! \nThis is one of the first classes to consider when you’re getting started with your Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera. We will discuss Exposure (how light works with the camera)\, the Big Three Settings (Aperture\, Shutter Speed\, & ISO)\, how they affect your picture and how to set them\, and what mode to set it to on your camera! We’ll discuss changing depth-of-field (controlling what’s in focus in the background\, stopping or blurring the action in your scene\, and many other basic picture-taking techniques. We recommend taking this class prior to Digital Photography Basics 2\, which is the next logical step! \nJoin us to start learning about Digital Photography! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! Have the day to relax or explore the surrounding beaches. Later\, we’ll pick you up for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant—an ideal opportunity to ask questions\, bond with fellow travelers\, and share in the anticipation of the journey ahead. \nFor sunset we head to picturesque beaches of Santa Bárbara and Monte Verde. Alternatively\, we may head to the jagged cliffs of Miradouro do Cintrão\, providing a breathtaking view of the north coast and the majestic Sete Cidades volcano in the background. Get ready for a day filled with exploration\, delicious cuisine\, and the perfect moments to capture with your camera. \nDay 2 – São Miguel\nThe day starts at Lagoa do Fogo volcanic lake\, one of the highest points of the island. If you have a drone\, take full advantage of it to capture unique perspectives up here. \nAfter lunch\, our journey heads west to explore the volcanic crater of Sete Cidades\, home to the captivating multi-colored lakes of Lagoa Verde and Azul. It’s a truly incredible sight\, providing a sense of the surrounding area. If you’re into adventurous activities\, kayaking and paddleboarding are delightful options on these scenic lakes. \nOur next destination is one of the Azores’ highlights—the Grota do Inferno viewpoint. While the crater lakes of Sete Cidades can be admired from various vantage points\, this spot stands out as one of the best. For those equipped with a drone\, capturing Lagoa do Canário from the air reveals an intriguing and visually stunning shape. \nFor sunset\, we head to Mosteiros Beach to capture the last light of the day in a beautiful seascape photography location. \nDay 3 – São Miguel\nOur morning begins at the Santa Iria viewpoint for a captivating sunrise overlooking the north coastline of the Island. \nAfter breakfast we head to Lagoa das Furnas—a spectacular crater lake offering opportunities to photograph mud pools and steaming geothermal features. \nOur journey continues to the Terra Nostra Park\, renowned as one of the most beautiful gardens\, featuring inviting thermal pools. Remember to pack your swimwear\, as temperatures range between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius\, providing a soothing and relaxing experience for the remainder of the day. \nFor lunch we try the famous local dish\, Cozido das Furnas\, uniquely cooked by volcanic steam. Indulge in the sweet muffins look-alike known as bolo lêvedo\, adding a delightful local flavor to our experience. \nIn the afternoon\, we venture to the oldest tea plantation in Europe\, Gorreana Tea plantation. Discover the intricacies of the factory and its scenic surroundings. The unique landscape\, shaped by the vibrant green tea leaves\, offers endless possibilities for captivating photography. \nAs the day unfolds\, we head back to the island’s coastline to capture the mesmerizing colors of the sunset\, concluding the day with the perfect photographic moment. \nDay 4 – São Miguel / Flores\nWe kick off our morning with a visit to one of the most unique locations in São Miguel\, the Vila Franca Islet\, renowned for its unique geological formation. This islet features a volcanic crater that has partially collapsed\, allowing seawater to enter and form a natural circular pool inside the crater. To capture truly distinctive perspectives\, a bird’s eye view from a drone is essential. \nTime to pack because another island is expecting us. \nWelcome to the best-kept secret of Europe—the wild and beautiful Island of Flores. \nAfter settling into our accommodations we have some time to relax before we head out to the impressive basalt columns of Rocha dos Bordões. The variety of compositions you can create at this location is truly remarkable. \nFor the last light of the day we explore the waterfalls of the western part of the island\, overlooking the majestic Ribeira Grande waterfall and Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro. \nDay 5 – Flores\nOur day kicks off with a sunrise at the scenic Baía da Alagoa\, a rocky bay offering a mesmerizing view of rugged basalt sea stacks as our main subject\, with Corvo Island in the background. \nOur next stop is the picturesque town of Santa Cruz and it’s natural basalt swimming pools\, an excellent photographic opportunity to play with long exposure techniques. \nAfter lunch we get together for an editing session before we head out for the last light of the day to one of the most beautiful spots of the Azores. A short hike takes us to the stunning waterfalls of Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro. Nestled at the base of the waterfalls is an astonishing lagoon\, offering a variety of exciting compositions for your photography. \nDay 6 – Flores\nThe weather in the Azores\, especially in Flores\, is notoriously unpredictable\, with rapid changes that may require us to always have a plan B\, so our sixth day starts with the panoramic views of Lagoa Negra (the deepest lagoon in the Azores) and Lagoa Comprida\, or Lagoa Rasa and Lagoa Funda\, offering a fascinating rugged landscape characterized by differences in altitude and color between the two lagoons. \nAfter lunch take some time to rest or jump to the waters of the Atlantic ocean\, our accommodations are right in front of natural swimming pools. \nIn the evening we head north\, where we explore the rugged north coastline of Ponta Delgada\, stopping at viewpoints along the way. The day concludes at the impressive Baía do Além\, offering striking seascapes in its surroundings with Albarnaz lighthouse perched on the edge of the cliffs. Be prepared for the unexpected and embrace the dynamic beauty of Flores. \nDay 7 – Flores / Corvo\nDepending on the conditions of the Atlantic\, our day is dedicated to discovering the Island of Corvo with Carlos Mendes of Extreme Ocidente. Our boat ride takes us through the impressive coastline of Flores\, showcasing jaw-dropping waterfalls and caves. There’s also a high likelihood of encountering dolphins and other whales during our journey. Once in Corvo we’ll get to a short ride to the Caldeira. \nDay 8 – Flores / Terceira\nWe fly to Terceira Island\, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angra do Heroísmo. Get to know this beautiful and charming city\, different patterns and colors from the Portuguese architecture make for very interesting subjects. \nNext in our list are the forests of the Island and the Black Forest\, a unique location with dense vegetation where light struggles to penetrate\, ensuring every photograph is a one-of-a-kind capture\, specially if the fog rolls in. \nFor sunset\, we visit Biscoitos. A picturesque town\, known for its wine-growing region and even more for its beautiful natural pools. The rugged black-colored lava fields sculpted by waves make for really interesting seascapes. \nDay 9 – Terceira\nOur morning starts in the south coast of the Island at Serretinha natural swimming pools\, overlooking Ilhéu das Cabras in the background\, a fantastic spot for the first light of the day. \nNext\, we head out to the most picturesque volcano cone in the Azores\, Pico Dona Joana. With Ilhéu das Cabras in the background has to be one of the most unique perspectives you will see in the Azores. \nShort break before we head out to Praia da Vitória to have lunch and enjoy the view of the beach. Terceira Island is known to have the best food of the Azores\, so we have to make the best out of it. \nOur next stop we reach one of the island’s highlights\, Algar do Carvão\, the only volcano in the world that you can walk inside. While tripods are not allowed\, be sure to bring your fastest and widest lens for this extraordinary experience. \nConsidered one of the most beautiful viewpoint in Portugal\, we reserved the best for the last day. The unique view of the interior of the island\, known as the “patchwork”\, consisting of walls of volcanic stones dividing the farmer fields into square-shaped figures\, makes Serra do Cume the epic spot to photograph the first light of the day. \nDay 10 – Terceira\nEnjoy a final breakfast together\, reminiscing about the incredible moments shared during the tour. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: The 2026 Total Eclipse AND The Golden Circle in Iceland
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nOn August 12th\, 2026 the west-end of Iceland will be treated to a spectacular total solar eclipse\, the rarest of them all\, where the moon perfectly obscures the sun. The path of total shadow (umbra) across the Earth’s surface width of 30-50 miles while the path of partial shadow (penumbra) can reach over 1\,000 miles wide attaining a speed of 1\,600 miles per hour. In this case\, the eclipse will be visible only on the east-end of Iceland for a total of 2 hours and 1 minute. \nOn this unique\, once-in-a-lifetime workshop\, we will be discussing and instructing on how to photograph the total solar eclipse\, then put our practice to the test by photographing the eclipse from an excellent (currently undisclosed*) location. \nIn preparation for the workshop\, we will make sure you are aware of the proper gear you will need to bring\, from filters to cameras and lenses to tripods and more! We will meet online\, via a webinar\, about a month prior\, to discuss more of the specifics and give you a “dry run” of the process. We will maximize our time in the field practicing our “eclipse timing” and spend the day running through the whole setup\, including composition\, camera settings\, when to utilize filters\, how to execute bracketing\, and more so that you are fully prepared during the eclipse. We will also have time available for post-processing\, which is extremely unique to this type of photography. \nAfter the Eclipse\, we will also have the added bonus…of touring Iceland\, where we will tour and photograph “the Golden Circle”. \nThis will include Gullfoss waterfall\, Geysir Geothermal field and Þingvellir National Park\, all of which must-sees for everyone visiting Iceland. Þinvellir was accepted on the World Heritage list for cultural values in 2004 and is part of a fissure zone running through Iceland\, being situated on the tectonic plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. This gives us amazing landscapes to photograph! \nFor many\, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you don’t want to miss!!! \n  \nEclipse Time Schedule (shown in local time) \n• Sunrise will be at approximately 5:08 am \n• Sunset will be at approximately 10:03 pm \n• We will have a total of 16 hours and 55 minutes of daylight \n• C1 (start of eclipse) is at 4:45:25 pm \n• C2 (start of totality) is at 5:46:15 pm \n• C3 (end of totality) is at 5:48:03 pm (a total of 1 minute 48 seconds) \n• C4 (ending) is at 6:46:15 pm \n• Total Duration is 2 hours and 1 minute \n*We will be viewing the eclipse from an un-specified location because eclipse locations can become over-crowded if advertised on the internet. DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our annual adventure to photograph the Wild Horses of Utah! Join us as we search out and photograph one of the largest herds of wild horses in Utah!\nThis is a unique photography workshop right out of “The Old West”! Wild Horses have occupied this mountainous region of Utah since the late 1800’s. The herd is approximately 200 – 250 horses and is the largest herd of wild horses in the west. Mares and stallions average around 800 to 1000 pounds. The colors within the herd are brown\, bay\, paint\, sorrel\, roan\, buckskin\, black\, palomino\, and gray. The variety is endless due to the frequent breeding within the herd. There are many foal\, yearlings and colts that roam with the herd. The horses are in good condition and are frequently seen in the vicinity of the Pony Express Trail in the valley floor. On this workshop\, we will photograph the wild horses as well as other local scenes and wildlife.\nOn this workshop\, you will want to bring a variety of lenses\, from wide-angle to super-telephoto. The distance to your subjects can vary\, as the horses can be right next to you or far in the distance\, but it is certainly recommended to consider bringing a super-telephoto in the range of 500-600mm. DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nHunt’s Photo Adventure leaders Bob Fletcher and Jeff Swinger invite you to a unique Photo Adventure to New Orleans & the Louisiana Bayou. The trip will have a variety of subjects\, from street photography and architecture to wildlife and swampy landscapes!\nThe first two days we will be exploring New Orleans’s French Quarter\, Bourbon Street\, the Garden District\, and the Gothic above-ground cemetery that you have seen so often on television and in movies. You will be photographing architecture and street performers\, riding on a historic streetcar\, and enjoying the warm ambiance of New Orleans. \nThe rest of the days\, prepare yourself for an adventure through the swamps and bayous of Louisiana. You will embark on your journey in a custom-built vessel with a covered roof to keep you dry and cool. Tours are narrated by Capt. Billy Gaston\, who was born and raised in the Bayou. Toilet facilities are available on board the boat with special attention given to seniors and the physically challenged. \nThe cypress swamps of Louisiana are beautifully scenic\, but can be difficult to photograph without a boat to access most of the photogenic areas and an experienced guide to get you there. Photographing out of boats\, you will be shooting mostly handheld.  Wildlife like egrets\, herons\, turtles\, snakes\, owls\, and alligators can be common sightings in the swamp. You will want to bring a variety of focal lengths from wide angle to telephoto to get the most out of your trip. Early November to mid-December is the best time to be in the swamps. Wildlife is preparing for winter and is active and abundant. The cypress trees can take on a rusty appearance and fog can be common in the mornings. \n \nItinerary\nThis photography workshop begins in New Orleans\, where we’ll immerse ourselves in the energy and character of the French Quarter. From historic streets and iconic architecture to street performers and classic New Orleans flavors\, the city provides endless opportunities for storytelling and candid photography\, both day and night. We’ll explore at a relaxed pace\, focusing on capturing the spirit and visual rhythm of the Quarter. \n  \nMidway through the trip\, we head south to Morgan City and into the heart of Louisiana’s bayou country. Here\, the focus shifts to wildlife and landscape photography as we explore winding waterways by boat with a local Cajun guide. Cypress trees\, moss-draped swamps\, and native wildlife—including alligators and birdlife—create a completely different visual experience. Sunrise and afternoon sessions allow us to work in the best light\, with time built in for image review and post-processing discussions. One day includes a catered Southern Low Country shrimp boil lunch in the bayou\, paired with live local musicians for entertainment—an authentic Cajun experience between shooting sessions. DESCRIPTION:Photographing Yellowstone National Park during the winter is a memorable and rewarding experience for every photographer. January\, with its snow and cold temperatures\, transforms America’s first national park into a wondrous land full of unique photographic opportunities for wildlife and landscapes.  During the week\, we will explore the park in two parts.  Our goal is to photograph species such as Wolves\, Bison\, Coyotes\, Fox\, Elk\, Eagles\, Antelopes\, Deer\, and more.  The first half of the trip will be spent exploring the northern section of the park. DESCRIPTION:Photographing Yellowstone National Park during the winter is a memorable and rewarding experience for every photographer. February\, with its snow and cold temperatures\, transforms America’s first national park into a wondrous land full of unique photographic opportunities for wildlife and landscapes.  During the week\, we will explore ONLY the closed interior of the park by snow coach.  Each day\, we will depart from our hotel in West Yellowstone\, Montana\, and travel to the interior\, along Hayden Valley\, the Madison and Firehole Rivers\, and other locations in search of the best wildlife and landscapes the interior has to offer.
