DESCRIPTION:Do you have a budding photographer that you want to encourage? Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a 6-session photography program aimed at strengthening their interest\, improving their photography\, and getting them truly excited about being the artist\, the creator\, and the family photographer! \nOver the course of the sessions\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. In every session we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers taking pictures as much as possible! At the end of each session\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! Please note: This course is geared towards students aged 11-16 years old. Our age requirement is general and a certain maturity level is helpful.  Younger students with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. We generally recommend a DSLR or mirrorless camera\, but if you’re unsure\, feel free to contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com \nThis will be a fun program with experienced instruction. To learn how to do that\, check out our Lightroom File Management and Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic Sessions! \nAdobe Lightroom is an ever-changing and ever-expanding program. As such\, it can be hard to keep up with many of the changes in the program that make processing your images easier\, more efficient\, and with better adjustment capabilities! \nAfter taking the basic “Editing in Lightroom Classic” sessions\, our “Intermediate Editing in Lightroom Classic” is the obvious next step. In this course we will reinforce what we learned in the basic class\, but pepper in more advanced capabilities\, including newer editing capabilities. Specifically\, we will cover: \n\nAI Masking and Advanced Masking Techniques\n\nSky\, Subject\, and Background Masking\nObject Masking\nAdding into Existing Masking\nColor/Luminance Range Masking\n\n\nDistraction Removal\nDenoise and Super Resolution\n\nProfiles\n\n\nRGB Tone Curve\n\nPerspective Correction\n\nAnd more! \nThis is a 2-Part class. We encourage testing out what you’ve learned in between sessions to maximize your experience! \n \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now.This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. DESCRIPTION:Developed by photographers\, for photographers\, Adobe Lightroom provides amateur enthusiast and photographers with the necessary tools for basic image management and high-level image post-production.\nThis course focuses on how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover:\n•Brief Computer File Management\n•Importance of Keywords\n•Attributes– flagging\, rating\, color coding\n•Searching metadata to find images\n•And more!\nLightroom is an extremely robust and important manager of files\, and knowing how to utilize it is paramount to being able to find and edit your images!\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\nYou Are Being Recorded (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: The 2026 Total Eclipse AND The Golden Circle in Iceland
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nOn August 12th\, 2026 the west-end of Iceland will be treated to a spectacular total solar eclipse\, the rarest of them all\, where the moon perfectly obscures the sun. The path of total shadow (umbra) across the Earth’s surface width of 30-50 miles while the path of partial shadow (penumbra) can reach over 1\,000 miles wide attaining a speed of 1\,600 miles per hour. In this case\, the eclipse will be visible only on the east-end of Iceland for a total of 2 hours and 1 minute. \nOn this unique\, once-in-a-lifetime workshop\, we will be discussing and instructing on how to photograph the total solar eclipse\, then put our practice to the test by photographing the eclipse from an excellent (currently undisclosed*) location. \nIn preparation for the workshop\, we will make sure you are aware of the proper gear you will need to bring\, from filters to cameras and lenses to tripods and more! We will meet online\, via a webinar\, about a month prior\, to discuss more of the specifics and give you a “dry run” of the process. We will maximize our time in the field practicing our “eclipse timing” and spend the day running through the whole setup\, including composition\, camera settings\, when to utilize filters\, how to execute bracketing\, and more so that you are fully prepared during the eclipse. We will also have time available for post-processing\, which is extremely unique to this type of photography. \nAfter the Eclipse\, we will also have the added bonus…of touring Iceland\, where we will tour and photograph “the Golden Circle”. \nThis will include Gullfoss waterfall\, Geysir Geothermal field and Þingvellir National Park\, all of which must-sees for everyone visiting Iceland. Þinvellir was accepted on the World Heritage list for cultural values in 2004 and is part of a fissure zone running through Iceland\, being situated on the tectonic plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. This gives us amazing landscapes to photograph! \nFor many\, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you don’t want to miss!!! \n  \nEclipse Time Schedule (shown in local time) \n• Sunrise will be at approximately 5:08 am \n• Sunset will be at approximately 10:03 pm \n• We will have a total of 16 hours and 55 minutes of daylight \n• C1 (start of eclipse) is at 4:45:25 pm \n• C2 (start of totality) is at 5:46:15 pm \n• C3 (end of totality) is at 5:48:03 pm (a total of 1 minute 48 seconds) \n• C4 (ending) is at 6:46:15 pm \n• Total Duration is 2 hours and 1 minute \n*We will be viewing the eclipse from an un-specified location because eclipse locations can become over-crowded if advertised on the internet. DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture and begin to discuss a variety of masking techniques. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. In this class\, you’ll learn how to shape the “look” of your images by using light\, shadow\, color\, and composition as storytelling tools. We’ll explore how creative choices influence mood\, energy\, and emotion—helping you capture not just what a subject looks like\, but what it feels like. \nIn Intermediate Photography – Getting the Look\, we’ll go beyond exposure and focus on crafting photographs with intention. Through hands-on exercises\, we’ll explore how to use color theory\, light and shadow\, and compositional techniques to enhance storytelling and create photographs with mood and impact. DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nThe Hunt’s Photo Adventure: Navajo Nation is a six-day immersive workshop based in Mexican Hat\, Utah\, designed to explore the dramatic landscapes of the Navajo Nation and surrounding regions. \nThis workshop is intentionally scheduled around the rare Mitten Shadow event in Monument Valley\, which occurs only twice a year when the sun aligns precisely to cast a dramatic\, defined shadow across the iconic Mitten formations. This natural phenomenon serves as a centerpiece of the workshop and a key photographic objective. \nUsing Mexican Hat as our base\, we’ll access a diverse range of locations including Monument Valley\, Valley of the Gods\, Goosenecks State Park\, Moki Dugway\, and surrounding backcountry areas. The workshop is structured around the best available light\, with sunrise and sunset sessions planned in key locations and a dedicated night photography experience under dark skies. \nA highlight of this workshop is special access with Navajo guides\, including a dedicated night sky astrophotography session on Navajo land during a new moon for the darkest skies possible\, as well as a guided sunrise photography experience in Monument Valley\, providing unique access and perspective in one of the most iconic landscapes in the world. \nWhile a structured itinerary is provided\, this workshop is intentionally flexible. We will be staying at the San Juan Inn (435-683-2220). \nRecommended gear:\nCamera\, memory cards\, batteries\nWide angle\, standard\, telephoto and super-telephoto lenses (If you are looking for a lens to rent\, you can rent it from us at rentals.huntsphoto.com!)\nTripod\nCable release\nPolarizers and Neutral Density filters if you have them \nTravel information \nDue to travel logistics and the importance of a timely group departure\, participants are strongly encouraged to arrive in Salt Lake City (SLC)\, preferably on September 8th\, to ensure an on-time group pickup at 8 AM on the morning of September 9th and to help mitigate potential travel delays. \nDeparture flights from Salt Lake City (SLC) should be scheduled for the evening of September 15th or later\, allowing ample time for the return drive from Mexican Hat and providing flexibility in case of weather or travel delays. \nHotel information\nSLC Airport Hotels are very convenient for group pickup. The San Juan Inn (435.683.2220)\, Mexican Hat\, Utah\, will serve as our base for the duration of the workshop. Hunt’s Photo has reserved a block of rooms for participants. Each attendee is responsible for calling the hotel directly to reserve and pay for their room. Be sure to mention “Hunt’s Photo Group” when booking. \nAbout Weather \nWeather can range from a low of 45°  at night to a high of 70° F during the day. There will be a slight chance of rain during our workshop. \nImportant things to keep in mind:\n•Bring clothing suited for a variety of temperatures\, from cold mornings to warm afternoons. Also be prepared for potential rain and for changing weather. \nPayments\nA deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 45-days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
