DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education on a beautiful photo walk photographing plants and flowers with an emphasis on macro photography. During this walk\, we will work on use of color\, close up/macro photography\, use of tripods\, depth of field\, exposure and use of reflectors/diffusers.\nOn this walk\, we will be photographing during Stevens-Coolidge’s annual Bloomfest. We will have exclusive access at a time when normal visitors will not be on the grounds\, allowing us to spend time with our compositions! This is a very unique and fun workshop- join us!\nThe Stevens-Coolidge Place is a unique estate in North Andover that benefits from a beautiful indoor space\, but is also quite famous for beautifully maintained grounds that include a rose garden\, greenhouse\, and more. We will discuss Exposure (how light works with the camera)\, the Big Three Settings (Aperture\, Shutter Speed\, & ISO)\, how they affect your picture and how to set them\, and what mode to set it to on your camera! We’ll discuss changing depth-of-field (controlling what?s in focus in the background\, stopping or blurring the action in your scene\, and many other basic picture-taking techniques. We recommend taking this class prior to Digital Photography Basics 2\, which is the next logical step!\nJoin us to start learning about Digital Photography!\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic\, Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. This is the class that is going to give you insight into the basic settings and why to set them; how to take full advantage of the best qualities of your camera\, and leaves a lot of the higher-end technical stuff out of the picture.\nIn this jam-packed course\, we?ll cover basic camera settings (some of which you?re used to from still photography); basic menu settings such as frame rates\, resolution\, and codecs; framing\, composition\, and cinematography basics. The goal of this course is to send you on your way much more confident about how to set up your next video.\nA clear difference:?This class is not necessarily geared toward someone that is looking to branch into filmmaking (though it couldn?t hurt). This class is geared towards the photographer that wants to make casual videos. If you are a still photographer looking to branch into video to enhance your portfolio\, our Intro to Filmmaking class is a more advanced and challenging class that will dig deeper into many of these concepts. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Wild Horses in Utah
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our second time traveling to photograph the Wild Horses of Utah! Join us for four days of in-field photography and instruction as we search out and photograph one of the herds of wild horses in Utah!\nThis is a unique photography workshop right out of ?The Old West?! Wild Horses have occupied this mountainous region of Utah since the late 1800?s. The herd is approximately 200 ? 250 horses and is the largest herd of wild horses in the west. Mares and stallions average around 800 to 1000 pounds. The colors within the herd are brown\, bay\, paint\, sorrel\, roan\, buckskin\, black\, palomino\, and gray. The variety is endless due to the frequent breeding within the herd. There are many foal\, yearlings and colts that roam with the herd. The horses are in good condition and are frequently seen in the vicinity of the Pony Express Trail in the valley floor. On this workshop\, we will photograph the wild horses as well as other local scenes and wildlife.\nOn this workshop\, you will want to bring a variety of lenses\, from wide-angle to super-telephoto. The distance to your subjects can vary\, as the horses can be right next to you or far in the distance\, but it is certainly recommended to consider bringing a super-telephoto in the range of 500-600mm. Please keep in mind that you can always rent lenses from?Hunt’s Rentals?and at a decent cost!\nWe will maximize our time in the field shooting a multitude of subjects as well as incorporating classroom instruction\, critiques\, and photographic assignments each day.\nWhat?s included:\n? DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. Spinning wool to create sparks is a fun (and fairly easy) exercise\, but requires a bit of explanation and some safety tips. Hunt’s Photo\, Manchester\n Image Review: Wednesday April 13th\, 7pm ??Online!\nLensbaby lenses are a unique series of lenses\, available for most camera systems that give a variety of looks and effects. From swirling bokeh to dramatic vignettes\, velvety glows to swirly blurs\, and often with a bright sharp center\, these lenses present a unique style for the user experience.\nLensbaby lenses are also not always the easiest to use or understand and require a lot of practice and fine-tuning. In this workshop\, we will be working exclusively with Lensbaby to create a variety of images\, from macro and still life and beyond.\nWe will begin with a demo discussing using Lensbaby\, how to appropriately use the lenses\, creating setups\, and then dive right into individuals photographing their own setups. We will follow up the workshop with an image review the next week to discuss the merits (and pitfalls) in photographing with Lensbaby.\nThis will be an excellent way to workshop your lens and is recommended for anyone that has struggled with or has questions on Lensbaby!

With a little bit of know-how\, you can create excellent portraits ANYWHERE using your speedlight!\nIn this Creating Portraits with Speedlights Session\, we’ll discuss\, demonstrate\, and then practice with models how to set up a great portrait anywhere using the simplest of tools and methods. In this workshop\, we will specifically be working with speedlights/flash off the camera using triggers.\nMost importantly\, attendees will be guiding the setup (and take down) of all the gear. DESCRIPTION:The coast of Maine is distinctive\, beautiful\, and highly photogenic. The many small towns of Mid Coast Maine are home to a dramatic shoreline\, quaint fishing harbors\, and dramatic lighthouses. Over the course of this short weekend workshop\, we will photograph Pemaquid Point Lighthouse at sunset and other locations along the coast. We will also photograph the Wiscasset Steam Railway for one of its steam train events.\nEach location we will photograph makes for a dynamic destination that will challenge photographers of every skill level.

DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Thursday April 7th\, 7-8pm ? Online! \nPrinted Image Review: Thursday April 21st\, 6-8pm ? In our Hunt’s Melrose store or Online! \nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic!\nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing on Textured Papers\nTextured papers often get the raw deal in the grand scheme of printing. After all\, they are matte papers–meaning they have no reflectivity– and those tend not to be as popular as the “shiny” gloss papers. But if you like Fine-Art Printing\, Textured Matte papers create a very unique look to your print. Even the names of some of these papers–William Turner\, Albrect Durer\, German Etching– recall some of the past masters of fine art! These papers exude a 3-dimensionality through their texture and\, given the proper image and effective processing\, can create an amazing fine-art print.\nIn this session\, we will spend our time looking at what sorts of images work best on textured papers\, how to process images for the best results\, and what different surfaces are available. We’ll also discuss color management through the process of editing and also look at best practices when working with monochrome.  Our instructional online presentation will be held on April 7th from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on April 21st from 6-8pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive TWO prints on fine art textured paper up to 13×19″. (Please note: The cost of a 13×19″ print on fine art textured paper is $40\, and you get two in this class!) If you would like prints on additional textured papers\, we are happy to do that for the additional charge.\nThe Printed Vision classes are an excellent opportunity to learn more about not only about printing\, but also the processing of images at a much more focused level. Recommended for everyone: Beginners to Advanced Photographers. Bottom Line: Great class for confused beginners.?\n?Everything about this class was excellent. The instructors were patient and took time to answer every question thoroughly and we were given ample time to try out the techniques we were being shown. All in all\, a wonderful experience.?\n?Very much liked the instructors- knowledgeable\, entertaining\, encouraging\, not judgmental.
