For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the “Priority Modes” (Ex. Aperture Priority) because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just one solution. For some photographers\, there is only the manual mode. But why is it important to shoot in the Manual mode? Are there reasons to use manual vs. Aperture priority and vice-versa? How can we maximize usability?\nWhile our Beginner class scratches the surface of these functions\, this Beyond the Basics class will cover in-depth:\n?Your Camera?s Light Meter and how it works\n?Use of Aperture Priority vs. Manual modes\n?Histograms\n?Photographing in RAW vs. Jpeg\nWe will also give an assignment to do outside of class in order to help strengthen your photographic abilities!\nUnderstanding the full-functionality of your camera is a necessity to improving your flexibility when photographing in a variety of situations. The Roger Williams Park is a massive area of greenery and beauty in Providence with a Rose Garden\, Japanese Garden\, beautifully constructed buildings\, such as the gazebo\, peaceful waterways\, quaint bridges\, and so much more! There is so much to photograph there and a wonderful variety of subject matter\, including textures\, angles\, and compositions that can lead to some truly excellent photographs. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Filter Workshop: Using Filters in the Field with Waterfalls
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a morning of learning what filters we want to use in photography\, how to use them\, and then go out into the field to get some hands-on practice!\nWe will begin in our Hunt’s Photo Manchester classroom to learn about filters\, how to use them properly\, how to attach them to the camera\, and\, if applicable\, purchase filters. We will then travel ~22 minutes to our waterfall location to practice long exposures. (Please note: Our location is TBA. To minimize confusion\, we will let you know in the confirmation email after purchase.) There are many small falls here – wide angle\, normal zoom\, and telephoto are all recommended. UV\, Circular Polarizer (CPL)\, and Neutral Density (ND) filters are all recommended. Students may choose to shoot from the banks of the river\, but the best shots will happen by walking along some rocks. Waterproof boots are your friend!\nWhether you’ve used filters and still have questions\, you’ve never used filters\, or you need a little inspiration\, this is a great opportunity to have some fun with filters!

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. DESCRIPTION:The time has come to tame digital printing! With the low price of excellent quality digital printers\, what was once an elite craft is now much more manageable for the average photographer. This course briefly covers the basics questions of printing\, including editing suggestions\, color management tools and settings\, paper styles and finishes\, printing recommendations\, and troubleshooting on how to avoid those nasty pitfalls that can occur along the way. Whether you use Canon\, Epson or HP\, the concepts in this course remain the same.\nThis class also focuses on printing using Lightroom specifically. Being able to print from Lightroom allows you to complete all of your tasks specifically in one rather than multiple programs. Even if you do not own or use Lightroom\, the concepts within this class are fairly global and these concepts can be translated to other programs. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Explore Iceland Photo Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Adventures for another trip to the “Land of Fire and Ice”\, home to some of Europe’s largest glaciers and most active volcanoes\, Iceland! On this workshop\, we will journey to Iceland leading into the winter months for a very exclusive and different look at the countryside.\nIceland is a unique place\, with frozen waterfalls\, beautiful ice caves\, glaciers & frozen lagoons\, and of course the fantastic Northern Lights ? Aurora Borealis. We will travel from Reykjavik\, visit the favorite locations of South Coast of Iceland\, the M?vatn area in the North and explore lesser known areas as we head into the winter season.  \nYour trip includes:\n 	? All accommodations with private bathrooms during the workshop\n 	? All meals\, except dinner on the last night.\n 	? Guiding by Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski & an Icelandic Pro Photographer\n 	? Image Critique & Post Processing session\n 	? Super Truck transportation ? Flybus transfer from Int. Items of Personal nature \n\nYour passport will be required on this workshop.\nA Little Bit About the Workshop:\nThe Workshop will begin in Reykjavik with a group dinner on the first evening.\nTransportation upon Arrival:?We include Flybus vouchers from Keflavik Airport & back after the workshop. Upgrade to a private airport pick up or drop off is available. We use our specially modified 4?4 Super Truck for transportation in our Iceland Workshops.\nDays One and Eleven are dedicated to arrival and departure\, so attendees can schedule their flights accordingly on those days (October 22nd and November 1st).  We generally recommend arriving one day prior to the workshop to get accustom to the time change.\nAccommodations:?Accommodation in double occupancy for ten nights at hotels\, single room is available upon request (single supplement- add $1000). We stay at the various hotels & guesthouses\, but as close as possible to our photography locations. The workshop concludes when we check into our last hotel night in Reykjavik ? Participants will then have time to visit Reykjavik or rest for early flights.\nAdditional Accommodations: If attendees wish to arrive earlier\, we can arrange bookings for extra nights at the same hotel. Price per night per room will be approximately $250 USD.\nSkill Sets:?All Levels of Photographers are Welcome. While this is a photography workshop\, non-photographers may also register\, but please note that we will emphasize photographing on the workshop.\nPhysical Ability:?The tour is open to all ability levels. While this is not a hiking tour\, we will be as active as conditions allow and make short walks and potentially hike up small 100-200 meter hills.\nMisc:?The Workshop includes Photographic tutoring and guidance by our Hunt’s Photo Education team as well as a pro landscape photographer from Iceland. We will provide you with a packing list for the tour\, with recommended equipment and clothing. Safety gear provided when needed\, such as helmets and crampons.\nA Note About Payments and Deposits:?A non-refundable deposit of $1\,000 is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 90-days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance. \nItinerary\nThis is a guideline for the workshop\, but we may need to be flexible and adjust to the weather and conditions. If places are not accessible\, unsafe\, or closed they will be excluded. Natural occurrences such as the northern lights can?t be guaranteed\, since weather and conditions dictate them. As always when traveling in Iceland we need to be mindful of nature\, follow dedicated paths and other safety instructions from guides. \nDay 1- Arrival in Reykjav?k\nArrive in Iceland and check into your hotel in Reykjavik at 3 pm. A welcome dinner for the group will around in the evening. We?ll go over the itinerary and prepare for our adventure in Iceland\, as well as get to know each other. We meet at 6 pm in the lobby at our hotel in Reykjavik and go out for dinner very close by.\nHotel: Hotel Klettur \nDay 2- Thingvellir National Park & V?k area\n?ingvellir National park\, Almannagj? fault\, and other photography opportunities. Drive to V?k\, seascapes\, Dyrholaey cliffs\, stopping at famous waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss. Northern lights if possible.\nHotel: Hotel Vik i Myrdal \nDay 3 & 4- South Coast\, Seascapes & Waterfalls\nSouth Coast including V?k\, Black beach\, Reynisdrangar sea stacks\, Dyrh?laey sea arches\, and more. Vatnaj?kull glacier national park\, Glacier Lagoon\, Diamond beach\, ice cave\, crawling glaciers and northern lights when possible.\nHotel: Smyrlabjorg Hotel for 2 nights \nDay 5- East Fjords of Iceland\nHeinabergsl?n\, Stokksnes Vestrahorn & Eystrahorn\, We?ll stop in ample locations to photograph sea stacks\, the winding coastal roads\, and the cascading streams down the steep terraced mountains and other lesser known locations in the area.\nHotel: Hotel Framtid \nDay 6\, 7 & 8- M?vatn area\nWe head north. M?vatn\, J?kuls?rglj?fur canyon\, geothermal steam vents\, volcanic formations\, and field craters. Visit to M?vatn nature baths (optional if the group is interested). A trio of waterfalls that are often called ?The Majestic Waterfalls?. Dettifosswe\, Aldeyjarfoss and Go?afoss.\nImage review is often done at M?vatn\, depending on conditions\nHotel: Sel hotel Myvatn for 3 nights \nDay 9- Skagafj?r?ur & Waterfalls\nWe head west along the northern coastline and travel towards Reykjavik. Along the way\, we will stop at some lesser-known locations and spend the night in Northwest Iceland.\nHotel: Hotel Laugarbakki \nDay 10- Hv?tserkur\, Borgarfj?r?ur\, Reykjav?k\nWe begin the day with sunrise at the Hv?tserkur seascape\, we continue towards Reykjavik and stop at a few waterfalls along the way and perhaps some Icelandic horses if we get lucky.\nWe arrive back in Reykjavik late in the afternoon.\nThe guide takes the group to get a COVID-19 test. (If that?s still necessary for return) and then brings the group back to the hotel in Reyjavik were to workshop concludes.\nPeople then have one night in Reykjavik for some private time\, dinner\, packing\, or to rest after\ntheir time on the road.\nHotel: Hotel Klettur  \nDay 11- Departure

SUMMARY:Hunt's Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop II: A Nightmare on Main St
DESCRIPTION:It’s the scariest time of the year. No\, we’re not talking about tax season– It’s Halloween! Join us for our annual Horror Lighting Portrait Workshop! In this workshop\, we will create portraits utilizing a style of lighting reminiscent to that used in Horror films!\nIn this workshop\, we will begin by discussing the style of Horror Lighting\, using examples from the history of horror\, from classic 1930s Universal horror films to 1980s slasher to more modern\, experimental techniques. Instructor Paul Nelson has spent painstaking hours and buckets of popcorn to research the intricacies of horror\, and\, believe it or not\, it’s not all just “monster lighting”. We will then photograph both inside and (if weather allows) outside to both recreate and create new in-the-style-of scenes to photograph. We will utilize both our Hunt’s Photo Melrose classrooms as well as locations in the surrounding area to great affect. We’ll discuss how to light and what to use\, create shadows and textures\, use studio space and real-life locations\, work with models and more!\nIn this workshop\, we will cover:\n? How to compose the lighting in a scene\, including how and when to use flash vs LED\n??Flash and LED lighting (important enough to write it on here twice)\n??Using lighting indoor or outside\n??Creating dynamic shadows and effects in your work with lighting\, as well as other light modification\n? How to work with (posing and directing) models to achieve a desired look\n? Developing a creative concept in portraits\, not only using lighting and posing\, but also costumes\, hair\, and make-up\nYou do not need to own a flash or lighting to attend this workshop. Jump right in for this day-long in-depth learning experience with Heather Larkin and SIGMA lenses where we will be working with ballet dancers\, both at rest and in action. In this deep dive masterclass\, you’ll learn what to look for in a good dance photo. Then\, you?ll have the opportunity to take photos under the same conditions. Our patient and entertaining instructors will cover all the basics in this hands-on class\, including changing depth-of-field (controlling what?s in focus in the background)\, stopping or blurring the action in your scene\, and many other basic picture-taking techniques.\nOur two guarantees:\n?You will learn a lot!\n?You will have a fun time doing it!\nSome character references: \n\n?I was impressed with how well the class was run\, the amount of material covered so thoroughly and how all different camera types were incorporated without it causing issues. I was really impressed with the whole experience. Great instructors!!?\n?Everything was condensed and taught at a basic level which helped with the confusion I had before coming to class. Bottom Line: Great class for confused beginners.?\n?Everything about this class was excellent. The instructors were patient and took time to answer every question thoroughly and we were given ample time to try out the techniques we were being shown. All in all\, a wonderful experience.?\n?Very much liked the instructors- knowledgeable\, entertaining\, encouraging\, not judgmental. Loved the casual nature of the class and opportunity for one-on-one discussions. Excellent for me\, as a novice.?
