We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “A Sense of the Season WITHOUT foliage”. Fall in New England is a spectacular and inspiring season.  Colors abound everywhere as tree foliage turn from green to brilliant yellows\, orange\, and red.  However\, there is much more to Fall in New England than colorful foliage.  Explore other aspects of the season without foliage. \nWe will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. I was really impressed with the whole experience. Great instructors!!?\n?Everything was condensed and taught at a basic level which helped with the confusion I had before coming to class. Bottom Line: Great class for confused beginners.?\n?Everything about this class was excellent. The instructors were patient and took time to answer every question thoroughly and we were given ample time to try out the techniques we were being shown. All in all\, a wonderful experience.?\n?Very much liked the instructors- knowledgeable\, entertaining\, encouraging\, not judgmental. Loved the casual nature of the class and opportunity for one-on-one discussions. Excellent for me\, as a novice.?

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nLandscape Photography\nLandscape photography is one of the most easily accessible genres of photography and is enjoyed by many. What does it take to create a landscape image that stands out? Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we go beyond “F8 and be there” and dive deep into the technical\, artistic\, and practical aspects of landscape photography.\nIn week one\, we’ll cover what it takes to plan and the settings necessary for your best shots. We’ll also talk about the gear all landscape photographers should have in their bags and what to do when the weather just won’t cooperate. In week two\, we’ll edit landscape images from start to finish using Adobe Lightroom Classic. By week three\, we’ll discuss composition\, dynamic range\, depth of field\, and focus. We’ll also discuss when to shoot in color and when to shoot in black and white. In our last week\, we’ll cover shooting and editing HDR images and panorama images in Adobe Lightroom Classic. We’ll also cover shooting landscapes at night as well as astrolandscapes. Each week\, Emily will give an assignment to hone your new skills and each student will receive individualized critiques. DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nThe mountainous region of northwest Scotland\, known as the Scottish Highlands\, is a landscape photographer’s delight. The Highlands\, created centuries ago by fire and ice\, are an inspiring mix of dramatic mountains\, moody lakes\, and dynamic light. The scenery here is simply stunning. Our journey through the Highlands will also take us through quaint villages\, ancient castles\, renowned distilleries\, and more. By design\, we will explore the rugged landscapes of the Highlands while also enjoying the best of Scotland’s proud culture too. Undoubtedly\, the Scottish Highlands will ignite your passion for adventure and creativity.  \nGeneral Itinerary \nAttendees should look for an overnight flight to Edinburgh on Oct 30th\, arriving Oct 1st. DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nHunt’s Photo Adventure leaders Bob Fletcher and Jeff Swinger invite you to a unique Photo Adventure to New Orleans & the Louisiana Bayou. The trip will have a variety of subjects\, from street photography and architecture to wildlife and swampy landscapes! \nDuring the first two days\, we will explore the French Quarter\, Bourbon Street\, the Garden District\, and the Gothic above-ground cemetery that you have seen so often on television and in movies. We will photograph architecture and street performers\, ride on an historic streetcar\, and enjoy the warm ambiance of New Orleans. \nFor the remaining days\, prepare yourself for an adventure through the swamps and bayous of Louisiana! You will embark on your journey in a custom-built vessel with a covered roof to keep you dry and cool. Tours are narrated by Capt. Billy Gaston–born and raised in the Bayou. SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Lighting on Location featuring Dia De Los Muertos
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be showing how to light on location using natural light and supplemental light\, whether it’s flash or LED! We will utilize the natural environment of our location to work into our portraits\, and then\, when necessary\, use lights to make it something spectacular. This workshop is a great opportunity for both beginner and intermediate photographers\, as we’ll build examples of where to place subjects\, when to use lighting\, and what lighting we think works best for that environment. (Lighting will be provided!) \nOur workshop will take place at the Western Ave Studios in Lowell\, which has many unique indoor and outdoor elements that will work well for our portraits. We will also be featuring a theme– Dia De Los Muertos–where our models will be made up and dressed in the style shown here. Make-up will be provided by @lisa_la_colorista; wardrobe TBD!\nFor gear\, we will be using both Westcott (FJ200\, FJ400\, FJ800) strobes/flashes as well as Westcott diffusers as well as a mix of Nanlite and Aputure LED lights\, all of which are excellent brands for creating stunning portraits.\nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process\, from naturally lighting a subject\, to how to properly expose while using lighting\, to how to actually use the lights themselves!\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. In the summer of 2021\, Jonathan collaborated with renowned photographer Mary Beth Meehan to produce Witness\, an exhibition that explores the life and times of his late grandmother\, Annye Raye Pitts. In December 2022\, his was one of five portraits selected for the City of Providence’s “Who We Are Now?” public art banner project.\nA Yale graduate\, Jonathan is the Creative Director at Curiosity Store in Jamestown\, Rhode Island and has\, since 2010\, been the Artistic Director of Pawtucket\, RI’s Mixed Magic Theatre.
