SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Piers Park\, East Boston
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at Piers Park in East Boston. During the walk\, we will discuss shooting in lower light with an emphasis on night photography. This will include assistance with exposure\, composition\, focusing\, use of tripods\, and a myriad of other settings and concepts!\nMuch of East Boston consists of dense residential neighborhoods\, in part as a carryover from the area?s heavy influx of immigration at the turn of the previous century\, and in part to its proximity to downtown Boston. Piers Park was developed in the mid-1990s as a contrast to this\, offering beautiful landscaping\, natural vegetation\, and stunning views of downtown Boston. On this walk\, we will photograph the grounds of Piers Park and the skyline during blue hour\, sunset\, and civil twilight. Photographers of all levels are welcome!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: A Day at Olde Sturbridge Village
DESCRIPTION:Located an hour west of Boston\, Sturbridge Village is a proud replication of an 18th century New England town. Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era.\nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will discuss how to work with subjects to create a story\, and also work on settings to fine-tune focus and exposure! This Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer!\nJoin us for a great experience!\nPlease note: The cost of your ticket does NOT include the cost of your entrance into Olde Sturbridge Village\, which can be purchased here: https://www.osv.org/plan-your-visit/

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture and begin to discuss a variety of masking techniques. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Sunset on the Charles River Esplanade
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk featuring sunset along the Charles River Esplanade.\nThe Charles River Esplanade has experienced immense changes over the past 100 years to what we see today. Originally “The Embankment”\, the area expanded in the first half of the 20th century to include boat landings\, playgrounds\, trees and plant life\, and the Hatch Memorial Shell. In the second half of the 20th century\, Storrow Drive and the Dr. Paul Dudley White Bike Path–an 18-mile stretch– were added.\nPhotography will start at the Storrow Lagoon location working our way along the Charles River and back towards the Longfellow Bridge. We will explore scenes and compositions as we go making use of the golden hour light until ending at our final location\, a dusk shot of the city of Boston and the Longfellow Bridge! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Water Drops (and more!)
DESCRIPTION:Water Drop Photography is a style wherein one drops a liquid into another liquid and photographs it in a way that emphasizes the “unseeable”–little droplets\, the corona of the drop\, and more. This style uses high speed flash in order to stop the action instead of fast shutter speed. It is a simple technique that can be achieved with even the most rudimentary gear\, but it can produce infinitely different results. Just like snowflakes\, you’ll never be able to duplicate a water drop.\nIn this workshop\, we will begin with a live demo describing the gear\, settings\, set-up\, and execution of water drop photography. We’ll then dive right in\, beginning simply and then moving on to not just water droplets\, but also other items! Photographers of all skill levels are welcome\, but one should come with patience!\nTwo important notes: We will be using flash in this workshop. You do not need to own a flash\, and we may use only what we have anyway\, but you are welcome to bring one if you have one in order to understand how to replicate it on your own. Also\, to minimize on gear and space\, we will be working in groups of two.

SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Surface Tension- Printing on Textured Papers (Print Review)
DESCRIPTION:About The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic!\nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing on Textured Papers\nTextured papers often get the raw deal in the grand scheme of printing. After all\, they are matte papers–meaning they have no reflectivity– and those tend not to be as popular as the “shiny” gloss papers. But if you like Fine-Art Printing\, Textured Matte papers create a very unique look to your print. Even the names of some of these papers–William Turner\, Albrect Durer\, German Etching– recall some of the past masters of fine art! These papers exude a 3-dimensionality through their texture and\, given the proper image and effective processing\, can create an amazing fine-art print.\nIn this session\, we will spend our time looking at what sorts of images work best on textured papers\, how to process images for the best results\, and what different surfaces are available. We’ll also discuss color management through the process of editing and also look at best practices when working with monochrome. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: The Ultimate Grizzly Bear Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Alaska! Our base camp will be Jacques Adventure Lodge located on the north shore of Lake Iliamna and nestled between Katmai National Park\, Lake Clark National Park\, and Bristol Bay. Jerry Jacques\, a lifelong Alaskan and renowned bush pilot\, will be our host. His lodge is surrounded by 18 million acres of wilderness that is accessible only by bush plane. This remote region is home to Alaska?s highest concentration of coastal grizzly bears\, other wildlife\, and stunning wilderness.\nEach day\, bush planes will take us in search of our primary goal: Grizzly bears in their natural\, wild habitat. During our days we may also encounter wolf\, moose\, Dall sheep\, and eagles in the remote regions of The Katmai Coast\, Lake Clark\, and Brooks Falls. In addition to wildlife there are some landscape opportunities for us to enjoy as well. At night we will enjoy the comforts of the Lodge\, fantastic food\, photography discussion\, and image reviews. This unique workshop is indeed an adventure.\nWe guarantee that you will photograph Grizzly Bears!\nJerry stands behind this guarantee. With great attention to safety\, Jerry and his guides and reliable transportation will get us where we need to be. Jacques Wilderness Lodge has boats\, two sea/float planes\, and three tundra tire equipped planes as well as years of experience guiding visitors in this remote wilderness. As amateur photographers themselves\, the guides will locate bears and other wildlife\, but also get you into the proper position for light and background. Helping you capture fantastic images of wildlife is what Jacques Adventure Lodge has been doing for the last 42 years!\nItinerary- This is a ROUGH Itinerary that is subject to change based upon weather and wildlife conditions\nJune 29\, 2023 ? 6:30pm\nHunt’s Photo Education’s Director of Photo Adventures\, Don Toothaker\, will meet everyone at The Lakefront Anchorage Millennium?s Hotel for check in\, introductions\, and dinner. This is the night BEFORE the workshop begins.\nAfter dinner we will walk along the shore of Lake Hood looking for waterfowl and moose\, so have your camera gear with you and ready to go! Lake Hood is North America?s busiest sea plane base\, so we are sure to see many sea planes coming and going during our walk as well.\nDay 1- June 30\, 2023\n2:00PM: We will take taxis to Iliamna Air Taxi?s Terminal\, 6231 S Airpark Pl. Anchorage AK 99502 for our flight to Iliamna at 4:00pm. (907) 334-9845 is the phone number for Penn and Air Airlines. You MUST make your own reservation for round trip flights from Anchorage to Lake Iliamna. An estimate of airfare is roughly $500.00.\nWe will board the 9 passenger Pilatus PC-12 Aircraft for the one hour flight to the village of Iliamna where we will be met by the staff of Jacques Adventure Lodge and transported to the lodge to get checked into our rooms.\nAfter check-in\, everyone will gather in the main lodge for a mandatory safety orientation. Next\, everyone will be individually fitted with state of the art Gore-Tex waders and wading boots\, all supplied by the lodge. Waders give us the ability to remain perfectly dry sitting on wet tundra or crossing creeks. The gear is lightweight\, comfortable for all-day wear\, and impervious to the weather! We will have a hearty dinner and prepare for the morning’s activities.\nDay 2- July 1\, 2023\nWe will leave early in the morning in float planes for the Katmai coast. Depending upon the weather and the salmon run\, we may fly out to Brooks Falls to photograph Grizzly Bears fishing for salmon at the iconic falls or we may fly out to photograph bears digging for clams and eating sedge grasses along the coast. Here it is also common to see a wolf walking the river bank and tidal flats or just napping in the sedge grasses meadows. The entire day will be spent with a background of a steaming volcano partly covered by glaciers. A 45-minute flight back to the lodge will fly you low over the glaciers and ice fields of Mount Douglas. And\, of course\, a hot shower\, Hors d?Oeuvres\, dinner\, and fellowship at the lodge will follow.\nDay 3- July 2\, 2023\nWe will fly by float planes to Twin Lakes in Lake Clark National Park to view and photograph the Dick Proenneke log cabin (One Man?s Wilderness). There will be lots of photo-ops while flying over the turquoise water of Lake Clark\, in the high Alpine-mountain passes with Dall sheep and caribou\, and the glaciers of Lake Clark National Park. The plane will touch-down on Upper Twin Lake\, a mere 100-yards from the historic homestead site built by Dick Proenneke. The history is well-documented and preserved by the Park Service. You will find no shortage of subjects to keep your camera clicking through the day.\nDay 4- July 3\, 2023\nWe will leave the lodge arriving on the Katmai coast\, landing on the beach in a tundra-tired wheel plane\, just in time for low-tide. The mission for today will be photographing bears digging for clams and eating sedge grasses with the glaciers and ice fields of Mount Douglas in the background. Here\, it is also common to see a wolf on or near our secluded beach. This day may require more walking than other days\, as the bears may be spread out along the tidal flats\, or napping in the sedge grasses. On the 40-minute flight back to the lodge\, we will fly low over saltwater estuaries and tidal flats. As always a hot shower\, Hors d?Oeuvres\, dinner\, and fellowship will follow.\nDay 5- July 4\, 2023\nIndependence Day. We will head out once again to the McNeil River Sanctuary where we will photograph grizzly bears in the sedge grass meadows along the river as they graze on grasses and dig for clams. Once again\, this will be an adventurous day flying to this remote area\, landing on a small pond\, and hiking into the meadows. The backdrop for our day will be snowcapped mountains\, meadows as far as the eye can see\, and the unique feeling of being in the midst of this vast\, wild wilderness.\nDay 6- July 5\, 2023\nWe will fly out to Brooks Falls for a morning of photographing Grizzly Bears at the falls\, fishing in the river\, and along grass meadows. We will be back to the lodge in time to pack and transfer to Iliamna Airport for our flight back to Anchorage at 5:45pm. We will spend the night in Anchorage at either of the recommended hotels.\nJuly 6\, 2023\nFlights home depending upon traveler and destination\nTrip Highlights\n? A once in a lifetime Photo Adventure to some of the best grizzly bear photography locations in the world\n? All Lodging\, food\, guides\, daily bush flights\, daily maid service and waders are included\n? Attendees must make all of their own flight arrangements to and from Anchorage\n? Attendees must make their own hotel reservations in Anchorage if staying prior to June 29th and for the final night on July 5th. We recommend staying in one of two Anchorage hotels. Both hotels are close to the airport and have airport shuttles.\nThe Lake Shore Inn & Suites (907) 248-3485\nVery Basic Hotel with good prices\nThe Lakefront Anchorage Millennium (907) 243-2300\nUpscale Hotel Overlooking Lake Hood\nWhat to Expect\nThis spectacular photo adventure is based in the remote village of Lake Iliamna. The village and our lodge are surrounded by 18 million acres of wilderness that consists of Katmai National Park\, Lake Clark National Park\, and McNeil River Bear sanctuary. These wild and remote areas are accessible only by specially equipped bush planes flown by incredibly experienced pilots. Our home for this epic adventure is Jerry?s Adventure Lodge located on the shores of Lake Iliamna. The lodge?s host\, Jerry Jacques\, has been leading bear excursions here since 1978 and is regarded as one of the best in the business. Jerry?s Adventure Lodge is family run\, environmentally friendly\, and safety conscience at all times. Each day\, after enjoying a hearty home cooked breakfast\, we will climb aboard our bush planes and fly off to some of the most incredibly wild locations for bear photography on earth. After landing we will hike into the best locations possible. You will carry your camera gear while wearing waders and wader boots. You should be able to walk approximately 5 miles a day on dirt roads\, walk ways\, uneven grassy ground\, or in river beds featuring moving water\, mud\, and rocks. It IS a workout. It is also a truly incredible adventure.\nDaily excursion locations will be determined by your tour leaders and Jerry each morning based on weather and bear activity. The lodge has access to numerous locations in the Alaskan Wilderness so each day promises to be an exhilarating and memorable experience for all. Grizzly bears fishing for salmon is action packed. Grizzly bears digging for clams or eating sedge grass is an intimate and exciting experience. At the end of the day the group will return to the lodge for a hearty hot meal and discussion from the day?s events.\nGuides are with us at all times for safety. They and your tour leaders will be provided with bear spray whenever in bear country. Your guides and pilots have years of experience with bears and will lead us each day with an emphasis always on safety.\nAccommodations and Food\nThe lodge is located in the remote village of Lake Iliamna directly on the shores of Alaska?s largest lake for which the village was named. The lodge is about a 15 minute drive from the small regional airport that we arrive at from Anchorage. Guests will stay in small efficiency cabins on the property next to the main lodge. Two guests per cabin; there is no single occupancy. Each cabin has two full sized beds\, unlimited electricity\, and a private bathroom. The lodge finalized major upgrades to the septic system as well as improvements in the main lodge this year.\nHot breakfasts and dinners will be served in the lodge each morning and evening. We will eat as a group. Meals are prepared fresh daily by the chef who can cater to both meat lovers\, vegetarians\, and any dietary restrictions. If you have special dietary requests please call the lodge at least 3 weeks before your arrival so supplies will be on hand to meet your needs. Bagged lunches are taken with us each day and eaten in the field. The lodge is equipped with a fireplace\, a pool table\, and ample table space for us to gather for meals\, relaxing\, editing images\, and have class discussions too. There is a large screen TV that we can utilize for image review during any weather delays or in the evening if time allows.\nGetting Around\nThe lodge utilizes large SUV?s when necessary for local ground transportation to and from the local airport as well as any local destinations for photography. Transportation to and from prime bear locations is done by small bush planes equipped with floats for landing on water\, radios\, and survival gear. Each plane can take 7 passengers. Each plane is meticulously maintained for safety. On days of ANY inclement weather we will NOT fly!\nPhysical Ability:\n? We will walk up to 5 miles a day carrying our camera equipment and packs while wearing waders and wading boots. Most often the hiking is on dirt roads\, but there will be hikes in tall grasses through meadows as well. At times the terrain in the meadows and along the river banks are uneven.\n? We will wade through water to exit planes and possibly wade through moving water to reach good bear viewing locations.\n? We will utilize small bush planes that seat no more than 7 guests for all of our local transportation to and from bear locations. These planes take off and land on water. If you have difficulty getting in and out of a small plane or any fear of flying in small\, propeller planes\, please consider carefully\nPhotography Skill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome. While this is a photography workshop\, non-photographers may also register\, but please note that we will emphasize photographing on the workshop.\nRecommended photo gear:\n?Camera with a variety of lenses. Wide\, standard\, telephoto\, super-telephoto are all recommended. You don?t need to bring every lens\, but you will likely want a variety\, from 24mm to 600mm. Rentals are available from rentals.huntsphoto.com!\n?Sturdy Tripod with head and quick release. A gimbal head would be helpful\, but not necessary.\n?Extra memory cards & Extra camera batteries are essential\n?Laptop and external hard drive\nMisc: When we get closer to the Adventure\, we will send recommendations for what gear to bring\, both photographically and personal wear. When necessary\, Jacques Adventure Lodge will provide gear\, such as Gore-Tex waders and wading boots.\nNotes about registration\n?A $2375 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot for this trip. The total cost of this trip is $9499. Final payment is due 90-days prior to the trip.
