SUMMARY:Video Basics- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nPhotographers everywhere love that digital cameras have the capability of creating ?videos?. But what important settings are there? How can I take full advantage of my camera that has 4K 60fps\, and what am I even saying when I say those words??? I just want to make a great video- what do I need to know?!\nWell\, fret no more! Video Basics is geared for photographers that want to use their camera for occasional videos! This is the class that is going to give you insight into the basic settings and why to set them; how to take full advantage of the best qualities of your camera\, and leaves a lot of the higher-end technical stuff out of the picture.\nIn this jam-packed course\, we?ll cover basic camera settings (some of which you?re used to from still photography); basic menu settings such as frame rates\, resolution\, and codecs; framing\, composition\, and cinematography basics. The goal of this course is to send you on your way much more confident about how to set up your next video.\nA clear difference:?This class is not necessarily geared toward someone that is looking to branch into filmmaking (though it couldn?t hurt). This class is geared towards the photographer that wants to make casual videos. If you are a still photographer looking to branch into video to enhance your portfolio\, our Intro to Filmmaking class is a more advanced and challenging class that will dig deeper into many of these concepts. But hey\, you can always take both classes!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic Pt 2
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we?ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We?ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic Pt 3
Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Street Photography Walk: Harvard Square in the Evening
DESCRIPTION:For this workshop\, we will be working on Street Photography in Harvard Square. Harvard Square\, given its famous local lore\, location next to Harvard University\, and close proximity to Boston Massachusetts\, draws many thousands of visitors per year who come to shop\, eat\, drink\, and visit local historic and cultural sights in the square. Given the volume of people and traffic\, there is a constant sense of motion and activity in Harvard Square. This walk is a terrific opportunity to work on street and candid photography\, with plenty of subject matter. We will discuss managing ISO and shutter speed in low-light conditions to never miss a shot\, as well as the art of blending in and going unnoticed.\nWe will also try to get it all right in camera! While you are welcome to shoot in RAW\, we’ll also discuss the joy of shooting for the end result in JPEG! Join us for a fun walk!!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Mexican Hat & Monument Valley
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nThe road to Monument Valley crosses the Utah-Arizona state line as it heads towards a group of red cliffs and spires in the distance. Heavy rain may temporarily make the road impassable for all but 4 WD vehicles. The drive is 17 miles long of which 13 miles is a one-way loop\, and typical times for the full trip are 4 to 5 hours for photographers. 15 mph is the speed limit\, and some places are too rocky and bumpy to go any faster\, though other sections are quite smooth (with a surface of hard pressed sand). Early morning is the preferred time to visit as the light is better for photography and there are far fewer people than later in the day. Opening hours are 6 am – 8 pm (May – Sep) or 8 am – 5 pm (Oct – Apr).\nThere is much to see along the Valley Drive\, even if many of the views are of the same formations\, just at different angles\, as some of the narrower buttes look quite different from one side compared to the other. This part of Monument Valley is one of the most impressive large-scale landscapes anywhere in the Southwest\, rivaling places like the Grand Canyon or Yosemite for the variety of scenes to photograph.\nWe will photograph in the following locations:\n? Muley Point Overlook\n? Gooseneck State Park\n? Valley of the Gods\n? Forrest Gump Hill\n? Monument Valley\n? The Mittens and Merrick Butte\n? Elephant Butte and The Three Sisters\n? John Ford?s Point and Artist?s Point\nWhat?s included:\n? Five days of in-field photography and instruction\n? Airport P/U & return\, ground transportation in the field\n? Experienced workshop leaders\n? Image Discussion and Review Sessions\nWhat?s?not?included:\n? Air fare or baggage fees to and from Salt Lake City (SLC)\n? Lodging (We will be staying at the San Juan Inn in Mexican Hat- 435-683-2220)\n? Meals\n? Any activities outside the tour itinerary\n? SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing (Part 2)- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we?ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to ?finish? the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as ?Adobe Lightroom CC? (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different? This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. Older versions\, such as Lightroom 5 or 6\, are also acceptable\, though not all functions will be available.

SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Comparing Paper Surfaces
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Thursday October 5th\, 6-7pm ? Online! \nPrinted Image Review: Thursday October 12th\, 6-8pm ? In our Hunt’s Melrose store or Online! \nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic!\nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Comparing Paper Surfaces\nWhat does it look like on Matte Paper? What does it look like on Glossy Paper? Why would I print it on one versus the other? What does the paper bring to my image?\nIn this class\, we will help discuss the answers to these questions. In our instructional online presentation\, we’ll discuss some of the key differences between paper surfaces and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. Then\, we will literally print the image two times so we can see the difference\, getting to the root of the answers.\nIn the end\, you will receive TWO prints of your edited image up to 13×19″ in size. (Please note: The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of those prints!)\nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time.
