DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we?ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We?ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we?ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to ?finish? the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as ?Adobe Lightroom CC? (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different? SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. DESCRIPTION:This online class will meet Thursday January 18th & 25th\, 7-8:30pm EST \nTwo of the greatest advantages of living near the coast are the photographic opportunities afforded twice daily: Sunrise and Sunset. The coastline has natural obviously natural beauty\, but how to create impactful images can be elusive and frustrating. How do we plan for weather? How do we decide to expose our images? And how do we have the foresight to plan out our images in the field with post-processing in mind?\nIn this 2-part online class\, guest photographer Tony Baldasaro will share his experiences on how to best photograph along the coast\, from prep work to in-the-field techniques to post-processing. \nIn session one\, Tony will cover tips on creating impactful images of sunrise and sunset along the coast\, including:\n• Proper Equipment & Settings\n• The challenge of dynamic range\n• Shooting to the Right and how to use your Histogram\n• Compositional techniques to keep in mind in the field\n• The concept of “collecting assets” – shooting in the field with post processing in mind. \nIn session two\, Tony will tackle the challenge of post-processing\, including:\n• His techniques for managing files in Lightroom\n• Choosing impactful images.\n• Using layers in photoshop for simple blending techniques.\n• The difference between global and local adjustments.\n• Using masks in Lightroom to make local adjustments \nAbout Tony Baldasaro Having called New England my home for nearly 50 years\, Tony has grown accustomed to not only the seasonal changes\, but also the sometimes volatile weather that comes with those changes and has come to love photographing in all of the conditions New England has to offer.\nWith more than 20 years of photography experience\, he loves creating images that depict not only natural landscapes\, but the animals found in those landscapes as well. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Winter in Yellowstone National Park
DESCRIPTION:Photographing Yellowstone National Park during the winter is a memorable experience for every photographer. January\, with its snow and cold temperatures\, transforms America’s oldest national park into a wondrous land full of unique opportunities to photograph wildlife amid the dramatic landscapes of winter. For the week we will explore the park in two parts to capitalize on the best wildlife and landscape opportunities possible. The first half of the trip will be spent exploring the northern section of the park. Each day we will leave by van from Gardiner Montana in search of bison\, moose\, coyotes\, fox\, bobcat\, and more along the Lamar Valley Road. Whenever possible we will photograph scenic landscapes as well. We will spend the second half of our trip exploring the interior of the park by custom snow coaches specially designed for traveling over snow. Each day we will leave from West Yellowstone Montana searching for the best wildlife activity and landscapes the interior has to offer. DESCRIPTION:Water Drop Photography is a style wherein one drops a liquid into another liquid and photographs it in a way that emphasizes the “unseeable”–little droplets\, the corona of the drop\, and more. This style uses high speed flash in order to stop the action instead of fast shutter speed. It is a simple technique that can be achieved with even the most rudimentary gear\, but it can produce infinitely different results. Just like snowflakes\, you’ll never be able to duplicate a water drop.\nIn this workshop\, we will begin with a live demo describing the gear\, settings\, set-up\, and execution of water drop photography. We’ll then dive right in\, beginning simply and then moving on to not just water droplets\, but also other items! Photographers of all skill levels are welcome\, but one should come with patience!\nTwo important notes: We will be using flash in this workshop. You do not need to own a flash\, and we may use only what we have anyway\, but you are welcome to bring one if you have one in order to understand how to replicate it on your own. DESCRIPTION:About The Printed Review Monthly \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. The concept of these classes is similar to our Printed Vision Series Classes: Attendees will independently process 1-2 images and upload them to the instructor for review. The instructor will send back a video image review which will discuss how to improve the image to make it “print ready”\, including exposure\, focus\, composition\, and especially paper selection. The instructor will then print one of the images to be displayed in the Print Review\, which will take place both in-person and online\, in case you cannot attend live. In the end of each session\, you will end up with a print up to 13×19” on Fine Art paper to take home with you. (We print on Moab\, Hahnemuhle\, and Canson fine art papers.) \nFor this class\, you can either choose a single session OR sign up for three months at a discounted rate.  You do not need to attend 3 consecutive sessions and may attend whenever it’s convenient. Choosing this option is excellent to keep the printing conversation going! However\, please note that the sessions expire after one year. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. DESCRIPTION:This online class will meet Thursday January 18th & 25th\, 7-8:30pm EST \nTwo of the greatest advantages of living near the coast are the photographic opportunities afforded twice daily: Sunrise and Sunset. The coastline has natural obviously natural beauty\, but how to create impactful images can be elusive and frustrating. How do we plan for weather? How do we decide to expose our images? And how do we have the foresight to plan out our images in the field with post-processing in mind?\nIn this 2-part online class\, guest photographer Tony Baldasaro will share his experiences on how to best photograph along the coast\, from prep work to in-the-field techniques to post-processing. \nIn session one\, Tony will cover tips on creating impactful images of sunrise and sunset along the coast\, including:\n• Proper Equipment & Settings\n• The challenge of dynamic range\n• Shooting to the Right and how to use your Histogram\n• Compositional techniques to keep in mind in the field\n• The concept of “collecting assets” – shooting in the field with post processing in mind. \nIn session two\, Tony will tackle the challenge of post-processing\, including:\n• His techniques for managing files in Lightroom\n• Choosing impactful images.\n• Using layers in photoshop for simple blending techniques.\n• The difference between global and local adjustments.\n• Using masks in Lightroom to make local adjustments \nAbout Tony Baldasaro Having called New England my home for nearly 50 years\, Tony has grown accustomed to not only the seasonal changes\, but also the sometimes volatile weather that comes with those changes and has come to love photographing in all of the conditions New England has to offer.\nWith more than 20 years of photography experience\, he loves creating images that depict not only natural landscapes\, but the animals found in those landscapes as well. Specifically\, he loves creating images of birds in their natural habitat.\nIn addition to photography\, Tony has been a teacher and school official for nearly 30 years. Merging his two passions\, photography and education\, gives him the opportunity to do what he loves most: Teach and create. DESCRIPTION:Who doesn’t love a nice tack-sharp flower photo? Or a beautiful landscape\, in focus from foreground to background? These images can be created effortlessly\, but sometimes\, there may be a little more effort than you might think!\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski for a workshop involving Focus Stacking–the process of combining multiple images\, each with a different focal point\, in order to create an image with far greater depth of field in which all (or most) of the image is in focus!\nOur workshop will begin with our Intro to Focus Stacking class (Tuesday\, January 23rd). Your registration to this workshop will INCLUDE that class.\nOn Saturday January 27th\, we will work hands-on in the classroom creating focus stacks. We will discuss a myriad of factors\, from subject and composition to camera settings\, tripod effectiveness\, and more! About 3/4 through the workshop\, we will stop photographing and review the stacks on your computer. (While it’s great to bring your computer\, if you cannot\, you are welcome to hand the files off to us and we will demo the process in class with your images.) We will provide feedback\, then give an assignment to create ANOTHER focus stack on your own before our image review session on Monday February 5th!\nThis is a fantastic opportunity to workshop this process from start to finish\, and receive feedback along the way!

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In this workshop\, we will show you how to load film into a developing tank\, discuss the elements of the chemistry involved\, and other various aspects. Because of the many variables\, we will only be using one specific type of developer\, but we will discuss the possibilities of other developers available and their advantages.\nWe will provide tanks\, reels\, chemistry\, and basically anything that you need to develop your film. All you will need to have is a roll of film to develop. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “High ISO”. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode (Pt 3)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic.
