DESCRIPTION:Join photographer Vail Fucci\, known as The Headshot Doctor®\, for a live look at her modern approach to creating professional headshots from start to finish. \nGreat headshots are about much more than camera settings. Known for her innovative approach to real-time image delivery for headshots and events\, Vail combines technical expertise with a talent for helping her subjects see themselves in a whole new light\, both literally and figuratively. \nVail specializes in creating high-end professional headshots that help people look and feel their best. SUMMARY:Hunt's Show Seminars: Before you Edit- Why Filters Still Matter in Digital Photography with NiSi
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an eye-opening exploration of how neutral density and polarizing filters remain essential tools in modern photography. In this engaging presentation\, Jim Reisman from NiSi Optics USA will demonstrate how these filters help photographers master exposure\, achieve stunning long-exposure shots\, and create images with unparalleled vibrance—effects that simply can’t be replicated in post-processing.\n\nBut ND and polarizers are just the beginning. We’ll also touch on the creative impact of special effects filters\, such as Black Mist and other filters. How they can add cinematic depth\, soften highlights\, and enhance atmosphere in a way that software alone cannot achieve.\n\nWith so many filter options and mounting systems available\, choosing the right one can be overwhelming. This session will also break down the different filter systems—magnetic\, screw-in\, and square—to help you determine what best suits your photography style and workflow.\n\nWhether you’re looking to enhance landscapes\, portraits\, or cinematic visuals\, filters remain an essential tool for photographers at all levels. This presentation will provide both technical insight and creative inspiration to help you make the most of these powerful tools.\n\nAbout Jim Reisman\n\nJim Reisman is a longtime professional photographer and photography-industry executive with decades of experience. His background behind the camera\, combined with his experience in the photo industry\, has given him a deep understanding of the challenges photographers at every level face when creating better images.\n\nThroughout his career\, Jim has focused on helping photographers improve their work by understanding their equipment\, controlling light\, and making more informed creative decisions at the time of capture. For the past seven years\, he has brought that experience to NiSi Optics\, where he serves as Chief Operating Officer for North America. His presentation offers a practical photographer’s perspective on the continuing relevance of filters and how they can help today’s digital photographers create images that cannot always be duplicated in post-processing.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Experience: Toy Photography - For Children and Adults of All Ages with Sony
DESCRIPTION:Join Sony Specialist Jason Etzel and bring your camera\, lens\, and imagination as we go back to being a kid with his Toy Photography class at Hunt’s.\n \nWhether it is correct or not does not matter as we mix and match different genres of our childhood friends and put them in cinematic and comical circumstances.  Our images will tell new stories through as the characters from Pixar meet Marvel’s Avengers\, Superman and Batman pair together against the Alien and Predator\, and even Godzilla and My Little Pony begin their own epic quests crafted by your imaginations.\n\nAttendees will have the chance to use their own equipment as well as borrow from Sony as units are available where we will also go over basics in constant lighting\, lenses\, macro photography\, and even focus stacking.  Jason will also be sharing tips and tricks to add effects to your images but only when the adults are not watching.  Space is limited\, but the possibilities are endless.  Feel free to bring your own cherished toys from home as well.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture and begin to discuss a variety of masking techniques. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. SUMMARY:Print Review Monthly: Printing in Monochrome
DESCRIPTION:Introduction on Printing in Monochrome- Thursday November 12th\, 6:30pm ET • Online! \nPrint Review- Thursday November 19th\, 6pm ET • Hunt’s Melrose or Online! \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing in Monochrome \nMonochrome literally means “one color”. This generally refers to classic black and white\, in which all other color is stripped away and we’re left with the beautiful and simple image at its core.  However\, monochrome can also refer to an image that is printed with a different hue than black\, such as blue\, brown (sepia)\, or other tones. \nIn this class\, we will discuss printing in monochrome\, from black & white to blue & white to brown & white and beyond. Which images and papers work? We will workshop your images to make a different concept! \nThis Print Review topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic– some of the key differences between paper surfaces– and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. Educator Paul Nelson will produce a recorded image review\, discussing paper options\, editing suggestions\, and more\, to be sent back to you leading up to the second session. Paul will then print images for the class. In the end\, you will receive a print of one of your edited images up to 13×19″ in size. (Please note: We are happy to make a larger or additional print outside of the class for an additional fee!) \nJoin us for an informative Printed Review class! \nA Note About The Printed Review Series \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. These sessions are excellent for anyone: \n• Someone that wants a little help with editing before they get a print \n• Someone that does print but has print-related questions \n• A person that prints often and wants to try a different paper \n• Someone with no knowledge of printing that just wants to get a print! \n  \nCome check out why printing is the best thing to do for your photography! \n  \nIn-Person or Online \nThis class will be taking place in-person in our Melrose store location and online\, in case you cannot attend live. SUMMARY:Holiday Macro & Tabletop Photography Workshop- Hunt's Photo Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education is proud to present our annual Holiday Macro & Tabletop Workshops. These workshops are designed to help you create\, compose\, and photograph stellar mini-holiday masterpieces. Photographers that participate in these workshops will also have one of their holiday photographs printed 13×19″ and hung in the Hunt’s Photo Gallery in Melrose for the month of December. (More details below.)\nWe will begin each workshop with a demo that will discuss camera settings\, lighting\, composition\, subject placement\, and more. You will then create and photograph your compositions for the remainder of the time during the workshop\, with instructor assistance available. Our ultimate goal in this workshop is at least one “final piece” that can be printed on a large scale.\nAt the end of the workshop\, attendees will work edit and process their images individually and submit 1-2 images to the instructors for review\, then print the images as 13×19″.  (Please note: due to the time constraints of the class\, we will review and edit the images in the class\, but will print and hang them after the class.) These photographs will be hung in our Hunt’s Photo Gallery in Melrose for the month of December\, after which you will be given the print.\nThis will be a fun and challenging workshop that will walk you through the full process of creating stellar holiday macro imagery. We will stay with you during the editing process\, and even guide you in understanding the best processing for a final print. Join us for one of our favorite workshops of the year!

SUMMARY:Creative Portrait Shootout: A Hands-On Styled Portrait Experience- Hunt's Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education and Sony for a hands-on event with a trio of photographers (Sony Ambassador Tony Gale\, frequent Hunt’s Photo Education guest instructor Henry Marte\, and Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson) guiding you to capture amazing portraits! \nIn this Portrait Shootout\, we will have four unique portrait setups for you to photograph. Each setup will be a little different\, placing our models in unique scenery\, props and costumes. All setups will have lighting provided. The goal is to put you\, the photographer\, in front of as many opportunities to capture unique portraits. Through scenery\, props\, costumes\, atmosphere\, and lighting\, you’ll be able transform a simple portrait into a more complex story! You also don’t need to be an expert at any of these elements to participate. Many of these setups will be built\, so you don’t need to worry about knowing the lighting or even how to pose the model! However\, we will have enough instructors to describe how or why you light or pose a subject in a specific way\, if you want to know! \nThe Creative Portrait Shootout aims to inspire and invigorate photographers to create something amazing. Join us for this fantastic opportunity! \nThis event is sponsored by Sony\, but ALL photographers\, regardless what camera you have\, are encouraged to attend. Sony loaner gear (cameras and lenses) will be available for ANYONE interested! (Make sure to bring a driver’s license and credit card for loaners.) \nSony Contest! \nIn addition to the event\, attendees will have the opportunity to post up their best image to IG in an attempt to win a prize. Details to be announced at the event! \nAbout Tony: \nSony Ambassador Tony Gale is a NYC based award winning portrait  photographer shooting for a range of advertising\, editorial and corporate clients. Tony was raised in Bellingham\, Washington (90 miles north of Seattle) and spent most of his time as a child exploring the woods behind his parents house. At 19 after visiting Bruce Lee’s grave in Seattle\, and taking his first photo with a disposable camera\, he bought his first camera. He promptly broke it and bought his first SLR. At 21\, he moved to Seattle to pursue photography and in fall of 2000 moved to NYC\, the center of the world. \nTony has taught photographic lighting at FIT in NYC and Parsons the New School for Design\, judged photo contests\, and has traveled the country leading workshops for American Photographic Artists. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic Pt 2
In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture.
