The Magic of Infrared\nInterest in infrared photography has grown in recent years. There are many options for capturing images (filters\, converted cameras) as well as for post processing. In this session Jamie will share information about infrared wavelengths and white balance\, camera conversions\, subjects that lend themselves to infrared image making and share post processing possibilities\, including channel swaps\, faux color and monochrome. In addition\, she will provide tips and techniques for field work that will enable better results for final images. Throughout the session you?ll see how infrared photography opens up a new window of creativity when the light is less than ideal for color and how subjective and creative your final images can be. Jamie will share some of her experiences with infrared photography over the past twelve years and how it helped her grow in other areas of her photography. The creative possibilities are endless.\nAbout Jamie:\nJamie Konarski Davidson is an award-winning freelance outdoor & nature photographer with a passion for capturing and sharing the intimate moments and beauty of the natural world on its own and as it blends with the ?rest of the world.? Her interpretive style reflects that ?love? of the blooms along with an intentional approach. The Art of Capturing Refraction\nIn this program\, OM SYSTEM ambassador\, Emilie Talpin will immerse you in the world of water drop photography\, also known as refraction. If you are not familiar with this term\, refraction is when the light passes from one medium and into another\, affecting the direction of the light. In macro photography\, the capture of a background subject into a foreground water drop is a good illustration of refraction. We will learn how to capture such images and go over the equipment needed as well as techniques and tips to make a successful photo.\nAbout Emilie\nEmilie Talpin is an OM-SYSTEM (Olympus) ambassador\, who grew up in Chalon sur Sa?ne\, France\, the birthplace of Nic?phore Ni?pce and the first photograph. Despite this background\, she got into photography very late and in 2018 joined a local camera club where she met a group of talented photographers and was inspired to dive deeper into the art of capturing moments in time. Now\, everywhere she goes\, it is with her trusted OM-1 camera by her side. Lately\, she has been concentrating on wildlife and macro photography\, in particular water drop refraction\, but will occasionally stray with friends to an astro or landscape photoshoot. As a French teacher\, she is inherently eager to learn and try new material; a practice also applied outside the classroom as she explores the world around her and chases her next photo.

DESCRIPTION:Please note: This is a 2-part class that will meet on the dates listed above\nPhotographers everywhere love that digital cameras have the capability of creating “videos”. But what important settings are there? How can I take full advantage of my camera that has 4K 60fps\, and what am I even saying when I say those words??? I just want to make a great video- what do I need to know?!\nWell\, fret no more! Video Basics is geared for photographers that want to use their camera for occasional videos! This is the class that is going to give you insight into the basic settings and why to set them; how to take full advantage of the best qualities of your camera\, and leaves a lot of the higher-end technical stuff out of the picture.\nIn this jam-packed course\, we’ll cover basic camera settings (some of which you’re used to from still photography); basic menu settings such as frame rates\, resolution\, and codecs; framing\, composition\, and cinematography basics. The goal of this course is to send you on your way much more confident about how to set up your next video.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Photoshop for Lightroom Users- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Hunt’s Photo Education often promotes the idea of using Adobe Lightroom for most basic editing\, as the program’s interface for editing multiple images is fairly intuitive and is designed specifically for photographers. Lightroom can do quite a bit\, but there are times when Adobe Photoshop can do a better job. Where can we benefit from using Photoshop as opposed to Lightroom?\nOur course\, Photoshop for Lightroom Users\, teaches the essentials that we should know in Photoshop. We will begin by making basic changes to the images in Lightroom\, then bring them to Photoshop to fine-tune them and make the corrections that we either cannot make in Lightroom or ones that would be easier or better quality to make in Photoshop. Since Lightroom functions as an organizer as well as an editor\, we will finish by bringing the images back into Lightroom.\nIn this course we will learn:\n?When and why to use PS over LR\n?What are Layers?\n?Basic Photoshop workflow\n?Removing objects\n?Basic adjustments\n?Adding text\nWe recommend bringing a laptop for this class with Adobe Lightroom CC Classic and Adobe Photoshop CC installed. Please be advised: Lightroom CC Classic and Photoshop CC are the only versions we recommend for this class. Please make sure they are both downloaded and make sure you can open them prior to arriving. Also\, please be advised that Adobe Photoshop Elements and older versions of Photoshop have very different layouts and will not translate as well for this class.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk and Adventure Printing Series
DESCRIPTION:Have you attended a recent Hunt’s Photo Walk or Adventure and want to get a print made? Do you either want to learn a little bit about the editing process or get a professional’s opinion? If the answers to these questions are “yes”\, this will be an excellent opportunity to take advantage of our Hunt’s Photo Walk Printing Series.\nHere’s how it works: If you’ve taken a Hunt’s Photo Walk or Adventure recently\, you are welcome to sign up for the class! (There really isn’t a date limitation\, but we always encourage printing an image within a few months.) Upon signing up\, you will receive an email reading “Confirmation for Hunt’s Photo Walk and Adventure Printing Series”. In that email will be a few basic instructions\, including what images to consider\, what type of image to submit\, and where to upload the images. (We ask that images are uploaded a few days prior to class date so that we have enough time to review and print them.) We will then go through the images for review in a video recording\, discussing exposure\, cropping/composition\, print sizing\, color\, and paper options that may fit with the image. We’ll send you that review\, and upon your approval\, make the prints. We will then regroup for a full print review on the date listed above. You can attend that session live in our Melrose store location or online!\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product.\nWe hope to see you there for this fun experience!\n*Please note: The cost of this class includes the image review and printing of the image up to 13×19″. Extra prints and/or larger prints can also be produced for an additional charge.

SUMMARY:Video Basics- Hunt's Photo\, Providence
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nPhotographers everywhere love that digital cameras have the capability of creating ?videos?. This is the class that is going to give you insight into the basic settings and why to set them; how to take full advantage of the best qualities of your camera\, and leaves a lot of the higher-end technical stuff out of the picture.\nIn this jam-packed course\, we?ll cover basic camera settings (some of which you?re used to from still photography); basic menu settings such as frame rates\, resolution\, and codecs; framing\, composition\, and cinematography basics. The goal of this course is to send you on your way much more confident about how to set up your next video.\nA clear difference:?This class is not necessarily geared toward someone that is looking to branch into filmmaking (though it couldn?t hurt). This class is geared towards the photographer that wants to make casual videos. If you are a still photographer looking to branch into video to enhance your portfolio\, our Intro to Filmmaking class is a more advanced and challenging class that will dig deeper into many of these concepts. But hey\, you can always take both classes!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Wiscasset Railroad and WWI Reenactment
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a unique workshop at the Wiscasset\, Waterville\, and Farmington Railway in Alna\, Maine. On the workshop\, we will photograph around the train yard of steam locomotives running\, and also be present for (and photograph) a World War 1 Re-Enactment Encampment full of soldiers in period uniforms and attire.\nThe Wiscasset\, Waterville\, and Farmington Railway was developed in the late-1800s for a planned (but never realized) line to Quebec. The line\, which never made it to Waterville or Farmington\, was abandoned in the 1930s. The WW&F Railway Museum was developed over a shorter portion of the track and contains a fully restored and operational steam train and (occasionally) hosts reenactments.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Lensbaby Walk: Flowers in Bloom at Fuller Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education on a beautiful photo walk photographing plants and flowers with an emphasis on using Lensbaby lenses. Lensbabies are a unique series of lenses\, available for most camera systems that give a variety of looks and effects\, from swirling bokeh to dramatic vignettes\, velvety glows to swirly blurs\, and often with a bright sharp center.\nIn this workshop\, we will be working exclusively with Lensbabies at the Gardens. This will be an excellent way to workshop your lens and is recommended for anyone that has struggled with or has questions on Lensbaby!\nDue to space constraints\, we will also be working handheld–without tripods! We will maximize our quality to get the best shot while in this situation! This is a great exercise to work handheld to get the best shot!\nFuller Gardens is a public\, non-profit botanical garden in North Hampton\, New Hampshire. The gardens include continuously blooming flowers\, emphasizing a rose garden and dahlias throughout the season. For more information on Fuller Gardens can be found here.

SUMMARY:Creative Concept Workshop: Food Drops (and Floating Objects!)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Educators Ron Phillips and Paul Nelson for a unique\, informative\, and fun workshop! Drop some food\, take some pictures\, and have some fun!\nPhotography often starts with an idea\, but sometimes those ideas require post-processing to make them a reality. ?I want to capture food in mid-air falling onto a plate.? You know it can be done\, but how can we do it? Ultimately\, this is achieved through the combination of good lighting\, a good setup and technique\, and finally\, multiple exposures combined in post-processing. And while it sounds difficult\, our goal in this workshop will be to break it all down and use simple techniques to get an amazing finished product!\nWe’ll begin with the concept\, pictured above. Working in groups of two\, we will put together the lighting for the scene and set up the composition. Then we will photograph and work on technique and execution. Once we have successful images\, we will then dive into post-processing using Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop\, combining exposures to make an amazing end result.\nA note on editing requirements: For best results\, attendees should bring a laptop with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop installed (and updated). You do not need to be an expert\, but you should have some familiarity with Lightroom and Photoshop.

In week two\, we’ll edit landscape images from start to finish using Adobe Lightroom Classic. By week three\, we’ll discuss composition\, dynamic range\, depth of field\, and focus. We’ll also discuss when to shoot in color and when to shoot in black and white. In our last week\, we’ll cover shooting and editing HDR images and panorama images in Adobe Lightroom Classic. We’ll also cover shooting landscapes at night as well as astrolandscapes. Each week\, Emily will give an assignment to hone your new skills and each student will receive individualized critiques. Emily is also available to answer any questions along the way.\nJoin us for this fun and unique multi-session series that will help you develop your skills with landscapes!\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class.
