SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Advanced Techniques to Fine Art Photography with Thibault Roland
DESCRIPTION:For most of us\, photography is inherently technical. We strive to obtain the most recent and superior gear\, sometimes just so we can play with new toys.\nThere is nothing wrong with that\, but photography goes beyond the equipment we use\, and it can be hard at times not to lose focus that we are creatives first and foremost.\nWith this approach in mind\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland will use his own work to introduce the concepts behind some of his signature techniques such as long exposure\, infrared and tilt/shift photography. He will discuss how they can be used in order to create unique looking images and effects\, and how a change in perspective with respect to equipment can drastically improve your own photographic work.\nAbout Thibault: Born in France in 1981\, Sony Artisan of Imagery Thibault Roland is a scientist by training and fine art photographer. Thanks to his rigorous background he became a Master of techniques such as long exposure\, tilt/shift and infrared photography. He specializes in black and white architecture\, minimalism and seascapes. Previously an instructor at the New England School of Photography\, Thibault teaches workshops and gives seminars internationally. The majority of the class–90 minutes to 2 hours– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nCan’t attend the class? \nIf you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video\, no problem: Just sign up for the class! SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Photography Gypsy Horses ? Popham Beach\, Maine
DESCRIPTION:Popham Beach\, located in Phippsburg\, Maine\, will be the setting for an exciting afternoon photographing Gypsy Horses and their riders at low tide. The riders will maneuver the horses along the beach for us to have various vantage points for reflections\, details\, lifestyle\, action\, and creative opportunities. Gypsy horses are a specialty breed from the UK originally where they were used to pull carriages. They are often a piebald coloring and feature hooves and legs that showcase their feathered hair.\nThe riders and horses will accommodate us from 1pm to 4pm\, but we will meet in the parking lot at the beach at noon to acclimate ourselves. We will stay through sunset (about 6pm) in order to photograph sunset and other elements at the beach. Come join us for a unique workshop!

SUMMARY:Lensbaby Macro Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Lensbaby lenses are a unique series of lenses\, available for most camera systems that give a variety of looks and effects. From swirling bokeh to dramatic vignettes\, velvety glows to swirly blurs\, and often with a bright sharp center\, these lenses present a unique style for the user experience. Lensbaby lenses are also not always the easiest to use or understand and require a lot of practice and fine-tuning.\nIn this workshop\, we will be working exclusively with Lensbaby to create Macro (and Tabletop) images. We will begin with a demo discussing using Lensbaby\, how to factor in lighting\, and creating macro setups\, and then dive right into individuals photographing their own setups.\nThis will be an excellent way to workshop your lens and is recommended for anyone that has struggled with or has questions on Lensbaby!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk & Image Review: Olde Sturbridge Village in Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Located an hour west of Boston\, Sturbridge Village is a proud replication of an 18th century New England town. Sturbridge Village is a living history museum that features many authentic period buildings and homes to explore and enjoy. The village is also inhabited by re-enactors who provide colorful insight to life in New England during the 18th century. Sturbridge Village is a wonderful destination for a multitude of photographic opportunities as well as a glimpse into a bygone era.\nOlde Sturbridge Village is perhaps one of the best places to have both a Photo Walk and a class. There’s a little bit of everything at this living history museum\, from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture\, from portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors\, in regular light as well as very low light. We will discuss how to work with subjects to create a story\, and also work on settings to fine-tune focus and exposure! This Photo Walk is one of the best opportunities to build your photographic knowledge\, no matter what level. This walk is equally as beneficial as a first walk or a twentieth walk\, as the area has so much to offer!\nAfter the workshop\, attendees will have the opportunity to review their images and make some edits. We will then reconvene online with an image review where we will discuss many of the factors that we discussed on the walk portion of the workshop. This workshop is an excellent opportunity to hone in on and develop your photography skills.\nJoin us for a great experience!

SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Comparing Paper Surfaces
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Thursday March 10th\, 7-8pm ? Online! \nPrinted Image Review: Thursday March 24th\, 6-8pm ? In our Hunt’s Melrose store or Online! \nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic!\nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Comparing Paper Surfaces\nWhat does it look like on Matte Paper? What does it look like on Glossy Paper? Why would I print it on one versus the other? What does the paper bring to my image?\nIn this class\, we will help discuss the answers to these questions. In our instructional online presentation\, we’ll discuss some of the key differences between paper surfaces and present a variety of options for you to have your image printed. Then\, we will literally print the image two times so we can see the difference\, getting to the root of the answers.\nIn the end\, you will receive TWO prints of your edited image up to 13×19″ in size. (Please note: The cost of a 12×18 or 13×19 print on fine art paper is $35-$40; the cost of this class includes the cost of those prints!)\nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time.

SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing- Hunt's Photo\, Providence
DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we?ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We?ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we?ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to ?finish? the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as ?Adobe Lightroom CC? (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different? This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. Older versions\, such as Lightroom 5 or 6\, are also acceptable\, though not all functions will be available.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk & Image Review: Olde Sturbridge Village in Black & White
DESCRIPTION:Prep Class: Wednesday\, March 9th\, 7-8pm ? Online! ??Walk: Friday\, March 11th\, 9:30am-4pm ? Sturbridge\, MA ??Image Review: Sunday\, March 20th\, 7-9pm ? Online!\nLocated an hour west of Boston\, Sturbridge Village is a proud replication of an 18th century New England town.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Portrait Lighting Bootcamp
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Portrait Lighting Bootcamp\, where we will workshop portraits using practical lighting options. Lighting can be intimidating\, whether using a speedlight on camera (or off) or a studio strobe. Our goal is to get each attendee more comfortable with the basics of lighting\, demonstrate how and why to set up lights in certain ways\, and how to create stunning portraits with these lights.\nIn the workshop\, we will create three basic setups with models at each location: Creative lighting portraits; corporate head shots; and full-length portraits. We will utilize studio strobes\, speedlights\, and constant lighting in order to get you comfortable with using all three.\nMost importantly\, attendees will be guiding the setup (and take down) of all the gear. This allows for more hands-on working with everything involved with studio lighting\, from the light to the light stand to the background.\nAttendees are encouraged to bring their own gear\, but we will begin with gear that anyone can use\, including:\n-Studio Strobes\n-Speedlights\n-LED Lighting\n-Radio Triggers\n-Lightmeters\nThis workshop will emphasize creating portraits using studio light and/or strobes. Please note that we will be holding our Posing for Portraits on Saturday\, February 5th. If you sign up for both workshops\, you will receive an additional $50 off of the total! Use promo code ?Bootcamp? prior to signing up for Posing for Portraits!\nLayout of the day:\n9am- Introductions and Q&A\n9:30am- Begin creating setups\n10:30am- Demoing of setups (during this time\, we will photograph each other- Be Prepared!)\n11:30am- Brief Break\n12-4pm- Photographing with models. We will have about 4 hours in three setups.\n4pm- Takeaways from the day

SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Finding Color
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis week’s topic is Finding Color. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment.\nYour personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor.
