SUMMARY:Online: Alternative/Creative- Color Theory
DESCRIPTION:Color theory is the study of how colors work in harmony together and how they affect our feelings and viewpoints. Knowing color theory makes us a better photographer in many ways. It helps us see the world in a new way\, giving us insight into subject choices and stronger compositions. Color theory also aids in the editing process\, allowing us to make faster and more succinct decisions in the hue\, saturation\, and luminance of the tones in our images. We can use color theory to enhance the emotions and messages we hope to portray in our images. \nJoin us for a fun evening where Emily Hojnowski\, Lead Educator at Hunt’s Photo\, shares her passion for both the science and aesthetics of color! Then\, you’ll put your new knowledge and inspiration into action by creating new images for an image review!  \nJoin us\, do something fun\, and get creative!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Film Photo Workshop: A Morning in Rockport
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education and photographer Tessa Klingensmith for a unique walk in the Rockport…with film cameras! \nOn this walk\, we will photograph around downtown Rockport utilizing your film cameras. (You can also bring a digital camera\, but the emphasis will be about shooting on film!) Amongst other topics\, we will talk about exposure\, focus\, and composition. Attendees will need to have a working film camera and at least one roll of film. \nAfter the walk\, we will have an online image review\, which means attendees will need to develop and scan their film to submit images. You can either bring in your roll of film to Hunt’s to have it developed OR\, if you want to learn about film processing\, you can sign up for our Developing Film classes!  (Scanning is included in the cost of that class!)\nThis walk is an excellent opportunity to work on so many varying elements and your skills as a photographer! \nA few notes about our Film Photo Walks\n• Attendees should have a working film camera that they can use for the walk as well as any film they would like to use.\n• Please make sure you have a working battery in the camera.\n• If you are unsure whether your camera is fully functional\, we strongly recommend you contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com and schedule a time that we can check it out!\n• It is also strongly recommended that you either load the film in advance or have an understanding of how to load the film. Again\, if you’re unsure\, contact us at classes@huntsphoto.com \n• You can choose to shoot in black & white or color film. If you are unsure\, a good place to start for black & white film is Kodak Tri-X or Ilford HP5+\, and for color Kodak Gold or Ultramax\, or Fujifilm Superia. There are so many other brands and styles\, but these are the most basic and easy-to-use. \n• Our instructors know film cameras! But we don’t always know EVERY camera immediately\, so as we state above\, please plan accordingly if you’re unsure.\n• And if you do not have a film camera\, Hunt’s Photo stocks a great deal of used film cameras! \n• This is a film photo walk. You’re also welcome to bring a digital camera\, but the emphasis will be about shooting on film! \n  \nAbout Tessa Klingensmith \nTessa Klingensmith is a Salem based photographer with years of experience both in the field and in the lab. She’s passionate about analog photography and loves getting creative by souping film and other experimental processes.

SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing (Part 3)- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we?ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We?ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we?ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to ?finish? the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as ?Adobe Lightroom CC? (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different? This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. Older versions\, such as Lightroom 5 or 6\, are also acceptable\, though not all functions will be available.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Working with Landscape Photography (Pt 4)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nLandscape Photography\nLandscape photography is one of the most easily accessible genres of photography and is enjoyed by many. What does it take to create a landscape image that stands out? Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we go beyond “F8 and be there” and dive deep into the technical\, artistic\, and practical aspects of landscape photography.\nIn week one\, we’ll cover what it takes to plan and the settings necessary for your best shots. We’ll also talk about the gear all landscape photographers should have in their bags and what to do when the weather just won’t cooperate. In week two\, we’ll edit landscape images from start to finish using Adobe Lightroom Classic. By week three\, we’ll discuss composition\, dynamic range\, depth of field\, and focus. We’ll also discuss when to shoot in color and when to shoot in black and white. In our last week\, we’ll cover shooting and editing HDR images and panorama images in Adobe Lightroom Classic. We’ll also cover shooting landscapes at night as well as astrolandscapes. Each week\, Emily will give an assignment to hone your new skills and each student will receive individualized critiques. Emily is also available to answer any questions along the way.\nJoin us for this fun and unique multi-session series that will help you develop your skills with landscapes!\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing (Part 2)- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
